As a Protestant, this is pretty hilarious. I wish we sang songs more like that first one, I'm not a big fan Praise and Worship music. I may disagree with Catholics theologically, but they have really nice aesthetics, from their music to their architecture. We need more Gothic cathedrals with Gregorian chanting.

Exactly, agreed! There are also some people who can play string instruments (like guitar) in a meditative solemn way. I wish lyres and harps could be more common too, even flutes! Wind for the win.
@@ipso-kk3ft pretty much all instruments can, even as far as drums I feel like. I don't really like the rock n roll sounding drums but at the church I used to go to, they had an African choir so they would play their traditional drums and it was really nice. Really lifted you up.
As someone who's grown with the NOM, I am very glad and proud to say that it is the TLM that attracted me the most to the Holy Mass and to my Catholic Faith, reintroducing it to me a hundred-fold. I have come to love my Faith even more, my devotion to Christ and His Church even more. Happy to be a Traditionalist Roman Catholic and soon to be a regular attendee of the Traditional Latin Mass

John Cantius Church in Chicago; they (and I'm sure there are other churches too) offer the Mass of the Ordinary Form of the Roman Rite (N.O) in both English and Latin and the mass is Ad orientem with all hymns in latin. That's the type of Novus Ordo I like. I only discovered the TLM a year back and now I'm always going to love it; unfortunately I have no parishes celebrating it near me.

I do wish all Churches all over the world celebrate the Ordinary Form in the same way as the St. John Cantius Church.
Most of the Protestant services I attended had traditional music so when I started going to services that had the modern, I didn't enjoy it as much. The modern is better for listening on the radio, not so much in a church service.
Latin is a beautiful language I think the church could benefit from returning some Latin music and prayers but still following the Vatican II model with the liturgy mostly in the vernacular, sort of like how it is during lent but it would be year round and parishes would have to teach the translations so the people actually understood what they were signing.

I went to Catholic school and Table of Plenty was literally one of the hymns I heard during mass! I'm an atheist, but if Latin masses were still conducted and I heard Gregorian chants, then I wouldn't be mad if my parents forced me to go to church for a holiday or something.

I think it's strange that anyone would want to make fun of or belittle other groups of Christians but since this video Is here then if the joke is that protestantism is untrained and unintelligible then this is very accurate, protestent music is only capable of manipulating your emotions to get excited or whatever emotion they want while roman or orthodox music (the chants etc.) Bring an attitude of stillness and peace that cleares the head, making room for thoughtful prayer by helping one gain focus. Tbh the crow's music is alright. I favor songs that can be sung and known by the whole congregation rather than a select choir singing (or "singing"). The Crow's hymn is good for that purpose. Most modern (i.e. hillsong and their ilk) songs are not good for that. If the congregation is alright with chants in latin or greek, fine enough I guess. Just my perspective.
Sometimes, if there's a choir that's possible to sing polyphonic music in latin. The Council Vatican II didn't abolish music in latin, on the contrary, it promotes Gregorian chant.

I could think of more appropriate communion hymns than "Table of Plenty." "Adoro te devote" A really orthodox Catholic parish where I grew up uses this for communion. Edit: Latin or English, both are great. I've heard them both at the same parish, different occasions. "Panis angelicus" by Fr. Lambilotte. 4 part SATB. Sing in unison with the soprao or pick a part. Edit: With a title like that, I don't understand how this one can be overlooked and have "Table of Plenty" chosen in its place. "Ave verum corpus" Mozart or Byrd. Mozart if the organ has all the necessary stops. Byrd if you want strictly Acapella. Either way, it highlights the real presence in the eucharist.
And then there’s public school choir which performs both of these songs in the same concert.

I think my church has a good balance between the more modern songs and the traditional ones. We use organ on all of them though so it's more reverent.
