  • In this video, I will explore effective strategies of how to communicate more effectively when you stop saying "um" and "ah." In the world of business, how we speak and what we say matters a lot. Many times, while speaking, we use words like "um," "ah," "like," and "you know." These words are used to fill in the empty space when we are searching for what to say next. Filler words seem small, but they can change how others see us. They can make us look less confident and less prepared.

    You mentioned in one of your videos that you are not an English teacher. But, while people who call themselves teachers tell us not to use perfectly normal phrases like „thank you“ and „you are welcome“, you are teaching us how to avoid filler words and filler sounds. If you are not a teacher, then I don‘t know who is. Thanks a lot for your effort!

      But I do love being a Communication Confidence Coach. It is great fun changing the lives of people because they become more confident.
      Thanks again.

      Thank you for your comment. It is interesting, I have coached people from all over the world and I have found that saying "um" and "ah" exists in all languages. It is even more interesting that I had a client that was a project manager in Brazil and he said "um" more than any client I ever worked with. He was so nice and interesting, but he was very difficult to understand because he said "um" so many times.
      When I helped him to stop saying "um" he was even more interesting, because now I could understand him.

      @BusinessEnglishwithGrant  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm a big believer that we speak for a reason. The reason is to communicate a message. You can guarantee that the other person will be listening if you make your message relate to them and you are focused on trying to have the other person feel something specific when you are sharing your message. Go slow, they'll listen more.
