    I own 2 p10c’s. I bought my first, sold my G19 and haven’t had any issue with the gun since. Bought a second p10c about 2 months ago that was/is a project pistol. Had the slide milled and an RMR installed before I ever shot it. First range trip to zero the dot and put some rounds through the new gun. I put 150-200 rounds through the gun no malfunctions. 2 days later after 2 dry fire sessions in between I happened to be changing the striker spring and some other parts and found the tip sheared off of the striker. The same thing you experienced. But again I had no malfunctions on the range. So the striker tip had to have sheared off during DRY FIRE. Anyone calling you a liar need only do a quick google search as these MIM parts have been known to break and that whole batches of parts come out brittle. CGW makes a pretty penny selling steel firing pins and I’m not sure why cz hasn’t fixed the issue yet. Maybe the new American made P10s will be better but until then spend the $60 and buy a steel part. I have had zero other issues with either of my p10c’s. I compete with a p10c, and I still trust my life with it. I’m financially invested in my 2 CZs so I chose to fix the problem and move forward. But I completely understand just selling them and buying something else, and I don’t think I will ever buy another CZ because this. They know they have a problem yet they don’t fix it and give their customers a hard time when the parts they know can fail in fact do.

      I've been somewhat amazed, and amused, by the reactions folks have had to my striker breaking. I made a follow-up video, and was again told that I must've fabricated the whole thing. Anyhow, I'm sorry you've had to deal with the same issue, and though I ought to just pony up for the CGW striker, I haven't been able to force myself to buy one, purely out of principle.

    CZ includes a snap cap with their P10 series for dry firing. Additionally, Cajun Gun Works sells a hardened tool steel firing pin to address this failure.

    Nice video ! Just to share some info. I am from Brazil 🇧🇷 and had the exactly same problem with my CZP10F. The tip of the firepin just broke off with about 5k dry fire training. Found your video searching infos about this problem. It’s sad that CZ haven’t fixed that issue since then because your video is already from 3 years ago and my CZP10F is just new (bought in 2021). At last it worths to mention that i am a police officer and that’s my duty gun, imagine what could have happened.

    WOW! When I saw this pop up in my notifications, my heart dropped because I know you're an extremely honest person. Thank you so much for sharing this. This deeply disturbs me. I've had this gun on my nightstand for the past month, and even though I only put around 1,700 rounds through mine, I just assumed it was on the same level as Glock status reliability, which was just a lazy mistake because you never know. I hate to say it because it's said so much but there's always that "What If". I'm going to have to take a real hard look at this pistol and start putting a lot more rounds through it. Knowing the quality of CZ I just never would have thought...and that's a shame with the customer support. I was wondering why you had the P10 just sitting there in the Glock 45 range day vid. Thanks again for sharing and I'm sorry this happened man. This is a big WTF moment

    • @GrandLuxx
      @GrandLuxx 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      And the reason I say Glock reliability status is because I've put thousands upon thousands of rounds through my gen 4 19 and never had anything break.

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I thought of you when I made this video. I was hoping you'd see it. This whole thing made me feel sick, for a lot of reasons. I encouraged a few people to buy these, because mine had stood up to some serious abuse, but knowing this, perhaps it hadn't. I never would've thought to check for fractures on the pin. Also, I had gotten to where I trusted this gun implicitly, and it's easy to forget that the design is just over a year old; it had started to feel like an HK or my Beretta to me. I still think that this gun is very, very reliable...if you have a pin that will last. I consider myself to have above average knowledge of the inner working of guns from tinkering over the years, and I can't think of a good way to check for that. That's a big problem. You'll always wonder. I think if your gun passes 4000 rounds or so, you're in the clear, but I had assumed that I was past the point that something would break after 2800 or whatever it is. And the customer service, man, that really irked me. They couldn't understand why I thought this was such a big deal. It's probably irritating that I always mention Ruger, but folks like you and I shoot so much that we break our guns, and it feels good to know that I'll always have help from the manufacturer. Whenever I buy a new revolver, I always end up with a Ruger for that reason. Other guns feel great, but Ruger understands that they make guns, and guns are big pieces of metal that have a really hard life, and will likely be abused by dumbdumbs like me. But anyway, hopefully CZ will realize this is a serious, serious problem and fix it -- if they do, they'll have probably the best striker-fired gun on the market. But it's got to work long term. Oh, and while we're talking, a note about Berettas: when yours come in, sometimes they are fit so tightly, especially the Italian ones, that they will have failures for the first 100 rounds or so. That works itself out, and is just part of buying a handmade gun. Just thought I should share. Not all of them do it, but there's a 25% chance.

