@@VudoBrey yes, we can use that perk on other weapons but Poseidon trident would be cooler you know........plus it is what kratos in god of war uses to go underwater too....for me it's knida have some similarities. so whenever I want to go underwater I equip the trident and jump. so that I can remind that bloody sharks that I'm the king like Aquaman.
But with ultra superior poseidon's spear he is have better Infinity lung capacity due then poseidon's trident.

Fun fact, canonically Altair can swim, it was a glitch in the Animus that couldn't process Altair swimming

It actually makes complete sense that Edward can hold his breath so much longer when deep underwater vs right at the surface. All mammals have a biomechanism referred to as the "mammalian dive reflex," which allows humans (and other mammals, of course) to hold their breath significantly longer once they pass a certain depth threshold. Some seriously freaky stuff starts happening, like your heart rate dropping to like 35 bpm and free fluid exchange in between your organs. This is how freedivers can just kind of walk along the bottom for aaages without seeming to have any need for air. It's pretty cool stuff, actually, I recommend looking it up.
Game mechanics that just randomly align with scientific facts are my favorite. Not saying devs didnt think about this at all but i suspect it is a coincidence
Not exactly. The dive reflex is triggered by water (especially colder water) entering your nostrils/touching your face, and holding your breath. Has nothing to do with dive depth. Dive depth may help you stay conscious longer because of gas being compressed (look up shallow water blackout diagram), but mostly free divers can stay down for ages because they build up their tolerance to CO2, which gives you that feeling of needing to breath.
The others were holding their breaths cuz they can, Edward was holding his or he drowns, there is difference. The handler disappointed me, he should have shown Edward also swimming, maybe Edward could win that, who knows

I like the realistic nature of the game, assassins with heavy armors can’t stay under water for long but when diving without or with very light armor they can very well be underwater for longer duration, with Eivor being an exception.
Eivor has a lot of experience on a ship in freezing temperatures, so it makes sense for them to have good CRE. I was wondering if the Bayek score was with or without “Breath Holding Champion”, since that would change his score quite a bit.
Realistic and AC don't go together
Armour would probably only effect maneuverability and if you'd float or not.

The Nile river in AC Origins is soo beautiful. Swimming through the Nile with Bayek really feels surreal and even majestic at some point. Ubisoft really improved water graphics from AC Origins and onwards.
in my opinion, visually origins is better than Odyssey and Valhalla. I mean world visuals, because animations in origins sucks compared to previous parts

Being from Egypt, I'm very happy that Ubisoft recreated the Nile so well and I applaud them for that.
But nothing can beat the beautiful ocean and seas of the Caribbean
It's semi-logical for Edward to hold his breath longer when he's deep in the ocean compared when swimming on the ocean surface. His gear, clock and whatever ammunition, swords and firearms he has equipped adds weight, compared to when he's underwater, where his gear is completely removed except for his pants and bandana.
I think they're called pants (or breeches, I guess).
What does extra weight have to do with lung capacity?
@@Anonymous-re9fd I suppose you can use this situation to understand my opinion. Wearing full denim while fully submerged underwater. Soaked denim is really heavy so now let's try adding more weight to it. Obviously Edward doesn't have access to denims in his time so we can go with leather/cloth. The amount of swords, clothes, guns he's carrying makes him exhaust his energy faster compared when he's lightly dressed during his diving expeditions since he has little carryweight to monitor and gives him more freedom to easily maneuver underwater compared when fully equipped.

Compared to land where he has a land to step on, there's nowhere for him to rest once he exhausts his breath/stamina underwater, no stepping stone or surface to rest. One vest possibly carrying 1-2 flintlock pistols, 1-2 swords sheathed, logical ammo Edward can carry and the gold his probably has on hand before diving can be really heavy. I guess on Edward's POV, He doesn't want to trouble himself with swimming too deep as much as possible if he has all his equipment with him. But hey, to each their own opinion.

Well even if he's a sailor/pirate I don't see a reason why he should have much experience with being under water? Sailors and pirates are on a ship. Unless someone destroys it they won't be in the water and even then they would hold their breath like once to get to the surface again. I don't think people like that spend much more time diving than other people

The reason why Adevale can spend more time underwater is because you lose health when you run out of oxygen and not just immediately die.. And health is not a constant variable, the player can increase their health points amount by upgrading. So, Adevale has the same lung capacity as Edward, it's just he has more HP at the start

How long can Bayek last with the upgraded underwater skill in Origins?
2 minutes 17 seconds
Actually, there are 2 factors contribute to this matter. Based on this video, he tested bayek until he desynchronized; so in order to find out how long bayek can actually 'stay alive' underwater you need to:
1. Like u mentioned, upgrade his lung capacity, and...
2. Maximize bayek's health capacity by reaching max lvl of 55, fully upgrade his armor (or whatever it is called in game), and obtain, upgrade, as well as equip one of the shields given from the Gods challenges as those shields have the highest health bonus.
Only by then bayek is on his peak in terms of lung capacity and health. I never tested how long bayek can survive underwater myself, just hope that the video did bayek justice by not neglecting those 2 factors.

It's worth mentioning that bayek can get an upgrade that lets him hold his breath longer.

