4: Farewell, My TurnaboutGlobal Studios is in trouble yet again as a
famous actor is charge with the murder of his rival, an action star. To
make matters worse, Maya is kidnapped by a mysterious assassin and his
price... complete acquittal of a certain individual. Phoenix has more

most dramatic cases.End of Episode 4: Farewell, My Turnabout - เกม
Here's something that I don't hear many people talk about that I found sad: shortly before this, at the party at the Gatewater, the "Gumshoe Tracker" went off. It starts going off when Gumshoe gets within a close distance of the remote... except Gumshoe has already been there. The characters are surprised, but decide not to think about it - treating it as a "mystery" instead. This ending shows that it's because the tracker was on Gumshoe's trenchcoat... which was still in Franziska's possession.
So, when we assess the facts...
1) The remote starts beeping when Gumshoe's coat gets close to it.
2) The remote was with the main crew at the party at the Gatewater.
3) Franziska was in possession of Gumshoe's coat.
...We reach the following conclusion:
Franziska traveled to and was temporarily present at the party at the Gatewater... but didn't actually show herself.
I sat through the ending fairly stoically. I was touched, but managed to keep a good hold on my emotions. When this clicked, however, I really did have to work to hold back some tears. That's just so desperately sad and lonely, you know? She saw everybody there, happy... but she felt like she didn't belong, or that her pride shouldn't let her.
Pre-Character Development, Franziska is really one of the sadder characters in the series.
Oh my god. I never thought of this. Bless her, she really did care after all!
Edgeworth understood she was close to them that's why he suddenly left, to search for her
Poodonkis14 nah, she just wants to check up on whatever is up. Especially with wright getting to her first.
Back Up ! I like Franzi!!! Don’t go hating on her just cause she’s from Germany 🇩🇪! Don’t even be racists on her!
Lellyma Pomms Cymbillnos Of course she cares!
This moment is when we we're reminded that Franziska is just 18 the same age as Maya. And I doubt Von Karma would let her act as childish as Maya making you wonder if she ever had a childhood at all. Miles luckily had 9 years with Gregory but Franziska? Good God.
And to think she became a prosecutor in her 13? How top-notch she can be?
I wonder how different she'd be under a different parent.. just how much of her personality is merely due to being her father's daughter?
@@fyra_cat2119 probably all of it, if not most.
@@fyra_cat2119 It's not JUST Von Karma too. The very first thing she said to Phoenix is that "He seems to be surprised that she is a woman", she's also one of the few female characters who actually call out pervert on their disgusting actions. This might suggest that she was essentially looked down upon because of her age AND her sex. And to top it all off almost every time she introduced she's refered not as standalone person but as a child of Manfred von Karma.
So after all, under her sturdy appearance. She had a heart.
My god, this game was great and this tops it off.