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And hey, you're right about Glocks. My G22 shot over 20k rounds without a failure, and I sure as shit don't expect to see any from my G45. Your 19 will outlive us both.

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I should also add that it was really hard to sit on this video for 4 days, but I had to wait and see what CZ would do. I never put out a negative video until the manufacturer has a chance to make it right. I firmly believe in trying to be as objective as possible, and I need that second opinion from the creator of the product when things go bad. Sometimes, there is a happy ending, other times, there's really not.

    • @GrandLuxx
      @GrandLuxx 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's exactly why I got a gut punch when I saw this video in my notifications. You're not one to rush a video out because your gun failed to stir shit up and create controversy. You genuinely wanted to get to the bottom of it and see what CZ would say and do. I trust your opinion to the fullest because you're a genuine person who wouldn't lie or create controversy just to get views. By the way, do you know when your gun was made or if it's a pre 2018 gun? Either way, I really hope CZ fixes this problem. I've been putting hella rounds through mine since this video, Oh and about the Beretta's, did my research on them and I am positive they're going to be one of my favorite handguns. All the reading I've done about these guns, and from what I've learned from you, the reliability and craftsmanship is second to none, and I can't tell you how excited I am to finally shoot my first Beretta at the range. Just as good as Glock, HK, and CZ, if not better. Every gun has a break in period and I fully understand. I first wanted to buy a Beretta when I saw Paul Harrell shoot his in numerous videos, planting the seed, and then you watered that seed, making it grow inside of me....that sounded weird, but HEY! You made me finally buy one. So, thank you for all the great content and info, I'm looking forward to more, And that really got my blood boiling when that guy told you to wait until the new strikers came in and then buy it....wtf

  • @TheGV50
    @TheGV50 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Thanks for the heads up GP! This is very troubling. Can you give us an a rough round count when you experienced this failure? My guess is that the firing pin was not heat treated properly, or the carbon steel formulation was out of spec! This is a stark reminder that these pistols are machines and machines do break! This reminds me of the problem my department had with the Glock 19 In the late nineties we (The NYPD)switched from Winchester White Box(Yea I Know It's Crappy Ammo) 115gr FMJ to Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P HP. The Winchester WB as you know is loaded with brass case's the Speer Gold Dot is nickel plated.We started to experience a large number of broken, chipped extractors with the Glock m19. At our request Glock looked into the issue and eventually changed their heat treating process, which rectified the problem. I still prefer to use brass case ammo in my firearms!

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great to hear from you! I was hoping you'd chime in. The gun had around 2800 rounds through it when the failure occurred, and I suspect heat treating because I was routinely shooting the gun until it was too hot to touch, letting it cool, and doing it again. But, the gun should've been able to handle this. My Berettas can do it, and so can my Glock. And my HKs. Everything breaks, but they certainly could've handled it better. As always, thanks for taking the time to comment and share your experience, it's very helpful.

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheGV50 That's VERY interesting! I'm leery of any design that can't stand up to dry firing. They should've known when they designed the gun, Americans are going to universally dry fire these guns, often without snap caps. As for the frequency, I looked around online, and it doesn't seem common, but if something is going to break, that seems to be one of the common parts, if that makes sense.

    This same thing happened to me 2 days ago on a Friday. I attempted to submit a warranty claim with them so I could send it back. I tried twice on my phone and a few times on the computer and there was an issue with their website. I called customer service and explained what had happened. The gentleman I talked to told me to fill out the form online. I told him I attempted to and was unsuccessful. He seemed not to care either way and told me to try again tomorrow and if it’s still down to call. This is my only handgun so I will be out of a carry gun until the issue is resolved. The plan is to send it back and have them fix it and when I get it back to replace the striker with a Cajun gun works tool steel striker.

    Just an observation that I haven't seen anyone on youtube address yet. The newest Glocks have had internal components redesigned and I'm talking about springs. All but the magazine release spring now uses a "simple" coil spring, specifically in a compression format. Using the springs this way should make them less prone to breakage or at least extend the life. Where so many of Glock's competitors push to have better ergonomics or whatever, Glock appears to be simply making theirs just more durable. Would make for an interesting video though.

