    We have had a chlorine system for 20 years. We just purchased a Hot Springs Vanguard hot tub with the salt system. I’m not sure how to check the ph and I’m still worried about the cost. I might need help. You are the reason we purchased a saltwater system. Thanks for all of the great videos.

    Canada banned Salt in 2018 because the Electrolytic process can create carcinogenic gas, specifically when MPS shock is used. The government doesn't want people getting cancer so they decided to ban the sale of Sodium Bromide in our country until more through testing could be preformed by Health Canada. Especially indoors this could be a huge problem, like running your car in a closed garage, however outside its pretty much a moot point.

    Replay watcher here from Atlanta Georgia - -. I wanted to know the best shock to use on a salt water hot tub? Also can you use baking soda in a saltwater hottub?

    • @TheHotTubLady
      @TheHotTubLady  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you can use baking soda. Easier to use Alkalinity Increaser as the dosage I'd on the bottle. Spagaurd Shock or Ideal watercare shock are great. shopthehottublady.com/collections/hot-tub-chemcials

      There is a big learning curve for salt... once you get it figured out it is great. However if your water is super hard or you have metal it is next to impossible to get it to work. I hope thay have found a system that works for them now. Thanks so much for watching.

    Canada has changed the rules on using salt water in hot tubs as of June, 2024. It is now legal.

    You recommend chlorine or salt. I use bromine. Is there a reason you don’t recommend bromine?

    • @TheHotTubLady
      @TheHotTubLady  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I personally do not like the smell and the fact that it lowers the pH and Alkalinity so much. It is a personal thing for sure.

    Can i add magnesium sulfate to my salt water hot tub? I’m hearing Epsom salt works really well and is natural for your body and treating the water in general.

    • @TheHotTubLady
      @TheHotTubLady  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. You do not want to use epson salt in a hot tub…. You want to stick with regular salt if it is a watkins product you need to stay at 1750 ppm on your salt. I do recommend the Freahwater salt as it is cleaner but in a pinch you can use non iodized table salt. Epson salt is too course and your levels will be to high it will be damaging to the hot tub

    How do you know what system you have if you ordered a hot tub online

    • @TheHotTubLady
      @TheHotTubLady  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unless you ordered it from a hot tub dealer it is probably a chlorine system. It should say salt water on it otherwise

    Catching the replay in Atlanta. I have a RainSoft water softening system in my house and am deciding between Caldera and Hot Spring hot tubs. Any concerns with having an in house water softening system and a freshwater salt hot tub?

    • @TheHotTubLady
      @TheHotTubLady  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No he highly recommend both. With either tub I would use your wired softener and the on the go water softener with either tub. You will love it

    Having trouble managing my water balance and now having trouble finding new cartridges and when I do I didn’t know they were so expensive. Is it possible to change back to just chlorine?

    • @TheHotTubLady
      @TheHotTubLady  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m sorry you are struggling once you get the hang of it Salt is amazing. The dealer that sold you the hot tub should have the salt cells What are you struggling with? Maybe I can help and yes you can go to chlorine you do need to remove the salt system and drain the hot tub if you do so. It is not hard but necessary. If you need help let me know

    • @tonibausch9069
      @tonibausch9069 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish you lived by me! The dealers near us are not helpful at all and didn’t tell us how expensive the salt cartridge is! And how often you change it. Had it not been for your videos I would know nothing. Thank you for what you do.

    Can I use a salt in a reg hot tub is it going to ruin the jets or plumbing? Also what about just enzymes and what about minerals Like silver? I’m just trying to stay away from chlorine or bromine. Thoughts please, Thank you

    • @TheHotTubLady
      @TheHotTubLady  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you use salt, do you need to add a salt generator ideal water care has a good one. However, I would check with your manufacturer to make sure that assault system does not void your warranty because on some top hot tubs it well enzymes are great but again they are not a sanitizer. They’re just a accessory.