I remember when I first saw her cry I was shocked! She's not the type to open up so willing, she always tries to act strong and like she doesn't care. But she opened up to miles. It shows how much they care about each other
+EpicGravity908 i know!!!!
Probably one of the most complex and interesting characters. I love how they brought her up to be this arrogant entitled prosecutor and slowly formed her into this, taking into account the fact she is still very young and how she lost her father and had all this stress on her shoulders to be the very best. It all got to her.
Yeah, its easy to forget shes the same age as Maya, but Manfred would NEVER let her act nearly as childish as she does, makes you wonder if she was cheated out of a childhood entirely
@@fyra_cat2119 Definitely. In AAI2 she is shown to be working as a prosecutor at 13 years old.
@@randomcoloradan2878 I knew that as that's also stated in JFA, I speciically mean 12 and under
Franziska: “No, I’m not a prosecutor, not anymore, I even threw my WHIP away” Edgeworth standing there awkwardly with the lifesize stuffed bear I gave him: “ᵂʳᶦᵍʰᵗ ʷʰʸ ᵃʳᵉ ʸᵒᵘ ˡᶦᵏᵉ ᵗʰᶦˢ”
i did that too and i couldnt live like that so I had to reply the entire end of the trial, the credits, AND seeing Franziska cry again because I could not live like that
HAHAHAHA
I wonder the amount of people like us gave him the bear
Lmfaooo I also gave him that giant stuffed bear
Was replaying JFA on PC, forgot about this part and gave him the ATTORNEY BADGE of all things
I think Franziska is a very misunderstood character. People tend to hate her way too easily. Edgeworth wasn't really a good guy until Justice for All either.
But he was likable by the end of Case 1-3, and even if you didn't like him by then, case 1-4 was CREATED to make you like him.
Unshaved Stuff
It's true. Personally I never disliked Edgy even when he was still being unfair lol
I actually prefer the subtle approach they took with Franziska who was never put in a special case to prove that she is actually a good person like Edgeworth. I thought case 1 - 4 in Ace Attorney was a little too much "in your face, like him already!".
Josh Gooch
Yes indeed. Her use of the whip is really fun and doesn't get tiresome.
And in Trials and Tribulations she almost uses it as a friendly greeting (on Gumshoe at least lol)
Yourson Isold ...Right, "doesn't get tiresome" at all...
Unshaved Stuff
Not for me. I laugh every time. At least it's not making me wait everytime like a certain coffee smelling and drinking animation (Jokes, I love Godot).
That crying sprite has so many emotions... you can see how she is really REALLY trying to hold back her tears, how she has trained herself to control her emotions in public, but this just broke her.
Yeh, it’s sad
Seeing this softer side of Franziska really makes me wanna give her a big ol' hug.
@@flakeguy4397 probably Edgey gave her one
That was Miles Edgeworth's way of saying I love you as a sibling student (or just sister). This is probably the only real love and connection Franziska von Karma has had, and probably brought her back to an early childhood where Manfred von Karma wasn't so hell-bent on perfection.
Must say, playing this originally, the crying caught me off guard. It still does even revisiting the scene.
Grimm Jones Considering that she was only 2 years old when the DL-6 Incident occurred, I don’t think there was ever a point in her childhood where Manfred Von Karma wasn’t hell-bent in perfection
Pademelon he was probably just different enough around her that she never saw her father that way. And the non-perfectionist mask would slip from time to time.
@@Drakon_Minaka In the flashback case of the first Investigations spin-off (“Turnabout Reminiscence”), Manfred appears to show enough respect/affection toward Franziska to let her bargain for small favors from him, but not much else as far as we can see. On the one hand, when Manfred is about to call off Miles’ investigation and declare the case closed (even calling Miles worthless to his face in front of Franziska), it is Franziska who persuades him to let them continue. But on the flip side, when she asks Manfred earlier in the case if he would watch her debut trial next, Manfred simply responds with “I’ll consider it”, which is a very strange response coming from a proud prosecutor whose young daughter is so eagerly following in his footsteps.
The way she cry... it is so disheartening... it makes me want to comfort her.
+Jet Hammer Dedede I thought the same thing. In a way, I kind of feel bad for her. She's under so much pressure and she's still so young!
1nterruption As you should
I wouldn’t bother
It’s not my life
She's still a little girl deep down
Vulcan Fist so edgy that even the audience can’t help but think you’re so cool for not bothering.
It's a pity they forgot about the Nick Card. It would have been super fitting if she gave it to him in the last case of the next game when he's worried about Maya.
Oh my gosh! That would be amazing!
That was exactly what I was thinking. I thought Franziska was going to give to him but nah.....probably not going to happen in AA6 either

+SuperClonge M It's very unlikely given the massive time skip between then and the current canon. Though I still hope Franziska shows up in the newest game. I'd love to play a case where Phoenix faces off against her in Germany when recruiting Athena.
Too many people underestimate these games. Not everyone finds the gameplay exhilarating and many hate having to read (although i love the gameplay and like reading) . But the critical mistake everyone makes is ignoring the amazing story it tells and the emotion invoking character development. I honestly believe these are the most beautifully told stories I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
The ending......when I saw Maya's picture......
T.T
*feels are everywhere*
that was a crucial piece of evidence , he should have gotten it and presented it to the adrian . CASE CLOSED XD
Ooh, I wondered why the card had a drawing on it
Adrian Andrews was suffering from co-dependency and so was Franziska, she looked up to her father and even Edgeworth, but when her father was convicted and Edgeworth disappeared then she felt that there was no one she could prove herself to, but herself that she was just like them so she tried to do everything she could to be like her father "perfect in every way" and to surpass edgeworth the only way that was left for her, by beating Phoenix Wright
My god Franziska Von Karma is crying-
Come to think of it, have we ever seen Miles cry?
I don't think so.......huh.

