I very often find Chanterelles, False Chanterelles and Jack O Lanterns fairly close together. Once you understand the features of each they are easy to distinguish but ya definitely gotta be diligent. Great video! Following ya on Instagram now as well 👍🍄
I don't know if you're with a mushroom society but my daughter is Alyssa Allen she's a master Dyer using mushrooms and fungi in Seattle. We've been picking mushrooms for about 25 years in this lovely area❤
Enjoying all the videos. Would you consider doing a woods safety video for al the beginners who are venturing further into the woods. Like animal encounter safety tips ect.
Thank you !!! I have all the mushrooms growing in my yard...the shaggy mushroom...I don't know anything to eat them but I wanted to know if they were safe... don't want my puppy to eat them...I just dig them up before they turn to ink...thank you again...if was a fun adventure 🙋
If you find 1 king bolete (prawdzywki) there is always another one or 2 near by (within 5 feet,). I pick these, and many others . 😀 Slippery Jacks (myślaki) are Delightful eats. Just a pain to clean. But we've them.
Fun video. Smart to bank footage ahead of time. Gives us some fun after this crazy summer. Do you think once this drought ends we will get a huge flush or a bunch of OK’ish mushrooms due to the record heat? Guess we will all find out together.
I think it could be a really good year! But there's no way to really know. 🤷 Fingers crossed! But I bet you that mycelium is thirsty for some rain and is likely to go crazy!!🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄
They also used to use ammonia species for especially the fly agaric they would put it in sweetened milk and the flies would be attracted to it and it would kill them.😮
He’s killing all those Chantrell. They’re like a spiderweb unit underneath the ground and once you pull it off of that more than likely, the liver go back there again so yeah that’s why you cut them off.
@@DeeDee-o7d please educate yourself. If you pick the apples on an apple tree, does it kill the tree, no! It's a fruiting body! They rot in place if not harvested, how would that not harm the so called spider web you speak of?
Why do you pick these so freely? It is distressing to see it. There is a few German mushroom TH-cam programs. In contrast to you, they rarely remove mushrooms.
In order to properly identify a mushroom you need to be able to see the gills or the underside of the cap, the entire stipe including the base. I'm certain that the small amount of picking that I do in these videos does not disturb that mycelium, and I'm actually helping to kick some scores into The wind by picking them, if most of them in the forest unless I'm foraging for edibles. Sorry it distresses you. Any modern Field guide would confirm that picking mushrooms is not harmful to the mycelium or the forest. 🍄
@@mushroomwonderland1 Thanks for your reply to me. I watched your interview with Dr. Simard and enjoyed it. I am still not convinced picking young mushrooms does not jeopardize their chances of spreading their spores.

I appreciate the info, but Bring some scissors next time, not good for the mycelium to just pluck these out, especially ones you have no intention of eating. Show some respect for them and teach others the same.
Minute 4:10. Imagine if people cut instead of just going around tugging up the reproductive, base ... That they will end up cutting off back at home any way. Are they eatable?
Where you at ? In Point Defiance park ???
South Port Orchard 🤘🍄
4:29 Those are honey mushrooms (Armillaria). They grow on dead or decaying wood. Very much edible. I love honey mushrooms!
+1 honey mushroom.

That's cool you should say that, we have one in the works! Glad you're enjoying the videos!🍄
So cool to see mushrooms that grow in my area. Thanks for the PNW knowledge!
I found your site because I saw some mushrooms on my lawn. Now I know they are Lbm's. Thank you!
Beautiful! Love the intro part. The nature surrounding looks so beautiful there!

My wife and I are heading to Washington to mushroom hunt what the best woods to hunt
Have you ever thought of doing one for all the psychedelic mushrooms we have around. It can be used for spiritual purposes.
Yellow foot's are growing now! :D I love those!
Awesome! Thanks!
Living in the mushrooms you showed us I couldn't really tell what they look like because they look rather fuzzy's in the video

Knows nothing about Amanitas. Still a great video.
That's what I was looking for.
Great video. If you can add name captions, that will be more helpful.
That's a good idea, and in a lot of our videos we do. And in many many future identification videos we will! Thanks for your input.
I want to but I'm so nervous to get it wrong
Just start with a simple one like a chanterelle, can't really confuse it with anything else. Once you have one you'll get brave to try another.
The amanita is he mentioned aren’t deadly poisoning there consider intoxication but from what I’ve heard you don’t want to experience it
Do you have any tips on where to go to start looking for these mushrooms. Names of trails etc....

Pantherina doesn’t actually grow in the us. It’s a related species
Yeah, Amanita pantherinoides is what we have here in the PNW 🤙🍄

You can’t destroy the mycelium by pulling mushrooms out of the ground. That’s a myth.
