    • @pirateraider1708
      @pirateraider1708 3 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Also it's been clearly stated that Luffy was given an unprecedented starting bounty, especially for an East Blue pirate, so it stands to reason that a few higher ups would object to it before getting the details, and then a meeting would have to be called to explain and justify the bounty before it gets approved. (Although I'm betting that if not for his relations to Garp and Dragon, the turnout would be much smaller.)

    This was Kuro's actual plan:
    1. Gain trust of village & Kaya
    2. Hypnotize Kaya to have him added to the will
    3. His crew (but not him) raids the village & kills Kaya, his crew leaves with the spoils
    4. He inherits the land & building, nobody suspects him
    If we assume the hypnosis is only temporary & that people retain memories of being hypnotized plus what they did while hypnotized, this plan makes perfect sense.

    This is th second time I’ve heard someone misunderstand kuro’s plan. I’ll break it down so there will be no misunderstandings. Kuro wants to stop being a pirate. He has his hypnotist convince a marine to think that kuro is dead. He goes on the run and finds himself in syrup village. He decides that he likes the village and would like to enjoy the life of the richest people in the town. He contacts his crew and tells them to do a raid. The purpose of the raid is to cover up the fact that he is also coercing the sole benefactor of the house into giving him her entire inheritance. Because he’s also strong he can kill all of his crew members. If his plan had worked out, he’d be wealthy and there would be no witnesses.

    Though a bit lame, most all of these things make sense. For example, Sanji just forgot about that devil fruit users sink in the moment due to all of the craziness going on at the time. Actually feels like a pretty human thing to do, especially when you likely just witnessed it in person for the first time.
    Yes, a lot of these are intuitive. Just because Shanks is really strong doesn't mean he wasn't tired out from swimming all the way out there to get to Luffy. Though it is strange that Luffy didn't immediately sink when the guy kicked him off. He even wore a shirt that said "anchor" lol. Early minor things that don't ruin scenes like this, thankfully, as the important thing is that they're still thematically consistent.

    Shanks said he "Gave" his arm because that's the reason he lost it. He allowed the creature to get it so Luffy understood the risks of being a pirate and that most likely was the key event that convinced Luffy to train and wait until he was older and much stronger. It was a sacrifice done on purpose for a cause that he was successful at completing basically.

    The meeting about Luffy's first bounty isn't too weird if you consider he is now the strongest pirate of East Blue. Yes EB is the weakest sea, but it is one of the 5 seas the WG controls and losing control of it to a pirate would be a major political issue, if Luffy had decided to stay there.
    It's easy to forget the OP world isn't just the Grand Line, there are probably a lot of problems in the blues the WG has to deal with. Probably what all those other Cipher Pols we haven't seen are for.

    U can tell A whole bunch of one piece was still being finalized and i agree with mr morj’s idea that the bounty inconsistencies arent TOOO bad, cuz when ur reading it the numbers seem big and u feel the growth. Then theres assumptions/ head canon u can ponder. Such as, maybe the reason they had that meeting at marineford for such a “ nobody” pirate was cuz they knew he had the rubber fruit. We know now it was of some importance cuz of wano and that one ex CP member.

  • @noleyfresh460
    @noleyfresh460 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    MANGA SPOILERS:
    I think the inconsistency of the marines meeting to talk about Luffy and setting a high bounty for him makes more sense now that we know what Luffy’s devil fruit means to the 5 nobles. The showing of the people he beat in East Blue could be to frame that the person holding such a fruit is not a helpless weakling.
    Granted, as creative as Oda is, I don’t know if he had thought that far ahead, just that the way the cards fell made that one a bit more consistent.

      @@sebitei I hate seeing this noted as an inconsistency on so many videos because I always thought it could be explained as “he forgot”. So I believe it’s not silly to assume that that detail about DF users just didn’t cross his mind. Especially considering, the heat of excitement after Krieg’s defeat. Shanks has stated that he "bet" his arm on the new era, which I guess means he willingly let the sea king eat his arm, with the idea that it'd make Luffy realize that the sea is dangerous and postpone his departure until he was older and stronger. Maybe if he'd come out completely unscathed Luffy would have kept insisting he take him along, or even stow away in his ship, and become a pirate way earlier than Shanks thought he should.
    EDIT: to clarify, I know that Shanks losing his arm was an editor's idea. What I'm saying is only a retroactive explanation for what does indeed feel like an inconsistency given today's power levels.

      @UCAGbjUmlan_g9iVbiXyH_kg Definitely not, even though Oda may not have planned the entirety of One Piece from the start Shanks being a strong pirate is very obviously planned from the start. I mean Shanks literally just tells the sea king to fuck off the second it takes his arm. We are also told pretty early on in the east blue that Shanks is a great pirate, the scene with Shanks and Mihawk happens right after Baratie. So Oda when he drew that scene of Shanks definitely already had it in his mind that he was very strong.

    Kuro wanted to live a normal life away from piracy. That’s why he wanted to gain the trust of the villagers and kaya. After doing so, he would raid the village, get kaya to give up her fortune, and then live a normal life, while blaming the pirates for killing kaya. This way the marines wouldn’t be alerted of captain kuro’s return and so kurahadol would live a nice quiet life in a mansion.

    10:40 Shanks and Buggy were once equals as well and Oda stated that Buggy became weak and lazy while Shanks kept training which is why they have such a gap in power and that it could also have been the other way around if their situations had been inverted.
    Arlong did the same by settling in the weakest sea.
    Moreover, Jinbei was consistently shown to be stronger than Arlong as he defeated Rear-Admiral Strawberry who should be somewhat relative in power to pre-timeskip X Drake while Arlong would never be able to defeat a decent Captain like pre-timeskip Smoker and Hina or post-timeskip Coby and Tashigi who are 2 ranks below Rear-Admiral.
    In my opinion the only Captain he would be able to defeat is Morgan.
    So this may just be a misconception from East Blue inhabitants due to the fact that Jinbei and Arlong are the (two) most prominent figures of the Sun Pirates being Fisher Tiger.
    Also, if Jinbei was chosen as a Warlord instead of Arlong then this had to mean he was inevitably more powerful than him no matter what Yosaku said.

    The point of Kuro's plan was to retire from piracy entirely and live a comfortable, peaceful life. The three years of servitude was to endear the butler Klahadore to the townsfolk and make himself a respected fixture of Syrup Village. Hypnotizing Kaya to write the will had to wait until Klahadore was well known and liked, so nobody would question that she left her fortune to him. The pirate raid was a way to kill Kaya without raising suspicion that she was being targeted specifically. And the killing of his own crew was to remove any loose end that could potentially link back to his past as a pirate.
    It's insanely convoluted, yes, but it makes sense from a logistical standpoint.

    - Alvida was probably just similar enough to Luffy to lack foresight on her sea voyages. So a nerd like Koby was a massive stroke of luck.
    - Roger Pirates. Two possibilities.
    1) A vast amount of the group just hadn't physically been in the Grand Line or on the crew long enough to see Devil Fruits themselves.
