That's such a cool pulling together of different ideas, with the crowning glory of taking the "There are too many milks" joke to the next level. Black walnuts seem like they would add quite a complicated flavor note to the milk - unlike carpathian walnuts, cashews, almonds, or other nuts that we use for milk, they actually have a serious flavor. But it doesn't immediately seem like it would be a bad flavor to add. I'lldefinitely try this with the kiddos this year!
What a great vid! ...hehe, all around. I've got cwazy bl. walnut growing but never get to them before the squirrels. It's been years now, and I gave up. I'm on Vancouver Island and the branches grow like weeds so there must be more trees around. You didn't mention it, but it seems Fall onward is the best time to forage those roots? It's June, and my cleavers are forming their little seed balls now. Hopefully I've not cut them all back... Thanks again, to you, your brave in-laws, hehe, and of course, Juniper! xo
This was SO cool to watch! We drink Dandy sometimes, which is chicory root and dandelion root. I didn’t know cleavers were related to coffee until this video. Wish I could make nut milks but I’m allergic to tree nuts. Are there any other wild “milk” alternatives?
Wow! Thanks for putting this recipe and how too together. Beautiful! Gonna make some when i can get the walnuts!
#10kForagers congratulations man! You deserve it!

It was fun to make. The black walnut milk is definitely complex and very rich, it was almost a cream and good all on its own. Thanks for watching!
