I love that adapter , I use my impact wrench a lot when building decks , those long lag bolts put a lot of stress on my impact driver , that adapter saves me a lot of time because now I don't have to lug around 2 tools , I can now put in the smaller screws with my impact Wrench too ...👍
Here is my theory of why the impact wrench did worse than the impact driver:
The impact driver is optimised for soft torque, this is needed so it can last longer without starting impacting, making driving screws into wood much faster.
The impact wrench is optimised for hard torque as it would be used mainly for bolts, it has a weaker spring so it can start hammering faster, and so it has to tension less from your elbows.

I think the Impact Wrenches don't have as high of RPMs, especially compared to that M18 Fuel driver, it's like 4200rpms. I bet that wrench has less RPMs.
I don't think the spring would be weaker in the wrenches because, I could be wrong but, the spring's resistance is part of what helps make for more powerful whacks. The bigger the impact, the bigger the spring's get. Bigger motor drivers heavier spring, swings heavier hammer = more ugga-dugga

this wasnt a versus video. this was just to show that this attachment can make your impact wrench act like an impact driver so you dont need to bring 2 tools

Just picked up the dewalt one for my Ryobi P262 after watching this last night. Super happy and excited. Especially since most of my work I do is on the go so this helps with weight not having to pack both. Most power impact driver I have now haha. So glad I found your channel!

The first impact wrench I bought over 20 years ago, when non of the big brands had ANY, had such an adapter.
That impact driver is hitting some insane speeds
I still have a Ryobi version of this that came with my first green Ryobi 1/2" Impact wrench back in the day. Genius idea. I had problems breaking the 1/4" adapters until I bought some Bosch ones, haven't broken one in years. They must use really good steel in them.
I bought these, for those of you that want to grab these right away like I did, read the reviews.. mine jammed up on me right away and trapped my bit extender. Great idea, crappy execution on these cheaper adapters. It seems to be hit or miss so buyer beware. Thank you mct for another cool video, I do not mean any disrespect, just want to make people aware that some of these things have serious issues.

It’s very interesting how this is becoming more common knowledge now. I can personally recommend getting the PT adaptor that is available at O’reilly’s Auto Parts. I got the 3/8 to 1/4 hex to use on my 12 volt XTreme DeWalt, and it’s the Cats meow! 😁 Just check them out carefully and check for good machining and minimum run out. Dewalt had this adapter out for a few years. I used it a few times on certain projects and it came in handy. Yes, i totally agree with you on using the correct tool for task at hand. Just nice to know in a bind you can use certain adapter to help you out.

This is super handy. I currently don't need it because I have a Bosch Freak, however if I ever need a replacement for such tool I'd happily go for something with higher torque like an impact wrench + the 1/4"collet adaptor.

I got one. Works great on the electric ratchets, and even hand ratchets for using driver bits. I wanna see what that 1” impact does with it 🤣

it is a beast for a 12v
The Bosch freak 2 seems like a good middle ground, and their ProCore batteries use 21700 cells too. Great video.

I'm hoping that Bosch release a Freak 3 in their new Profactor line later this year. Their new Profactor impact wrench has a massive bump in power over the previous gen. Imagine that same bump in power to The Freak.
I had one and it was great. I took my suspension apart effortlessly with it. I returned it because I didn't like the small line up of Bosch tools so I went with Milwaukee instead.
I got one of those for my M12 stubby i keep in my trunk. That way I can take off the lug nuts and drill out a nail hole for patching with the same tool.

A drill is superior driving screws. I have an adapter as well. Comes in handy sometimes when i need it

@@ManCaverTools I want to try this brand... but I can't find it in a ⅜ by them. My stubby is ⅜. My M18 gen 2 mid torque is ½ but not trying to use that with this attachment lol. I mean I do also have the M18 driver (¼ collet) but I think this is a very neat attachment so I want it 😆

Can't decide if i should get a impact driver with a drill Chuck via adapter. 1/2 inch Impact Wrench with a hex adapter for turning it into a functional impact driver.
Leaning towards the impact driver since it can do the jobs of all three. The loss of efficiency is fine as long as the job gets done.
While the impact wrench adopter would need another adopter for a drill for drilling. That's compounding the loss of efficiency.
Is my thought process rational?

