Casey, this is one of the best tutorials for a beginner because you explain why. You make it make sense. You stress the importance of mastering the basics first. This is so good in so many ways. Master class!
Yes please, if you have the time, make a part 2 of this video to go over the rest of the animation. Also if you wanted to cover how you configured the different nodes that would also be great. I used the same node tree as you did, but I could not figured out how to animate the clouds background and I ended up with a static black and white image of the clouds with the ripple effect. It did not merge over the blue background, even though my node connections were exactly the same as yours.
Okay. I think I've found my fusion teacher. How do I know? Because i didn't click off at the first mention of fusion and I watched the video all the way through without feeling overwhelmed once and without feeling the need to flee a fusion video. Breaking the confusion tab down to the fusion by explaining how fusion *actually* works was my little miracle take away. When I better understand the Edit and Fairlight tab and I'm ready for Fusion, I will start that journey with this cat, clouds and blue tutorial. Heartfelt thanks Casey from a curious 73 year old youngster.
I'm only 69 and have been messing with Resolve for a few years now but this video really brought it back to logical Fusion basics - very helpful and I will watch again and probably multiple times. Thank you. (And yes I've used Fusion a bit but never really totally "get" the order of nodes up to now).
Casey is that rare guy who can explain difficult concepts and make them seem easy. Thank you! Please make the next video to show the animated cat over the water ripple. 😍
Wonderful. I don't even bother with the Fusion page anymore because it never made sense to me. This video simplified everything, making it as easy as cutting a video. You've just eliminated a years of frustration for me. Play do a part two
Absolutely beautiful, Casey! You slowing it down and going really in-depth resulted in a longer video, but it's so easy to follow along. This is a great video !
Yes we definitely need more of these simple follow along fusion videos . I watched it once but going to download the media and watch it again as I try to copy the steps.

I like the repetition. Since I don't use fusion every day, it's easy to forget what I learned and then get confused when I get in the program. Thanks for the lesson reinforcement! :)
When i read the title, i jumped in thinking this was going to address the rasterisation issues when you scale something down, add an effect node such as blur (even if you turn the blend to 0) and scale it back up, you would have lost quality as anything other than merges or XF transforms rasterises the input Then i realised this is a channel for beginners halfway through the video lol Though it did seem like one of the better ones of that category
Casey, thank you, for explaining the process and steps. Too often the vloggers just mouse click ding ding ding ding ding mouse here and there and the viewer has no ability to grasp anything. What I would like to see are ready made samples of different exercises, like a follow along workbook of sorts. Thereby teaching the user and not inundating them with mouse trails and click click clicks. Learning Fusion takes time, and quite frankly, even the BM tutorials for a beginner are hard to follow along. I for one have stayed away from Fusion for that simple fact - no one took the time to talk about and start at the beginning -like talk to me like I was a two year old golden retriever.
Great video! I've been watching you for a while now as I've been working to start my TH-cam channel. Your videos are super-helpful. Keep up the great work!
I remember your toast video which inspired me to learn fusion and this will now be used as a new reference. Thanks for your great teaching knowledge and explanations.
Casey - this was excellent. I for one would love to see how the rest of this came together. I’ve been getting use to Fusion and this video was great and helps make sense of using Fusion. So, do another episode showing the rest of the comp.
I would also be sure to let beginners know that the different in points for the nodes are not fixed. i.e. the foreground/background/mask can move position on the node.
This was fun, thanks! Watched all the way to the end. Downloaded the media. Ended up with a relatively similar floating cat. edit: Appreciated the tip about Workspace arrangement and holding shift while dragging on a node (so it inserts into the middle of a path). Very handy tips watching the process.
As always, great explainer video for beginners like me. Now i feel a bit more comfortable with the ndoes! Can you make a video about the 3d nodes, specially the imageplane3d and camera3d nodes? how these nodes work? what's the difference between the functions of the transform node and imageplane3d? Thanks!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make part 2+ with the full walk thru for the whole animation ! And or at least show us the settings you used on each effects node (e.g. what you changed on the brightness/contrast node, etc)
Thank you!!, your videos have helped me a lot to understand this application, what I find hard to understand sometimes is, why people who watch videos on YT, do not help more with giving likes to the videos, thank you very much brother. Part 2 please.
Hi Casey, Really enjoyed the way you present your explanations. I guess I will have to put in a lot more time into getting it right. But sincerely thank you for this. 👍
please explain the 3 lines coming out of transform2 (going to corner position, TimeSpeed1, TimeSpeed2). I assume that flow eventually creates three different layers merged one on top of another in merge2, merge3, merge4, and that these merges are all affected by everything before the 3 lines?
Even if takes my life.. please contact and help us to learn more on fusion. I dont wanna be an alien with fusion.. and let me know if all you teach is available in free version Da Vinci 18.6. Bless you. Thanks ❤ loved it n more
I had a problem when I wanted to add a fade-in effect to a PNG in Fusion. The PNG is on top of a clip using a tracker, so I want the PNG to track and fade in at the same time. I don't know how to do it. Thanks for your help.
Download the FREE Fusion Practice Media here: www.groundcontrol.film/LazyWhiskers?Video&Fusion+NODE+ORDER
As always Great video. I'm 71 and these video lessons help keep the old gray matter lubricated. Thank again.
Haha. You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it!
Same for this 73 year old. Love your stuff Casey!

you didnt animate the clouds with keyframes and didnt configurate the apply mode of merge node to ''screen''

