The F SKUs seem like a useful idea conceptually until you get to pricing, and the value just never seem to be there. 16:10 seemed to be the worst, where you have to pay $1 more to get no iGPU, but even most of the time it feels like F SKUs are never discounted enough from non-F to justify losing the iGPU.

Yes, especially if you play 1440p or higher, the GPU will be the bottleneck. Just noticed, however, that you are talking about music production. DAWs and music production still benefit more for single core performance over multi core (though cores can help too, higher single core performance is more important), so actually the "gaming CPUs" might be better to look at for music production specifically. The CPU is also far more important to music production than regular use, gaming use, editing use, etc. So in music production, CPU and often RAM are the things to invest in.

I see that the AMD 7700x is recommended at the under 300$ but not the regular 7700. Currious as to why as the 7700 is only 65watts tdp vs the 100+ of the other..
Also i wanted to the 7700 regular but its looking hard to choose it over a regular 7600 which is about 100$ cheaper for 2 less cores.

I just trust Intel.. when you buy a computer and it just runs solid for 5 to 7 years and then buy another one and it also runs for 5 to 7 years and again and again.. you just have trust that is hard to beat.. I'm 52 years old.. been using intel since my 286 in school.. and buying my first 486 at around 20 years old.. that's 32 years of solid intel.. not one chip ever died.. i've had crashes but was always microsoft i think.. but haven't crashed really in 7 years so i even trust microsoft for my OS.. my 8600k is just a beast.. just 6 cores of pure power.. and it runs at 39c idle .. 67c max load.. just did a blender test to be sure.. 100% cpu pegged... 63 to 67c... it's wicked.. i did have a cpu one time crashing at 103c but it was screw on fan that let one corner lift up... i put something heavy on the heatsink and ran it fine for weeks... then i got a 7700k that was wicked fast like almost 5ghz... but i also got the 8600k for a mining rig at the time.. when i saw 39c or less idle.. it just dropped to 700mhz at idle.. after having 103c.. i sold the 7700k.. i wanted the higher core count.. lower temps.. didn't have as fast single core but it was just amazing.. and still using it today so that's what 7 years now.. and i could use it for 5 more i bet.. but it's benchmark is only 10k.. and new ultra 7 is 59k.. but i just don't need it.. more of a want

Missed a good one in the budget category.... the 12600k at Newegg for $149 with $20 coupon code and it also gets free 1tb Kingston NV3 gen4 NVME SSD and the Assassins Creed Shadows game for free! Deduct the game and the SSD cost and it's basically a $20 CPU! Wow!

Yes, the 5700X @ $130 is a sweet deal. If you don't have a lot to spend and you need a PC that's capable of mid-level performance in just about anything, this is your CPU. Another AM$ super deal is the "new" 5900XT, which is actually a very slightly down-clocked 5950X. At just $279, fully $37 less than a 5950X, it's a no-brainer if you're on an AM4 board that can accept a Zen3 BIOS.

I thought 7800X3d is so high because they stopped production to make the 9800X3d. Will it go down overtime even as stock gets increasingly less? 5800X3D also went up in price.

5500 I'd stay away from Cezanne DDR3 yea get a Vermeer 5600_ DDR 4 huge overstock condition price will continue to come down. All 13th and 12th are bargains right now just avoid the used K but New is ok and NEW is definitely selling in the channel including on the clearance sale pricing. 7600_ is also in an overstock condition the price will continue to fall. 5800X New, I have a 5800X it great BUT 5800X3D are returning to the used market in droves as are 5900X. 5700X3D sure BUT the used 5800X3D. 7600X3D I have them sold out and would go for a 7900X3D used as a much better deal 12C v 6C and they both have the hexa core 1 ccd game appliance definitely go with 7900X3D used. 5900XT 16 core is a good deal yea vs $230 for a 5900X 12 core new I'd have to look up 5950X but have no need for a 16C CPU myself. 7800X3D sales r stalled in the channel almost flat so yea wait for the price to come down and that's in the next 45 days I think. haha 9800X3D yea try to find one for $479 the channel sees 3D as Extreme Edition pricing and that is what I expect for a 9K3D for at least 3 months, maybe longer. ANd yes Paul I had to add you the to SBan list terrible treatment. mb
