I remember cheese saying in one of his streams over the summer "if the top 16 star runners start grinding 120 like they do 16, we're all screwed" prophecy fulfilled.
Wait until GreenSuigi starts, if he does. I randomly got reccomended one of his videos a long ass time ago, and watching his progress over a couple months I knew he'd have 16 star wr before long. He could be unstoppable.

i mean look at dowsky. he is one of the best low star speedrunners ever and his 120 is just okay and he's been grinding decently hard. weegee is just a different breed. suigi too probably, it's just a new generation coming in and taking over. happens to every open competition eventually. some low star speedrunner climbing the 120 ladder and getting WR is basically unheard of until now, they're very different categories that require very different skillsets and mentalities. that's why everyone is so impressed by weegee, it's not as if any old 16 star runner could come in and just grab 120 and 70 wr. you can clearly tell from this comparison vid that his movement in general is just a cut above everyone else's.

When you watch these runs alone, you think how can they really improve their time. It seems so well done even with their mistakes and backups. Then you watch them side by side and realize how much potential time save is truly there and it's so exciting. This is amazing and shows just how much farther these runners can push the record / times.

For anyone curious “doujin” is a Japanese word that roughly means “self published”.
Twitter comics, mix tapes, and indie games usually would fall under this.
HOWEVER in the west we basically use it to mean “Japanese porn comic”.
Kind of similar to how if you tell someone you write fanfic, it doesn’t mean it’s smut but like, you know it’s smut, because that’s what 90% of fanfiction is.

Cheez was 14:23 behind the lead with his 100 coins + Koopa race vs 100 coins + Red coins, compared to Marlene being 19:77 behind Cheez with his Koopa race vs Red coins (& the other 2 were further behind on their Koopa race) so Cheez saves more than 5 1/2 seconds with that strat.

U forgot the Timeloss Cheese Had from Entering Huge Island vs. Small Island so its 3secs at Most
Taking into account the roughly 2.5 seconds of time loss on entry (since Cheese enters the huge island first for the reds/Koopa star), it's around a 3 second save. Still impressive
Not quite. Cheese has to enter Huge vs Small twice (for 100+Koopa, and Reds) whereas the others don't for either (100+Reds, and Koopa), so it's barely any timesave.

So over the course of 100, Koopa, Reds and both entries, Cheese was fastest, Liam +0.27, Marlene +0.34, and Weegee +1.01
the math adds up to basically being even this run. but no one had a particularly clean 100. the recipe is kinda simple though. 2.7x2(from two slower stage entries) + timeloss from 100c and then compare that to the timeloss of reds vs koopa. in this vid it was like literally almost 19.7 vs 19.7. but the 100c's were all sloppy so go find some good examples of those stars and the math would be pretty easy to do.
That's exactly what I thought was happening, Weegee saves so much time over everyone else. It can be very small things like leaving JRB and entering slides, where he already saves half a second over Marlene. We always talk about the tricks runners do, but castle movement is such an insane factor and this video shows it

For whose don’t know, the player that has the audio, is the slowest in the current segment
Kinda funny that hearing Cheese between levels so often means his re-entries are generally a little slower :D
Also that makes a lotta sense, since the faster segments get paused on star touch for example, having the audio from one of them would be whack. Also in the editing, using the longest audio segments means continuous audio for the video overall; one audio track with all the clips snapped end-to-end is so satisfying. At least that's how I would do it but I'm no expert AND it's also not the reality since at points there are multiple layers of audio.
Wish someone would set new WR already so Simply has something to react to.

i would be super interested to see what the time would be if you chose whichever player was the fastest in each segment
Cheese doing 100 coins with Koopa the quick in THI lost 14 seconds to 100 with reds.
But doing reds alone was 20 seconds faster than Koopa the Quick alone.
That's 6 seconds shaved off purely due to routing. That's a pretty big time save.

But cheese loses 2.7 second each time he enters the huge painting vs entering the tiny painting. So that's another 5.4 seconds. so he really only saves 0.5 overall.
all this tells me is that marlene has some insane timesave in lobby

its easy to ignore but if they all just started grinding and honing that portion of the run like weegee then honestly 1:36 is free

I was just wondering about koopa in bob - why does everyone complete the race, go down the mountain, talk to the bobomb and go up again? Not that it would save time to talk to the bobomb right after starting the race, but there would be less possibilities to screw up. Is it just a meme thing?
The koopa finishes the race faster if you finish faster. So by finishing the race then going down to pink koopa finishes running up while they’re doing it and they don’t waste time waiting at the top.

You have to wait for the koopa to finish. Also there are things a runner can do after opening the canon that will make the koopa go faster by creating BALLS

While watching Simply lately, I've noticed his following is very toxic towards him, why is that?
It's just jokes most of the time, they do it to him and he does it back. He's genuinely nice when people are nice to him, it's just bro stuff really.

I like Simply and Cheese, but it's so disheartening to see them constantly react to other people's videos and then run ads on them. At least Simply links the channel in the description, but who's realistically gonna go there and rewatch the entire video?
I can't imagine how much effort goes through into editing a video like Bernhard's, only for Simply to reupload the entire video with his own commentary and get 10x more views in the first hour than Bernhard got in 3 weeks.
On top of that, by running ads on the video (which Bernhard can't even do yet), Simply basically blocks Bernhard from being promoted by the algorithm.
Small creators are still creators, not content farms for streamers. They are _never_ going to grow if bigger channels can just reupload their stuff. Bernhard has been making these kinds of videos for 9 months and he's actually been doing _worse_ while Simply's reuploads has been doing _better_ over time.
Simply literally says at the beginning of the video that Bernhardt gave him permission to react to it…

Nope, you're forgetting both times Cheese has to enter Huge vs Small, which loses around 2.7s each.
