Stop Saying "Um" and "Ah": Communicate More Effectively

- In this video, I will explore effective strategies of how to communicate more effectively when you stop saying "um" and "ah." In the world of business, how we speak and what we say matters a lot. Many times, while speaking, we use words like "um," "ah," "like," and "you know." These words are used to fill in the empty space when we are searching for what to say next. Filler words seem small, but they can change how others see us. They can make us look less confident and less prepared.

You mentioned in one of your videos that you are not an English teacher. But, while people who call themselves teachers tell us not to use perfectly normal phrases like „thank you“ and „you are welcome“, you are teaching us how to avoid filler words and filler sounds. If you are not a teacher, then I don‘t know who is. Thanks a lot for your effort!
What a beautiful thing to say. Thank you so much.
It is true, I've never been an English teacher.

Teacher Grant this is a amerrican /english habit , we have not in our conversation in portugueses , but we see it among the amaricans , people in Brazil who work in american companies use ah and hum, from now on i will avoid it , boa noite in portugueses good night
Thank you for your comment. It is interesting, I have coached people from all over the world and I have found that saying "um" and "ah" exists in all languages. It is even more interesting that I had a client that was a project manager in Brazil and he said "um" more than any client I ever worked with. He was so nice and interesting, but he was very difficult to understand because he said "um" so many times.
When I helped him to stop saying "um" he was even more interesting, because now I could understand him.
I really like your accent and the way you speak. Do you mind telling me where you are from. thanks in advance.
why I want to know is because I'm trying to iron out my french accent. and practice the shadowing technic.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I am from the Unites States. Good luck with ironing out your French accent! Shadowing is a great technique. I will be posting some very long videos that I hope people like you will use for shadowing and building vocabulary. Keep your accent, I love hearing good accents that also have good English pronunciation.
@@BusinessEnglishwithGrant mai i know what part of the state you're from.
thanks in advance.

Hello Sir, I am your new student here..I am being frustrated now to speak confidently. I've been trying so long to speak fluently but I always have to think what to say next? Not having organised thought whilst speaking. Pls give me a solution or help me to be good at this language.
Hi and welcome to my community.
I see many people trying to speak fluently. But, don't worry about being fluent. Think about communicating a message from you to someone else and be clear with that message. Please watch this video: th-cam.com/video/0l0GeD424Xc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2qT22IZ0GC05qptA
I say these words in my native language... English will not be the exception 😂😂
Yes, we all say these sounds. The biggest question is, does anyone enjoy listening to someone say these sounds?
What do i do when i feel like time is running or that the person would stop listening if i stop or slow down??
I'm a big believer that we speak for a reason. The reason is to communicate a message. You can guarantee that the other person will be listening if you make your message relate to them and you are focused on trying to have the other person feel something specific when you are sharing your message. Go slow, they'll listen more.
BUT I CANT SPEAK ENGLISH SO HOW CAN I RECORD MY VIDEO
I believe that if you can type it, you can speak it. Just try. You will be surprised.
To be truthful English is my fourth language. Idk if there's anything even called fourth language?
Wow! That is SO impressive. I can barely speak one language. Great work. What are your four languages?
❤😊❤😅😂❤😊❤
❤️ 😎 ❤️ 🙌🏼 ❤️ 🙏 ❤️
You should talk about the solution. Right?? Not do marketing in the interests of audience. Create audience-first content. Ok
Thanks, coach.
