    I just found you Maria! ! I am a young female senior and bought a new Gretsch Catalina Club a few years ago was really learning and enjoying and then let it sit for awhile after my beloved mom passed away suddenly. I am now on the mend and ready to back to it. You are my new inspiration Maria and I can't wait to get on this journey with you. Thank you for taking the time to do what you do to help drummers learn. You are amazing! I love your method of teaching!

    • @MariaWulfMusic
      @MariaWulfMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it really is. You can take a bossa that is rooted in 4/4 time and take the exact same rhythms and play double (or half note feel) time and it becomes a samba.

    Hi Maria, very cool, I'm almost there :) How do you play the right foot at that speed? Heel up or down?

    • @MariaWulfMusic
      @MariaWulfMusic  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi, for me the volume determines my foot position more than speed. For something like this I do a kind of in-between. I only keep my heel all the way down when I need to play really quiet or am on my jazz kit where the bass drum is wide open and very sensitive. There's a lot of nuance that's difficult to explain. I have it on my list to do a bass drum technique video demonstrating all this. Thanks for watching :-)

    • @MariaWulfMusic
      @MariaWulfMusic  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello, this is my first Sonor kit. I knew I wanted one because of always liking the way they sound. After doing much research I landed on a custom made SQ2 made with Beech wood. I also have a smaller jazz kit that's a Yamaha Maple Custom with an 18" kick. I play that one on my Carl Allen transcription video and the Gordon Goodwin Whodunnit.

    Did i miss the notation for the bass part. Is it 3/4 time? bass hat bass, 123? or is there triplet rest?

    • @MariaWulfMusic
      @MariaWulfMusic  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello. The pattern is in 4/4 time. The HH is on 2 & 4. The bass drum is on beats 1 (x) & 3 (x) & 1, etc. When you add the hands it can sound very syncopated at times.

    • @s4lroachclip
      @s4lroachclip 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MariaWulfMusic Thanks for your answer really appreciate that. So the feel of the triplet on bass is just due to the fast tempo yeah? I subscribed.

  • @raindogred

    I assume you don’t want the accents to be played in the right hand playing the ride?. Thats really hard for me. I’m using an edrum kit and i keep triggering a crash if i play it too hard. I get the same with texas blues shuffle. This could take a while to master.

    • @MariaWulfMusic
      @MariaWulfMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, I'm not sure if I mentioned it or not but actually, yes, the idea would be that both hands are playing the accents. With that being said, it's a great challenge in dynamics independence to try to accent with one limb but not the other.

    Hey, I think you're a great teacher, but I think it should have been in sixteenth notes because it is really on the down and off beat and then in-between the beats

    • @MariaWulfMusic
      @MariaWulfMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steve, if the bass drum down beats were on all quarters then yes, it would be notated as 'upbeat' 16ths but in this case the bass drum downbeats are on counts 1&3 so the 'upbeats' are notated as 8th notes. This also lines up with the rhythmic notations of the rest of the rhythm section too.