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've detail stripped a few of the gen 5s, and I've also noticed that the internals are better fit than they have been on prior generations. I don't know if it's simply due to more precise manufacturing or what, but it's noticeable. So far, I can help but be impressed. The 43X will be getting a hard workout tomorrow. Great catch on the springs -- I didn't even notice. What I enjoy immensely about your comments: you've got a great eye for detail, and I both agree and disagree with you. I'd argue that Glock has focused on ergonomics. Though the finger grooves, or lack thereof, are much hullaballoo about nothing, I've found the G45, the gen. 5 MOS guns, and the 43X and 48 to be much more comfortable than past models. I also can't agree that other manufacturers shouldn't have focused on ergonomics. Let's have it all! I want my cake, I want to eat it, and then I want to buy more awesome cake! It doesn't have to be one or the other. Along with the rest of the shooting community, I often forget how crazy Glocks seemed when they were released, and how many problems they've had along the way. These other designs will be refined as they spend more time out in the wild, and I'm happy to along for the ride. But, that said, I totally agree with you that Glock has done an amazing job of somehow baking more and more durability into the design. And I doubt they'll stop here; at least, I certainly hope they won't. I'm really enjoying this new Glock renaissance. The G45 is a treasure, and the 43X is one of the most comfortable guns I've ever fired. 5 years from now, I doubt we'll think of Glocks as being uncomfortable. Instead, we'll just see the improvements. As always, I appreciate your thoughts, and thanks for the interesting conversation! (This was hastily types and likely contains piles of grammatical errors and incomplete thoughts. Sorry.)

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've noticed this as well. This is speculation, but I think they might break because of the forces exerted on them when they flop around in there. There's far more wiggle room than there should be in the striker channel on a lot of these guns, and I suspect it stresses the pin, in some cases. What do you think? And you're right, with the exception of my trusty Glock and PPQ, I prefer hammer-fired guns. I've yet to have a parts breakage on a quality DA/SA pistol.

    Sorry to hear about this issue you had but I thought to mention a couple of points. First, it is always a good idea to have a small range kit with replacement parts just in case this sort of thing happens. Parts can break at any time so having replacements is just common sense. The P10 is a brand new design and as you mentioned it still needs to go through some sort of durability endurance test. The Glock pistols have been around for years and even then at the beginning it wasn't really clear how well they would hold up over time. Too many people get hung up on how all these new guns feel in the hand or if it has this feature or that, I prefer something that has proven itself as reliable. Saying that, I still keep a range kit for my Glock 19 which has a complete spring kit, pins and a striker. My P10 hasn't gone to the range often and was only intended to provide a comparison against Glock. Though some parts appear to be built pretty beefy (barrel, slide rails, etc.) I feel the fact of the usage of several pins in the lower receiver indicates a lot of weak points that maybe overlooked. The small odd shaped "automatic safety spring" is another interesting part that does not look too durable. We will just have to see.

    • @thegunpenguin

      As you mention, a few of the internal parts likely need to be re-worked in the long run. I'm sure that we'll see a 2nd generation P10C that will sort out a lot of these problems, but I'm most concerned with CZ USA's supply chain. I can break just about any gun if you leave me alone with it long enough, but I certainly expect a manufacturer to have replacement parts, especially major components that are most likely to fail, on hand. In general principle, I agree with you. If someone is able, it's best to have spare parts. In an alternate reality, in which I'm smart, and other people are smart too, we buy lots of replacement parts and keep them on hand. But in our reality, that's just not what happens, for a variety of reasons. In the case of the P10C, I couldn't have purchased a spare striker assembly even if I was smart enough to want to, which I'm certainly not. So, I'm torn here. On the one hand, you're absolutely right that it is most prudent to buy spare parts. On the other hand, the gun ought to run far more than 3k rounds before the firing pin snaps. Glocks break firing pins, but they don't break them often enough that standard users expect to replace them, in some cases, ever. The P10C, based on anecdotal internet evidence, seems to break pins far more often. So, again, I'm torn. The P10C's pin ought to last at least as long as a Glock's, given the implication of CZ's marketing comparing the two in a not-so-subtle way. I shoot my Glocks a lot, and hard, so I keep certain parts on hand that I know wear out, but I usually have a good idea of when those parts will wear out, and I wasn't thrilled with the surprise offered by the P10C. Again, Glocks break randomly as well, just less often. Also, I'm not so sure that it's unwise for folks to focus on how a gun feels. We buy guns to shoot them, and shooting is fun and cool. Guns that are cool and fun to shoot lead to more practice, and more gun purchases. Latching on to a new untested product, preferably a super cool badass one, leads to the development of more new and exciting guns. My beloved Glocks are arguably the pinnacle of present pistol design, but they are not the pinncale of all pistol design into perpetuity. The gun community has a bad habit of going with the safe option. Buying the newest thing and harassing the manufacturer to sort out the kinks moves firearms forward, and we're already to a place where you stand a good chance that a brand new design will at least sort of work, which is a huge improvement over the decades behind us. In 20 years, it might not be unreasonable to expect most new design to run as well a Glock 19, if we keep buying them and pushing manufacturers. Anyhow, I very much enjoyed your comment, and I appreciate you taking the time to share you experience and perspective. Great stuff!

