I think what made the combo of David and Guy so incredible was that Guy could match David’s power, their ranges were a bit different but they really complimented each other. Michael English never had the power that Guy and David had. His voice was completely different not in a bad way, I just never thought he and David blended as well as David and Guy did on certain songs.

The look on TD Jake's face at 3:21 says it all. He knew he was bearing witness to something special. I finally got to see David in concert a few months ago, and that was the biggest item on my bucket list, and it was such a blessing.
At 3:21, David has a microphone in his left hand, with right, raised in the air. You can see people are in their seats, but no sign of TD Jake, who is a wolf in sheep's clothing. 3:24 is the time meant to be written.

This was the time when David transitioned from being a classical singer to a pop singer. He was overusing his voice in a field (classical) where he didn't liked so much. He even stated "This is not my voice". It overwhelmed him and started having problems with his voice as he always pushes it just to sound classically no matter how high the note is. So he went to the doctor. His doctor gave him 2 options. 1. Continue to sing like this and last for 5 years max, 2. Or change and you can keep your voice for as long as you want. So David changed. AND BECAME better in general (in my opinion). I mean he is over 50 years old now and can still hit D5s. He is truly gifted and a blessing.
Do you have a source for this? It makes no sense that singing in a more traditional way would be more taxing on his voice. In fact, David has stated time and time again that his background in classical training may be the only thing that has helped his voice last as long as it has.
Explains the change in hairstyle😂. I personally preferred his earlier, soulful and more operatic voice but around the time Russ joined the Vocal Band, I noticed this slight change for more of a contemporary styling, even in his own music. Then he changed his hairstyle, changed his wardrobe and his audience got younger. He's still a phenomenal singer though.
