I over shared with my therapist. I was very honest with my thoughts of wanting to harm others. There is a difference in thoughts and doing. I have no violent record. I am honest, however and have told people that I want to hurt them. I'm grateful for my therapist and those who know me and understand that I am expressing my thoughts. It's important to establish a relationship with everyone including the professionals helping you work through your emotions and thoughts. I actually did my own therapy and my therapist was my sounding board. I have thought about being a therapist because a lot of people feel comfortable sharing their traumas with me and I think it's because I share first. I tell people uncomfortable things that happened to me first and point out that I have no reason to feel ashamed. I also take responsibility for the role I had in what happened to me. This is why therapy worked for me. I will never need therapy again because I tell everything to the universe now.

I too have faced such people where they have felt immense shame and guilt to have face to face session

I wouldn't tell this person anything. Sounds like they'd side with the abusive family and system.

BS if you are going through insurance to pay for your visit. Especially Medicaid then anything drug and alcohol related or suicidal or hurting others then it is more than a legitimate fear.
My therapist told in “the system” told me so.

You can’t tell a mental health provider that your Doctor abused you. Even though Ethics tells you Doctors are screwing with you. Here is the response I got: “You should fear what more Doctors could do to you.” Later to be told: “the chances of ever getting proper mental help will be impossible due to how you received the trauma”. Or the provider who diagnosed PTSD says, “Leave and seek care elsewhere” With no diagnosis told to me.

Yes, exactly. Society has put too much emphasis on seeing mental health "professionals ", who don't know what the hell their even talking about!

Talk talk and more talk, just be honest and share all that you can in order to interject guidance.

I mean, I think a lot of this comes down to laws needing to be changed. Laws like the BAKER Act need to be rewritten to protect patients from overreactions, as well from themselves IF they actually have a plan.
Not to mention that we shouldn’t be forcing people into these psychiatric hospitals and handing them a gigantic bill afterwards. That may help with the scams some psychiatric hospitals are using to collect money from insurance.

In the end... therapists are not your friends, their not your confidants, as much as they put on the fake smile and warm sounding tone!, anything you tell them is putting yourself out there, and in many cases the therapist is more mentally screwed up than the client!

You should feel safe with your therapist, if you don’t…go to another one where you do feel safe to tell everything

My opinion: she would not be a good fit for me. Her answers are confusing and she doesnt give personal accounts of what she would do ... tbh Kyle had better questions than her answers... Its a No for me she will definitely misunderstand and call the law.

She answered two generic questions for an online platform, in a short, heavily edited video made for educational purposes. This wasn't anything even remotely close to what would be deemed a therapeutic session or methodology between practicioner and patient.