      Interesting, I had not considered the implications of purchasing new firearm designs to test and provide feed back to manufacturer's in regards to function and durability. Then again, I haven't really held onto them long enough or put enough rounds to wear them out to get personal experiences of such things. Like your content and I will subscribe to follow this CZ experience further. I will admit, I brought my newly purchased P10 and G19 to the range for the initial test fire and ended up putting most of the 200 rounds through the P10. Want a PPQ but they are hard to find near me. Will keep my eyes open for anything new from the major ones. Btw, have you had a chance to look at that new Beretta? Not sure it's need either but I am considering starting a 9mm (ammo consistency) Glock size striker-fired collection (gotta do something for a hobby).

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jessebitgood3644I firmly believe that buying new and exciting guns is critical. Within reason, I mean. Some ideas just obviously suck, but if I see that Beretta or HK or Glock puts out something new, and I like it, I buy it and test it. My channel mostly focuses on endurance testing, usually to 3k rounds, though the P10C made me think that's not enough, though I don't know if I can afford to test much past that. Speaking of, I picked up a Glock 43X, and the testing has begun. But, that one isn't going to have a problem. I love my PPQ and P99, and I hope you can fine one; they are a pleasure to shoot! And sturdy. Despite being completely obsessed with all things Beretta, I haven't bought the APX yet, though I certainly will. If you get one, let me know how you like it. I've never had a Beretta that was anything other than indestructible, so hopefully the APX follows that tradition. What did you prefer about the P10C when you shot it? If you don't mind me prying. I'm honored that you would want to subscribe, and thanks for the interesting conversation. Much appreciated.

      Though I was first reluctant to buy a P10 (gosh there are a lot of pins in this thing) the basic overall layout seemed to address a lot of the design issues regarding Glock ( fully ambidextrous, front serations, smoother trigger, and metal sights. Mine came with the night sights and all for just about $530 including tax). Though I have never had a problem shooting a Glock, and the finger grooves never bothered me, I do like the new Glock 19 gen5 MOS more then the old generations. The fact of the matter is I can't find anything on the P10 I feel the need to change. I always switch the connector on my Glocks to the "-" from the G34 and almost always get fiber optic sights for GSSF. I'll give a shout out if I get something that you end up making a video about.

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I joked about it in my original review, but I didn't dry fire the gun excessively, though I definitely dry fired it. No more than I would any other gun I have on my nightstand. However, I have no way to know how much it was dry fired at the shop before I took it home. It has been suggested by others that this firing pin isn't able to tolerate much dry firing, but I have no idea if that's true or not. I'm dry firing the new firing pin more that the old one in an attempt to break it. If dry firing did cause it, that's obviously a problem, and if it didn't, it's still a problem. Either way, I hope CZ resolves the problem, or at least resolves the problems with their supply chain. Things break. I'm not as worried about the actual breakage as I am the problems I encountered with CZ USA.

      Honestly, no, I wouldn't trust it. That said, the optics-ready models are super fun to shoot! For a serious defensive pistol, the gen. 5 19 MOS is the way to go, for sure. A PPQ or VP9 cut for optics would be great too, but the Glock is a bit easier to conceal. I haven't made a video about this because I don't want to put anymore hearsay out into the world, but I've heard from an alarming number of folks who have had trouble with their P10Cs. Far too many. Versus a few for every other model. Manufacturers inevitably make lemons, but there are some weak points in the P10C design that hold it back. And if I'm brutally honest, it's a budget gun, at least relative to Glock/HK/Walther/et. al. There's a reason that they regularly turned up for $380 prior to the pandemic. I'm not trying to diminish the P10C -- prior to the problems I had, it was my favorite striker-fired gun -- but if you're buying a gun to trust with your life, it'd be morally questionable for me to tell you the CZ is good enough. Or any CZ, if other options are on the table. I've broken several other models.