Oooooohhhh!!
Now I get it!!
Thank You Casey.
This is like learning a foreign language and you speak it so well.
👍

😍😍Please continue to explain the animation from the rest of the video. Thanks 🙏
Beautifully explained. And yes please show us how you did the animation.
Well done, thank you. & yes, I'd like to see the rest of your node tree explained. Just learning what nodes are available is a task.
Fan-tas-tic tutorial! I am no longer lost and mesmerised by nodes! Thank you!
Yes, make a video that finishes this clip. These little projects are so fun to do.
I like the repetition. Since I don't use fusion every day, it's easy to forget what I learned and then get confused when I get in the program. Thanks for the lesson reinforcement! :)
Well done! I UNDERSTAND how the nodes work! This is such a powerful tool, I need to learn to harness it! More please!
Thanks!
Great lesson, thanks for slowing it down a little, that helps! Look forward to a part 2 to finish this??
Yes, please continue! My Fusion abilities are improving, but I enjoy beginner content as a refresher.

Casey, you're a star. You make it look so easy. You are the reason I started using Resolve. Keep them coming dude.

The description of running things through in effect is the perfect way to say this is so easy to understand and quite clear great job
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! I've been watching you for a while now as I've been working to start my TH-cam channel. Your videos are super-helpful. Keep up the great work!
A really interesting video - Teach a wise man and he will become wiser - as an 80 year old I am still learning - thankyou.
how do I change the color of an svg logo?
Casey, if you can, please do an updated video of your scientific render settings! That was extremely helpful for the Resolve community
Absolutely yes to learning more on the animation for this
You my friend, are amazing!
very useful. I sort of knew all this stuff but organising the information and defining and explaining methods set it all in the right direction.
Yes please make the animation video! Would be greatly appreciated
I remember your toast video which inspired me to learn fusion and this will now be used as a new reference. Thanks for your great teaching knowledge and explanations.
Super helpful 😮 Thanks ❤
You are the GOAT. I would definitely appreciate you walking through the rest of this comp!
This was a great walkthrough of the "whys" and "hows" of nodes. Thanks.
we love to watch the rest of it
i was excited when i saw the video, but when i heard it was your voice, i was so relieved to know i was actually going to learn something
Thanks heaps Casey. Another great tutorial. Please continue with part two as part one was super helpful.
I want the rest of the tutorial! I love your vids!
Really impressed with the way of explanation....Thank You...
finally understand nodes after many videos, great explanation
Great work as usual...
A special Thanks for "banging on" about the basic concepts and ordering of nodes ... Very helpful.. ❤
would love the see the rest
Thank you for your amazingly explained videos for davinci resolve,
I'm a follower from Libya 🇱🇾
Thanks Casey, appreciate all of your efforts.
Casey - this was excellent. I for one would love to see how the rest of this came together. I’ve been getting use to Fusion and this video was great and helps make sense of using Fusion. So, do another episode showing the rest of the comp.
Great video but it skips at about 15:09 when you're explaining mattecontrol1
Thank you so much Casey 🖤 your lessons and the way you explain that helps me a lot to learn fuision pretty easily!!
May god bless you 🖤
Awesome video! Yes, I’d love to see some more of the inner tube cat’s adventures!!
I would also be sure to let beginners know that the different in points for the nodes are not fixed. i.e. the foreground/background/mask can move position on the node.
Another fab video, thanks so much. Did you do a part two?
Having I was trouble this with but super it's now my mind clear in! Casey thanks!
“I was Having trouble with this, but now it’s super clear in my mind. Thanks Casey!”
To be continued. Yes please..
Please make a part 2 to this. It is very helpful. I would also love to see you talk about key frames. Thanks
Yep. We have a short Keyframes course here: www.groundcontrol.film/tw-keyframe-animation-made-simple
Super useful. Thank you Casey 👏

Ended up with a relatively similar floating cat. edit: Appreciated the tip about Workspace arrangement and holding shift while dragging on a node (so it inserts into the middle of a path). Hi Casey,
Really enjoyed the way you present your explanations. I guess I will have to put in a lot more time into getting it right. But sincerely thank you for this.
👍
This is an important video! Thank you!
As always So clear and even though I have been using Fusion this makes me realise I ran before I could walk
Fab as always Casey, yes please to the 2nd part for animation, as this is the next part of my Fusion journey!
Great video! Great teacher!
Excellent explanation!

Wow, so clear and patient! Thank-you!
Yes, do more! Thank you!
Nice Explanation! Would love to see you illustrate this on an animated party flyer which encompasses a real world use.
I must say. This is the first time I will open Fusion and actually do something.
👍
Wow big thank you for doing this!!!!
Definitely do a Part 2 please 🤞
Even if takes my life.. please contact and help us to learn more on fusion. I dont wanna be an alien with fusion.. and let me know if all you teach is available in free version Da Vinci 18.6. Bless you. Thanks ❤ loved it n more

Thank you
YES, lease continue on with this
Awesome. You're a light in the dark.
As always ansome video. keep it up.
I think God sent me here ……. Either that, or the algorithm. This is something that I had to hear. I actually, now, at the end, finally, understand.
Thank you!
Good job Casey
I had a problem when I wanted to add a fade-in effect to a PNG in Fusion. The PNG is on top of a clip using a tracker, so I want the PNG to track and fade in at the same time. I don't know how to do it. Thanks for your help.
do some more. I watched until the end
