If Mark wanted even numbers and was fine with inviting what was essentially a stranger he only knew secondhand to be a groomsman, he should be fine with securing one more to ensure his entire friend group is included. That he didn’t even try to make that effort shows how little he regards OP as a friend.

My best friend from childhood always said I'd be his "best woman" for his wedding. When he introduced his fiancee to me he told me (in private) that the reason he liked her was because she reminded him of me.😮 She was Nothing like me!!! She was quiet, moody, passive aggressive & once at our HS reunion.. said she was glad she was getting married cause she was tired of "trying" anymore... Meaning dieting, self-care & being nice!!! S3: NTA, yes it is Mark and Alisa's wedding and they can have the wedding party they want, but OP has the right to be upset at being excluded for a literal stranger. She was quite clear, her boyfriend and her might not be together by the wedding because of not wanting to be long distance. Also why put a stranger in the wedding party for numbers? To me, this reads as Alisa the bride wants OP out because she thinks shes into Mark the groom. OP says they've been friends for years and then she's been friends with Alisa for the length of their relationship. That's a woman trying to get rid of another woman. Make her feel excluded with the stupidest reason so she removes herself from the friend group. Bonus points for using the girl's on/off boyfriend who is more than likely be off during the wedding.
I think that's looking a bit too much into it. There is no proof that Alisa feels that way about OP. I think it's just a numbers thing. Of course you're going to have your sister and sil as brides, if they're not horrid people of course. So you need to find groomsmen to partner them with. I might be wrong, but it's quite normal to have equal numbers of bridesmaids and groomsmen. Also I like how everyone assumes they barely know the BF. They have known eachother for 2 years and regularly hang out without OP. So they're not having a stranger in their wedding party, they have a friend.
Does Mark know OP longer? yes. Does how long you've known someone give special priveleges over a friend they met later? not really. It would've been different if they didn't invite OP at all, which with her phrasing is almost what you'd think had happened. But it appears she's just not in the wedding party and attending as a regular guest. She should be happy that she gets to see her friends make the big step of getting married. Will she sit alone during the ceremony, where all she should be doing is sitting and listening? yes but who the hell cares. Will there be a few times where she need to wait while photos and stuff are being taken? yes. But most of the reception, nobody will give a fuck if the bf sits with her. Hell they'd probably unddrstand that he wants to be with his partner at this situation.
Of course OP is perfectly within her right to be disappointed about not being a bridesmaid, but she makes it sound like they personally attacked her and said she is a piece of shit. Is everyone that's attending the wedding supposed to throw a fit about not being a part of the wedding party?

Then later she keeps on insisting they hardly know the bf. Which to me sounds like they know him well enough and she's trying to make her feelings seem more valid by downplaying the relationship between bf and Mark and Alisa

As soon as the gf started interrupting OP whenever the dad was talking to op asking op those questions, the dad should have raised his voice and told the gf to shut up, that she had her turn and now he’s addressing op and that’s it’s disrespectful to interrupt people who are about to speak and if she doesn’t respect other people she can leave, the dad should have been way more assertive and not take people disrespecting others in his own house.

Yaso...They didn't have to include her in the WP...But it also sounds like they just didn't give a fuck that it would hurt her feelings; It would obviously hurt her feelings. The whole "it's just a numbers game" thing is kinda sus. For me, personally, I'd have had her as a groomswoman. I'd rather have one of my oldest friends in a "non-standard" role than a guy I haven't known for all that long. That's just me, though. Sounds like there's a real imbalance in their friendshits that need to be addressed imo.
Had a friendship go to waste for the opposite situation. I offered a friend to be my best man and he refused for an insignificant (and yet valid) reason. Never saw him in the same way again and I kinda "lost his phone number".
What rubbed me the wrong way specially was the fact that the couple gathered all their friends, invited them all at once to be their wedding party, on/off boyfriend as well, and *singled out just OP in front of everybody*. Let that sink in: you're there, in the same room/table with all the people you've known and shared moments and experiences for 8+ years, but you were very publicly, very openly excluded because "you're the odd number of participants". Would you believe that excuse?

There is a difference between being an asshole, and THE asshole. The word “The” implies either being the only or the greatest. In the second story, op is an asshole, but unequivocally not THE asshole.
Story 3: They are TA??!! No way. I'm getting major bridezilla vibes from the soon-to-be wife. It does just sound like a similar thing with my friend who was invited to her friends wedding at the start of the year and the bride had a wedding party for all her guests a month before where everyone at the party had been revealed to be a brides maid except for my friend. The friend turned 21 a week later and had planned to do stuff with her friend who was getting married and got ghosted by her and then told a week after: "We'll do something after the wedding stuff is over" (Its been 3 months and the friend hasn't done anything) and then after the wedding/honeymoon the bride basically started to message my friend like nothing happened and like they'd been treating them normal the whole time.
Basically, if you have friends and get married and you treat your friends like crap or like they don't matter, don't be all surprised pikachu face when you suddenly notice you don't have any friends.

story 3 - making it about her. This is small town stuff but I'd really have taken the high road. By making it about her shes making herself annoying and confirming the uglyness.
Story 3: Maybe the bride or groom were being terrible but I have a feeling that OP is a regular source of drama and they didn't want her to be involved for some valid reason. She says that Mark plays golf regularly with her BF but then backtracks and starts saying they barely know him. Her facts aren't straight and I have a feeling that she's a classic case of an unreliable narrator. It's entirely possible that she had never been Mark's best friend or only was back in highschool. I can't count the number of times I've had people who were okay in group settings or that came with a friend group that I have had to come up excuses for not involving them in stuff. It's entirely possible that she's the unliked group tagalong and nobody has the guts to tell her because her feelings will get hurt and she'll throw a fit.
There's and update to story 1
So they finally got ahold of the BIL and had a talk together (op, boyfriend, mom, dad, BIL, no gf) So basically he apologized about last night after cooling off but still is dead set on the breakup for the 'betterment' of the relationship' which led to alot of back and forth with no end nor conclusion. Brother got mad and said 'you can shove that ring up your ass and dont think about inviting me to the wedding' and just left. Bf opened up about that, apparantly, bf bought a ring a few months ago and told his family about proposing to op, and thats where the tension started.
So op in a way concluded that this fight between BIL with op and bf was because that bf was gonna propose and marry op but still confused about the gf tho. People asked in the comments about BIL dating history and this was the first time he dated someone since he was 16 (he's 24).
Op bf talked with op about doing a proper proposal, while she keeps her distance from the family for abit in case some bs happen again.

Most people after the 1 or 2 time would have stopped booking for anything, especially very expensive places if they can't remember,
on top of the fact if it did happen more then once most people would be embarrassed by it and pay their in-law/whoever back because it was their mistake.
So you'll cover the restaurant every time for someone who has money? Even if it's pricey? No, then settle down and shut up. Going out is expensive and if you have a leech family member or friend trying to force you to pay simply because they think you have the money to spare, you're going to say something or do something to get them to knock that crap off.
