I bought an Ego trimmer based on your recommendation. I used it about 15 times before it stopped working. The motor control module went out. EGO refused to live up to the warranty. They would not replace nor repair my trimmer. Complete failure.

I use the Greenworks commercial 82v trimmer, model 82ST151 with the 4ah battery. It is very good, it lasts 1 hour and 10 minutes and charges in 30 minutes. It only weighs 13 pounds with the battery.

I bought a ego trimmer, used it 3 times, was $170. I didn't buy the line eq version just basic. I like the power, but there are 2 things I don't like. The 2.5ah battery lasts me about 25 minutes and when you put it on charger right after using the weed trimmer, I have to wait about 15 minutes for the battery to cool down before charger will charge. Otherwise i like the ego.

We bought the Ego Professional on your recommendation and are glad we did. No LineIQ or autoloader but we cut and load the line in less than five minutes so we're okay. We use the two large batteries from the four-year old lawnmower and a smaller battery from their blower. They don't charge as fast as we use them up when using the Middle speed. That's not good when we're trimming all day so we have to split up tasks into two-hour segments. The design is excellent and very powerful. The large batteries are quite heavy but by the time we finally found and attached a knapsack strap our bodies had strengthended enough that we didn't need it anymore.
Thank you for the comparisons. You set them up well.

I use a .155" string on an aftermarket head and low gear on the Dewalt attachment capable. It barely wears against brick, concrete, or wire fence. Bludgeons the grass out of the way. Messy, but functional and I can get up close to my agricultural buildings and fence without chewing up line.

I had the ego and had nothing but problems with line feeding. Exchanged it for their top model with Kevlar pole and again same feeding issues. I won’t go back to ego.

I have the single battery M18 myself. I only use for light to medium thick brush/grass but I’ve been absolutely surprised at how well it powers through most anything and being only 18v nominal vs many other brands twice that voltage.

I have the ego line iq with power head and I love it except it will get down to 1-2 inches before it adds more line
I also have sthil fs131 gas and the ego is more powerful.
Biggest downside to the ego is weight,I added the backpack battery holder so that’s no longer an issue.
I now have many ego products edger, push mower, blowers and after owning them for 3+ years now I’ve had zero problems with batteries or equipment.

Echo batteries are trash and they change battery form factors too often.
Both of my batteries are defective now and I’m forced to find something else because they don’t sell the batteries anymore.
58v and only 7 years old.
Batteries were flakey from the start, but I could always push the button on battery to reset the issue and get it going again, until I couldn’t anymore.
