This video came right on time. I've been looking at this destination since 2019. You've helped me to make an informed decision. Excellent video, candid, straight to the point. Answered a lot of questions that I had. Time to pack my bags! ✈🏝🍷🌅
You won’t be able to find a place in Coronado or Boquete for $500, let alone purchase beachfront there for $150K. You’re selling the dream but please tell the realities of the frequent power outages and no hot water in most places outside Panama City. Even though it rains here practically every day, there are water shortages toward the end of the dry season in some places. Do your own research and make sure you visit during dry and rainy seasons.
@teejaip Sorry to disturb your “city only is best” story. I lived in Panama City for a year. Expensive, lots of traffic. If you need shopping malls, rooftop bars, lots of hookers and spend 4x the amount of money each month - the City is your choice! I did live also 11 months in the Las Tablas area, Playa Uverito. Full with Expats who own houses there. Power outages are common in this areas. And I am talking about hours! Without power, no internet, no water - wait! I’m on the ocean. We did what locals did. Going swimming! No internet? Well. Time to talk to real people on the beaches or just go for a long walk along the beach. What really pxxx me off? Expats! Living there in their own house for years and complaining about power outages! Really? One time I mentioned that, if everyone would chip in $500, they could buy a big diesel generator and supply the whole village with power. You know what? Right. I was the bad guy. Their response? “Why would I spend $500 for this guy or that guy or the families who can’t afford a car?” You know. Real Christian behavior…. But every week the same swearing in the streets. “No f-ing power again! Shit Panamanians!” I just had it. Back to civilization after 11 months. Enough from selfish Expats. Even I, who was only renting, would have chipped in $500. Anyway. Coronado area. So you are saying you can’t find a place for $500 rent? I’m sorry. You are just lazy! No offense. You need to live on a budget? Get your sneakers on or just drive around the Coronado area and call people’s phone number where they have a sign on the house “For rent.” It’s that easy. Don’t call real estate agents! They will just show you the expensive places. Why? They get 1 month’s rent as a fee! Just use your head! I’m renting a 2 bedroom house with a big garden for $350 a month in Gorgona. I did help a Panamanian to rent out his 3 bedroom house to an American for $450 a months. Right. It’s not a gated community. No 24/7 security guards. It’s always funny, sitting in a restaurant and Americans asking where I live. When I tell them, they make big eyes: “Is that safe there?” People! If you need 100% Americans as neighbors. Why did you move to Panama? First of all. I live already 2 years in this house. It’s a Panamanian house. No AC. I don’t need AC. Pool? I got a plastic one, 15ft diameter, for my girlfriend to enjoy life. Not one time we got threatened. I respect my neighbors and they respect me. No break in. Nothing stolen. Now to the high beach property prices. It’s the AMERICANS FAULT! They make 14 days vacation, just sold their parents house in Florida or California and got a couple million dollars. Now they throw around their money like they would die next week. On top of that, they leave Panama after 3-5 months because “At home it wasn’t that bad” compared to Panama. Now their house is on the market for years. And I mean years! Why? They got ripped off and think they can ask $80,000 more for what they paid. Sorry Americans. That isn’t working in Panama. You just need to find another American who switched off his brain! There aren’t many stupid people in Panama. Only saying. I know 4 owners who lost between $50,000 and $100,000 to get finally rid of their property after years! Just do your basic research, people. Rent for 1 year and see if you like Panama. After a year, move around. Panama has 105 micro climates. Every area is different. I don’t like to sit in Panama City with every day raining. I hate it. Playa Uverito to dry. Boquete? Little USA? No gracias! I bought myself a lot and build myself a house. And yes. It’s (as the locals say) “on the wrong side of InterAmericana highway”. It’s not a beach property! I choose it because I know the beach areas. On the weekends full of people who don’t care about who lives there! Party from Friday afternoon till Sunday afternoon. YOU CANNOT SLEEP! And from Monday morning on, you can collect the “party people’s” garbage! No gracias. I had that experience already. My place is 5 minutes away from Coronado and its beaches. How much did I pay for my 520m2 lot? $14,000. I’m building a 156m2 house. Construction costs are calculated by $30,000. Now tell people again that you can’t find affordable places in the Coronado area. Btw. A German friend of mine just rented a freshly renovated 2 bedroom apartment for $250 months in Chame. And honestly. Who needs hot water if you live in a country where it is around 30-40 degrees Celsius on 365 days? Even my son, who lives in Germany, and is visiting me every year said: “I need to cool me down. Cold water is just fine.” Only American people need hot water. And on sunny days, go shower at noon when the earth is hot and heating up your water pipes. 😂😂😂
@@guillermogouldburn763 A lot of expats ask the same question and quickly learn, cold showers are no fun, especially when washing your hair. It’s also nice to have hot water to wash dishes and easier to cut grease when cleaning and disinfecting around the house. Lugging pots of boiled water from the kitchen gets old and is becoming a thing of the past. And contrary to the perception, hot weather outside does not heat the water coming through the tap.

I was in Panama 🇵🇦 Panama City for Christmas it was awesome. I’d didn’t seem like a 3rd world country. Very modern and safe
Es gringo, pero carísimo.

I agree it’s important to do your own research and visit at different times of year.

Why would you need hot water in hot weather?