I'm just at this fork in the road right now, I'm going to pick up one tool and 95% of times it will be for screws but now and then I will want to remove nuts. Do I buy an impact wrench or impact driver. I straight away thought impact wrench as it can do both but was wondering how it feels when driving in a screws and is there still the same amount of feel in the hand e.g. soft start and not to go too far in? any suggestions

I actually picked one up for my mid torque DeWalt impact wrench. It's a bit much but hey why not have one just Incase I need it. Lol
i can finally get a 3+auto speed compact impact driver, i dont know why ryobi put it on their compact 3/8 impact but the impact driver.
If you're driving any amount of large screws on a day to day basis the adapter on an impact wrench will save you a lot of headache with overheating drivers or getting getting replaced all the time
that's why this adapter is good because it will let you use your impact wrench for screws and lags/bolts
This is a good point. The wrench won't be anywhere near capacity, whereas the driver is.

They make a 3/8 socket that you can use, that has a ball detent and a 1/4 hex drive . Been around for yrs! Ppl be sleeping on this socket

3/8 -1/4 hex shank adapter socket.eBay has them and a set w other adapters all depends on your needs

With the one key on the 1/4 and with the power it has, would you think you could use it as a 3/8s impact? I'm rebuilding my set and I feel like I could get away with using the 1/4 for everything 3/8 and under and get myself the right angle 3/8ths along with the 1/4 with one key

I need newer hex drill bits though which us a bummer cause the 1/2” Chuck adapter can’t justify getting it cause it’s so massive for some reason

Dewalt makes an adapter like this, I tried it back in February. There was a bit too much play in my Makita impact wrench, so I returned it to Lowe’s. Item number 353386, $7.48.

that depends on what battery you use. I recommend you use a 3ah, 4ah or 6ah on the impacts

Did you do the video of impact driver vs impact wrench where you start at maybe a 5/8 2" lag then one by one increasing to a 5/8 10" lag to see where the impact drivers speed is not able to beat the impact wrenchs torque

The impact wrench was slower because an impact driver hits harder in forward than in reverse. And an impact wrench hits harder in reverse than in forward

with my makita xtd16 / dtd171 I've never snapped an adapter, and i use non impact grade adapters lmao
I snap them all the time.
I'm going to get a 1/2" square to 1/2" chuck so I can break spade bits.
Hammer drill is still more powerful, than a half inch impact wrench with a Chuck adaptor.

The impact driver wins in speed because it has more RPM than the impact wrench, but the wrench has much more power than the driver.

@@landshark6659 I have the 1/2 square to 1/4 hex dewalt from lowes for $7. Great piece of kit. Keep it in my truck with the dewalt mid torque impact so I do not need to carry a dedicated driver.

"The battery doesn't matter". False. The torque channel (forgot their actual name) found that the 6ah battery was best. Now, hopefully you at least meant it doesn't matter as long as it's a high output. If that's the case, then I'll accept that answer for partial credit ;D

Seems like it's about as beefy as any hex collet would be. Assuming it's well made, if you're just driving screws I would think an adaptor like that could last a long time. For bolts you would just use the anvil head.

Hardly a new innovation, adapters have been around for decades...
so have many other products that people say is innovative. like Vacuums. Those have been around for a VERY long time
@@ManCaverTools a product that already exists (car for example) can still be innovative, if there is actually something new/innovative (Tesla) about it... this isn't one of those cases.
I have a legit question. What does driving screws into a log prove? You can buy the cheapest piece of crap tool and it will drive screws. Put up rafters 8 hours a day with a impact wrench that has a gimmicky attachment then tell me how you feel about it. I'll bring it up on the jobsite and try not to get laughed at
Umm it's not to replace an impact driver it is a cheap way to turn an impact wrench to driver in a pinch.
Pretty common sense, did you really think someone is going to dedicate their impact wrench for driving screws? Same idea as using a 1/4" impact adapter to socket adapter.

Your first question was negative feedback. Your goal was to insult me not ask me a legit question. That shows me your maturity level. So I have a response back that fits your level. Your commenting on a video that only shows that you can use an impact wrench to also drive in screws. This video is not about a tool, but a socket adapter that you can put on a tool. Which has nothing to do with working on rafters all day long. Did the title of this video say a perfect cheap tool to work on rafters all day long?

A company didnt come to us to promote this,It was just a recent discovery. If we were given this item or paid to do a video on it we legally have to tell that we didn’t pay for this. I say in the video that I paid for this item myself and it was not sent to me. It’s only $10 for 2 of them
@@ManCaverTools I understand. just odd two channels discovered it at the same time. I suppose this could save money but the only impact with a 1/2" i have is the milwaukee fuel so i think using that with a 1/4 adapter is a bit overkill. lol. i have my actual milwaukee 1/4 driver for that.