I agree with you about the striker tip--I'm no expert in metallurgy, but I also felt that the tip seemed thin for a MIM part. It seems that a lot of commenters are going with the CGW strikers, and maybe that will encourage CZ to either improve the quality, and hopefully, geometry of their MIM striker, or move to a forged one.

What I don't like about the CZ P-10c ? Design of the firing pin block, it's an accident waiting to happen. This is CZ attempt on a striker and like the first one, It's a failure! That's a really good question, and something that I'll definitely address in the follow-up video. I dry fired it some, but probably less than most people. However, now that I have the new striker in, I'm fearful to dry fire the gun at all, after looking really hard at the part. The firing pin tip is just too thin for a MIM part that is under a lot of stress, and dry firing the gun is going to put far more stress on that tiny piece. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that MIM parts are inherently inferior, I just don't think that these are well-made enough to do the job they are being asked to do. The Glock firing pin is also a MIM part, but the tip is so much thicker, it's going to survive a lot longer. Anyhow, I hope this helps, and if I can provide any additional information, I'm happy to.

      @@atlas9.0 I'm happy to help. I do plan to try the CGW striker. Right now, I'm using the P10 C as a range toy, abusing it and the new striker to try and repeat the problem. If the new MIM striker breaks like the old one, I'll order the CGW. I just have to know if all of the MIM strikers eventually break this way, or if mine was a relatively isolated problem. Also, I do think the CGW striker will enhance durability, but that's speculation. Forged parts break too, just not as readily. But, I really trust CGW, and I don't think they would be hawking that part if it didn't do the trick. Interesting, I posted the following on another channel 6 days ago.
    "Bought the P10C a couple of weeks ago, not impressed with their customer service which should tell you a lot about what's next. First, gun shoots well excellent trigger. Cleaned the gun and headed to the range to put the first couple hundred shots through it. Was putting it back in my range bag for another outing a couple of days ago and noticed the guide rod was protruding. What they hey? Took it down and the guide rod screw had backed out.. Hmm, grabbed my 1/64 (I think) Hex and tightened it down 100 more shoots and it's backing out again. Check the google cuz it's my friend and I see this is an issue that others have encountered, Loctite yada yada. I call CZ, was not impressed he gave me the "it's a common issue" if you want to take care of it yourself break out the vice and a pair of needle nose pliers , Loctite red yada yada, or I can go to the warranty area and send in my defective part and they'll replace it? Never again and that's just on General principle, quality control must be an issue if it's a known issue, but at least send me the replacement spring without putting me through the hassle of return shipments and the like, I just spent almost $500 on your product /rant"
    Update they sent the replacement rod without requesting that I return the defective part, back to the range and the guide rod help up through 150 rounds. Trigger has a hitch seem like the "trigger safety" catches on the polymer lip if I engage high on the trigger.. Will Contact CZ and see what they say. Ruger SR9c over 5000 rounds underrated trigger and I've always heard their customer service is outstanding.. It's the one I keep in the nightand. HK VP9 after a very necessary break in seems to be solid.. Not enough rounds through my S&W 380 but no issues so far. With respect - you mentioned in your previous video that you done 1000s of dry firing drills. Surely any firearm will eventually fail due to dry firing..
    I've has parts fail eventually on my G19.. Things happen. Personally that's why I have a EDC carry Gun and a EDC Range (dry firing FA)