I freaking loved her through this hole game. She's such an awesome character, along with Adrian and Pearls she was one of the best characters introduced in this game. I might even like her more than Edgeworth. Yes, said it.
+Dayane Rodrigues (Neon Nyan) You like her more than Miles? Watch what you say, the Edgeworth fans will come after you. Hahaha.
Kannakomi XD. Maya's my favorite character. Miles is my second favorite. Franzsiska is my third favorite.
Kannakomi Ye
Edgeworth fan here - completely valid o7 Fransizka’s an amazing character and I love her a lot, and I hope that people get to see what she’s about because she’s really cool
For me, my list of favorite promoters is like they get better with every game
1 - Godot
2 - Franziska
3 - Miles
Did anyone else want to hug her after she started crying?
Yes
+++
I genuinely wanted to phase through the screen and give her a hug when I saw her cry at the end... The pressure of having the von Karma name, The loss of her father and losing to Phoenix Wright twice in a row... it all got to her in the end... and I actually kinda laughed when that whip of her’s lashed out at Phoenix. It was all quite amusing... And some part of me wishes she would return in a future instalment of the series. (maybe one day... we never know..)
After all the times she was arrogant and seemed like she wasn’t even human, this entire scene changes that, especially when she started crying. idk why but it was really emotional
Franziska is a prodigy and Manfred von Karma's daughter, but she's also an 18 year old just wanting to seek validation.
I think the point is that, precisely, she is not a prodigy, she is not a genius, she is someone who spent her entire life studying, and living up to her father's and the world's expectations of her, and, even studying so hard to be a prosecutor, she knows that she is far from being like her father, and she has not even surpassed her brother, and she is far from that. Manfred, his mere presence made him the one giving the orders in court, and controlling the entire case, but Franziska, her voice doesn't do that, she always tries to do the same with the whip, but even so, she doesn't have the same effect. And, having lived her entire life as the expectations of others, she doesn't believe she can live anything else.
An amazing end to, arguably, one of the best cases in the entire Ace Attorney series.
And that card never made it back so the miracle never happen. But in all seriousness I would really like it if in the next Ace Attorney game after Dual Destinies she comes back and she hands him the card and the rivalry starts again.
They should have given us a DLC case where Phoenix recruits Athena and does battle with Franziska on her home turf. Just imagine it, a German judge!
floooooooooooooooood Fuck Athena

@@TimeTravelingAltair1337 why :(
I do feel kind of sorry for her. She acts all tough on the outside but when the sad music started playing and then she started crying I just thought "Wow, this person has real emotions and isn't just your stereotypical ass hole character". I always thought the character was a mean bitch but this scene totally changed my perceptions of Ms. Von Karma.
Like Edgeworth, she may have seemed to be the main villain of this particular chapter at first but ended up being someone just in desperate need of a hug
Franziska: _Bursts out crying._
Me: I wanna comfort and marry this woman.
Same
Adrian could do that
@@falconeshield Sure can
I like this comment. Very honest and straight forward
Same, that's why I made that joke responding to "Adrian could do that" and now part of me ships her with THE actual Alucard
I've been crying the last three days over this damn ending, it hit me hard. Not only the music, but the ending in itself made me burst into tears and i cant stop crying fuck
So it was never truly about beating pheonix for revenge for her father. It was all about surpassing Edgeworth.
Just another reason why I love ace attorney games. Their plots and stories are so deep.