The reason why going under the water to hide from an enemy is longer, is because if you are trying to hide just underneath the surface of water, you have to breathe out then go underneath. Breathing out makes you sink. This also makes it so you last for less time underwater because you have barely any air in your lungs.
I love Bayek, he’s my favorite character by far in the series. I cried at the ending to his main storyline. The buildup was fantastic

All these interesting and colourful characters that we'll never get again... just going to get more empty shells with select gender and no personality. I was will excited with Bayek as he was an amazing character and honestly expected more characters like him in the next games! But ubisoft lets us down once again for profit.

There's a reason why Adewale & Edward lungs capacity is different
On stealth swim (mode 1)
They wears their clothes & even carries their equiment with them. Just 2 Swords is already heavy enough, but they carried more than that.
On Diving (mode 2)
They don't carry their heavy equipment.
But why Adewale can hold longer than Edward?
My theory is that Adewale is actually stronger than Edward (i look at their attacking animations & their equipments)
Edward's main weapon is Dual Sword, and in the animation, he looks faster rather than stronger
Adewale on the other hand, has a Machete, and in his animations, his attacks is brutal & looks very strong. (And he even carried a Shotgun, which is heavier than Edward's 4 pistols)

@@borys0917 blunderbuss is old shotgun, just very inaccurate beyond 15 paces but great for clearing decks on account of being able to kill/wound several people with one shot.
Edward should be the first one, he is holding his breath for 2 minutes and there is one diving so far under surface, which compresses the air in your lungs, so basically it's much harder to keep your breath the lower you go and he still does it for 2 minutes

If Ubisoft took account lung capacity into consideration to reflect on each character then Edward, Adawale and Eivor would take the top 3.
2 were pirates who literally took part in whaling and looted treasure from sunken shipwrecks so they'd probably develop the skill from doing it numerous times while Eivor was a Viking who was bascially also a pirate.
I mean if a person spent dive fishing for an entire week they'd probably gotten a little skillful in breath control compared to them a week prior.
Taking that analogy into consideration, we know for a fact that Edward and Adawale spent years at sea doing 'watersports' that Peta wouldn't recommend and literally diving to the ocean floor for a few reals.
I mean lets look at Bayek. Lived in Ancient Egypt in the middle of the desert, on an oasis. That means 90 to 99% of your day will be spent swimming or just chilling in water. That means that Bayek from the day he can swim and control his breath, has been swimming and diving and working in water. Literally most activities you'd have as an ancient oasis village would involve some type of swimming. And his Medjay training probably also includes militaristic levels of pushing his limits, including diving.
In Liberation, there's underwater swimming in the Chichen Itza missions when you first get to the cenote

In odysey it has to do with your hp stats for example if you have an armor set that gives extra hp you ll get much more time underwater. It also has to do with your characters level.I suggest you trying it with the trident of Poseidon it has good hp stats 😁😁.

Appreciate everyone's response, especially @Skyrim Guard; it is truly just a personal taste, for me i can't tolerate game that were made from the same template as it's predecessor (in this case,AC:O) and executed even worst in many aspects, except 'maybe' combat. Valhalla is nothing but a copy and paste of ACO with a different story (bad one, although i do like the twist with the new modern protagonist at the end) and little tweak here and there, same goes for Odyssey. If you do like RPG style of AC game, better stick with AC:O, otherwise go for AC2 or AC4BF. As for the rest...pretend they never exist.
As for you @John Walker, no matter how great my rig is, it won't change the fact how bad Valhalla is in my opinion, the thing already smells bad before its even released with the internal problem within the company. U know what, better pray they never released other AC title ever again, as an AC fan, I do HATE how they keep ruining this franchise. They should dump AC Infinity then flushed out their silly ideas and move on with a new IP instead.
Almost forget, do u guys know other AC game that is better than Valhalla apart from what i mentioned above? It is called AC Chronicles; this game is beautiful to look at, has a good music and sound quality, its diverse (when u owned all 3 games), the gameplay is the most challenging experience i ever have in AC game, this is a pure art compared to the cash grabbing Valhalla...

He probably could, lorewise during AC Abstergos Animus wasnt developed enough for characters to swim. Similar to how in some VR games you cant move ingame.

actually ALtair's holding breath is most accurate, noone can swim with heavy armors and weapons like that.
Altair wears some of the lightest armor in the franchise.

@@gifking3738 Well best story is an opinion. I've played the Ezio trilogy and watched the first AC. Let me say- imo, Revelations is the only AC of the first 4 games that could rival AC III and Origins for best story.

This wasnt really lung capacity BUT how long will it take until they drown. If Alexios could heal himself with the Andrenaline everytime hes near death he could last for ages.

They changed engine which means that they had to remake most things from scratch, and remaking underwater environment, physics, animations etc. wasn't exactly a priority in setting like Paris and London.

I understand why some wouldn't like the decreased amount of customization optins, or the technical state of PC version which was really broken, but lack of underwater environment? That's stupid, I doubt it would make any difference for the game if it was there, sure there is sea around the map and not just one river like in Syndicate and Unity, and maybe they could have done something with underwater environment, but it's absence doesn't brake the game