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you watch the video, you'll note that my primary complaint is the customer service problem, more than the firing pin. A parts breakage isn't particularly noteworthy, but a company failing to keep firing pin assemblies in stock is. That said, the striker shouldn't have failed when it did. Here's why I think so:
      It would also seem that we have wildly different expectations regarding dry fire practice. You say, "Surely any firearm will eventually fail due to dry firing..(sic)" That is correct of any mechanical action that the gun performs. But you're right that dry firing a gun puts more stress on the firing pin than firing a round. Yet, I have guns that have been dry fired 100,000 times without issue. In the modern world, a firing pin failing at this point from dry firing is a problem, as Glock, Walther, HK, Beretta, and others have given us the expectation of years of consequence-free dry-fire practice.
      Some manufacturers will tell you that you can dry fire freely, without fear of damaging the gun.
      I normally wouldn't take the time to respond in such detail to a comment, but I think a discussion of expectations is valube, and I can point folks to this thread later. You're speaking in generalities, about a topic that requires precision. Dry firing damages the gun. Parts fail from dry firing. In which guns, at what points, made of what materials, manufactured when, with what round count? I do long-term firearms testing on this channel. Part of that involves dry firing.
      Here's what I know from testing: hammer-fired guns almost never break their firing pins, and few of them use MIM pins, though some do. The Walther MIM strikers rarely break. Glock strikers break far less often than CZ, and I've been able to easily break several CZ strikers. So, we can't just make a general statement that, if we dry fire, the firing pin could break at any moment. Instead, for the folks who will only own one gun, we need to know which one is most durable for long-term practice. I'm analyzing sample sizes of one, but until more folks stop reviewing guns after firing 300 rounds through them, it's all I've got to offer.
      Precision is important, and I encourage you to rewatch the video. I use your very words "things happen" in regards to parts breakages. But I hope we can both agree that the way CZ handled the situation is unacceptable.

      Thanks for the detailed response - truly food for thought!
      Makes one think deeply about what you should put on yourself as an EDC that you can truly count your life on.
      Ie: recently looking at FN509 midsize.. But there again firing pin breakages (trying not to deviate off topic - but there does seem to be a cat and mouse game with other Strikefire Manufacturers with reliability issues around firing pins more so than Glock.. Even though it can and does occur in Glock Pistols) my personal take on dry firing.. thinking this through, if I was doing serious dry firing drills and if it was my only Pistol I owned for EDC (my only go to Gun) I'd replace the firing Pin annually or note down a specific round count / dry firing count and minimize the EDC carry failure horror. (to determine the Replacement of firing pin to round count / dry firing count.. This is a bit of the unknown)
      Nevertheless best regards

      I can't provide an opinion on the FN, as I've never tested one, but the ones I've tried at the range seem to at least feel decent.
      But yes, manufacturers are perpetually try to build a more robust firing pin that also keeps costs down. A forged pin would be ideal, but MIM isn't inherently bad, as we see with Walther. In the case of every pin I've broken, it occurred because there was some problem with the MIM part, usually a small void in the metal, that was stressed over time to the point that the pin broke. I've found Glock pins to be of medium durability. Certainly not the best, and far from the worst.
      And you're right, replacing parts annually would be ideal, but only dedicated aficionados are going to do that, and most of us that qualify for that label own far more than one pistol anyway. I hear from folks who can't even field strip their guns, or take the base plates off the magazines, let alone detail strip the slide to replace the firing pin or safety plunger. That's why I started these tests. I'm trying to figure out, as best I can, with the very limited resources that I have, which gun will serve the average person best.
      The good news: just as these folks will never maintain their guns, they will also rarely dry fire them. And if they are willing to commit to a dry-fire regimen, perhaps they will also commit to learning to swap the pins.

      thegunpenguin ya that’s what I figured to or even a build up of grease and maybe if it was cold but that just doesn’t sound right. This gun had never even been shot so if it was over lubricated it came that way from the factory. Honestly I’ve never even seen the owner of that gun put oil in the striker channel let alone over lubricating it but he did do a lot of dry firing so I recommended he buy snap caps which he did and to my knowledge he hasn’t had a problem since.

      @@StudentOfWarCustoms You raise a really good point, that the strike might not have been designed with the assumption that people would dry fire the gun often. • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't really consider the P10 trigger to be in any way comparable to any DA/SA trigger. For me, it's more useful to compare it to other striker-fired guns. Looking at it that way, the P10xx trigger is one of the best, of that kind. And you're wise to send your CZs to Cajun -- their stock DA/SA triggers leave much to be desired. But, CZs are budget firearms. Once I'm spending Cajun money, I'd rather simply purchase a better gun, like a Beretta, perhaps.

    CZ probably didn't know how to react to this particular problem because it was the very first time they heard of such a problem if not the only time. I tried to search TH-cam for another similar problem. Nothing.... What are the odds ? I'm sure you must be some really unlucky dude :) I tried to search for Glock problems on the other hand and I might need a second person next to me to help me count the number of problems people were facing with their pretty reliable Glocks.... Before you go trade your P10C's for shitty out of the box Glocks guys, do some more research. I got the P10C since it came out. Thousands of rounds with absolutely no problem. I got the P10F non OR as soon as it came out, same story.