Even after all of her tough battles, it's easy to forget that she's still a young adult with a big heart, and that's why I think she deserves some love

@@flakeguy4397 Glad you agree.
3:22 oh my god, Franziska actually cries! Dammit, poor Franziska!
;-;
For those who don’t know, the “Nick” card is Maya showing love to nick
I personally think that the fourth piece is kept because Phoenix was so confused and determined without Maya yet she never lost hope because she knew he would find er. The drawing was kept in case anything like that were to happen again, Phoenix would just know that someone would always believe in him, that someone being his best friend, Maya Fey.
Suddenly, I feel like a hick for hating her......
jatoatley Same
I don't. I was all like "Oh, come on! You're making this weird!". Like, nothing in the world is gonna make me stop hating her.
It still hate her, having emotions is the bare minimum requirement for being human.
thats really sad...being expect to do big things expectations you must fulfill as a Von Karma perfection in every way no one can be perfect she took her teachings from her dad a lot but recent goings have proven to her that even she can't fallow her honor she depended on her dad and was angry at Miles for leaving her and breaking the Honor...all the while of trying to beat Phoenix was trying to get at Miles I'm not sure if she will whip me if i do this or not but i wish to give her a hug...she is one of my favorite female game characters and soon favorite female anime characters (GO TO CRUNCHYROLL)
Now we can confirm Nick is a masochist.
Franziska really annoyed me at the beginning, since not only her whip make the trials feel so long because of the animations, and she whipped so often. But also almost every whip triggers the chatbox, and me being a desperate fool, really valued the chatbox, since clues are mostly there.
But come to think of it, i think thanks to her action, i got used to the last chapter's trial, where it took stupid long until it ends, even it had least distraction (since its edgeworth who be the prosecutor)
And her attitude really made me forgot the burden of being a "von karma" is rough for a 18s like her. And now i feel really bad for her.
von Karma becoming a prosecutor at 13 and saying she's "no genius"
This time, the miracle happen
Because a miracle... is something that _does_ exist.
*"Yes, for you see Phoenix, IT WAS I who..."*
Oh, that's quite sweet actually...
*"NEVER MIND, PHOENIX, I RETRACT MY PREVIOUS STATEMENT."*
> when you visit your sister

Some say that guy in the background is still standing on that same spot to this day.
Well the people in hotti clinic also just stay there forever and director hotti even points out how all the people who are there are still there to this very day.
Seeing her act like a crybaby all of a sudden made me wanna cry too
That card was very important in the end.
3:22 this was one of the few if not only breakdowns not in the courtroom
Kinda reminds me of Nebula and Gamora
Gamora (Miles) always strived to be the best while Nebula (Franziska) just wanted a sister (in Franziska's case, a brother)

Am i the only who think she did’nt give the card in trials and tribulations ?
I love how they gave her a lot more nuance than just petty ruthless lady with a whipe (of course this already made her character fun, but its nice to see that she has more depth)
Could you imagine if that picture was presented in court... idk why but the confusion in the court would’ve been priceless to me
"Wright gave me this to hold onto."
And now I have this picture in my head where Edgeworth uses the whip in every case like Franziska did.
Oh God, it still tugs at my heartstrings to see Franziska teary-eyed...to see even HER get saddened. Damn it! Where's a tissue when you need it?! :(
Why is this mix of the Credits background music not available as its own song on the soundtrack? I love it. But I can't just put a save up on this spot and pull it up to listen to anytime. x.x
This moment would really make anyone who hated Franziska up to this point stop hating her and find her cute. Actually to think a bit more, she is lonely inside her heart too, and she genuinely cares about others (you can see it in sequel too as she helps Maya even though she kind of bullied Maya before) even though she might be worse at expressing it than Miles. Really a shame that she (as well as a lot of characters like Dick or channeled Mia) didn't return in the new trilogy

Shu Takumi, series creator/writer/director, actually wrote a few short stories/columns for a Japanese magazine that detailed the everyday lives of Ace Attorney characters. One of them was Franziska coming to the Wright and Co. office at Christmas and giving Phoenix a certain card. But Maya grabs it before he sees it. Seeing as how he wrote it himself, I'd say it's canon and she did.

Franziska Von Karma was mad at case 3 if im correct and now at the end shes crying? and now she has the 3rd evidence. Hm..
A picture of Nick. I had a suspicion that was the 4th piece.
They really should have had a scene where Franziska gave Phenoix the Nick card. He had plenty to be disheartened about the next time they see each other. It could have worked very well. I'm disappointed they never brought the matter up again. I guess in universe despite what she says here, Franziska must have lost it somewhere or forgot about it.
Well, looks a like sibling's talk. Since they were raised together.