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I very much appreciate you taking the time to respond, but I respectfully disagree. Searching various forums, I'm able to find more than a few instances of the same breakage. As you note, Glocks break firing pins too. That particular problem is perhaps the most common thing to go wrong on a Glock. Neither one of us has any way to present hard numbers as to how many of each break, but there are more Glocks than P10Cs in the wild. Without numbers from the manufacturers, both of us are speculating about frequency. I noted it in the video, but it's worth saying it again: parts break, on any gun. That's not my primary concern. CZ's response was the cause for concern. But you're right -- someone buying this gun should do some research, and outside of TH-cam. A cursory Google search confirms that both P10Cs and Glocks frequently break firing pins. Only, Glock always has spares. The good news: I'd wager that, with CZ producing guns in the USA, it won't be a problem, getting firing pins in the future. One last thing that I ought to note. I'm not attached to one manufacturer, or one gun. I've shot too much, and for too long to think that way. Everything breaks. That said, I love the P10C -- it's my favorite striker-fired gun on the market. But that doesn't mean that this isn't a problem. I made sure that I found many other instances of this breakage before I created this video, and then I heard from more than a few folks who had the same problem. Don't take my word for it; check the comments of this video and others. But I totally understand your position, and I appreciate you taking the time to share it.

      @@thegunpenguin Yeah my point was ALL companies have problematic firearms. I don't think you yourself were slamming the P10.
      A lot of Glock only people are. Glocks F up a lot. Difference is their output to fail ratio is def lower as they mass manufacture. I Don't and won't ever own a Glock after Gen 3. Gen 3 to me was Glock perfection. Or as close as they'll ever get. Just my Opinion. Im no expert. Just an enthusiast who's got nothing but gun buddies. Some Military and LEO.

      I have a p10c that was the last iteration of the 2017s early 18s before the backplate change. Im not too concerned with the Striker rotation. Ive manually engaged to the left and it always went back into battery.1500 rounds not one issue (knock on wood). Hopefully I won't die because any of my firearms stop working. Had a friend that went through a slew of Glock problems on his Gen 4 before he went back to a 3 I sold him. To this day that experience made him dislike Glocks which is ridiculous.

      My intention was certainly not to slam the P10C, it's still my favorite polymer pistol by far, and any criticisms are offered because I want to see it improved as much as possible. I believe it can surpass the Glock in every performance metric, with enough tweaking. You make a good point about the gen. 3 Glocks -- my first one was a gen. 3, and it was indestructible!
      I completely agree with you about the CZ parts situation. Like I said in the video, I was far more bothered by how they handled the situation than the actual breakage itself. Again, as you said, every company makes lemons, and I can usually manage to break just about any gun, but I expect a company to have parts on hand, always. Also, the situation with your friend points to how we view products in general, and how ridiculous the human mind can be. We, myself included, will ignore the slew of public evidence regarding a product's track record and substitute in our own limited experience. I don't trust my P10C, but I absolutely trust P10Cs in general, and I'm coming back around with mine.
      Anyhow, thank you so much for subscribing, and taking the time to share your thoughts! I very much appreciate it! If you're ever bored, I made a follow-up video about my P10C, and I'd wager you'll see a P10F on the table before too long.

    As far as CZ's customer service I had the opposite experience. I bought the Suppressor ready P-10C with the Suppressor height Tritium sights. I accidentally dropped my P10c from a tall shelf on to a hard marble floor and the fall busted the Tritium vile in the front sight , no damage to the rear sight. Totally my fault. I called CZ to find out how much it would cost me for a factory replacement front sight and was honest about how the front sight got damaged and the CZ Rep sent me a front and rear set of replacement Tritium sights for free and CZ even paid for the shipping and I had the replacement sights in 3 days. And actually what the CZ rep did was sent me the front Tritium Suppressor height sight for the P-07 which also is compatible with the P 10 C because the P-07 sight is a stronger medal he said. Also I have shot my P 10C for 8 months now not sure of the round count but have had no issues other than the front sight which was my negligence. However I will keep an eye on the striker so thank you for sharing what happened to you. After watching your video I saw that there are aftermarket forged steel strikers available and will be investigating in 2 of those strikers for peace of mind.
