Becareful people. When you buy the fixd device. What they don't tell you is that they automatically enroll you in the premium which is 69.99 a month. They talking about you got to opt out. Wow. I told them I never sign up for it in the frist place. So I got the BBB involved. And they put the money back on the card

Have used FIXED here in the UK for over a year and it saved me thousands when I had an ABS module failure, in the end, cost less than $80 to fix and i did it myself. David UK.

My mother had me install her FIX device so I have had experience with it and it worked to show what the codes were. However, I absolutly HATE their advertisements. Their advertisements are completely misleading because they make all mechanics look bad and they make customers believe that the code will tell them exactly what needs to be fixed and how much it will cost and that is almost never the case. Just because a sensor is throwing a code does not mean that the sensor is bad. Just watch south main auto repair or any other diagnostic channel. Why would you need to do diagnostics if the code told you everything? A good example is O2 sensor codes. The real problem could be the other sensor or the injectors or a leaky exhaust.
Knowing a code is not diagnostics. For those reasons, I can't stand FIXD.

As a motor moron, I can only tell you in defense of FIXD that it's good for simple maintenance and less so for big stuff. I think. But, in addition to FIXD, I think everyone needs a great mechanic that they can trust. Emphasis on trust. I've been taken a few times because I drive nice cars and try to take care of them. Which makes me easy prey. Sure, in a perfect world, everything gets changed every time you pop the hood. But is it really necessary? Cabin air filters? Every time? At markup? Come on. I'm afraid a bunch of bad apples have spoiled the public.
I'm an insurance professional. I see exactly the same thing with auto insurance apps. You have no idea how much coverage you're sacrificing to pay the lowest premium, but you will when you need it. When it's too late. Cutting out the middle man is ironic in American industry since we spent the last 40 years making middle men.
@@codacreator6162 Fixd is good for when you need to know what codes you have. Just like any OBD2 scan tool. That's all. After that you take the clues and figure out the problem, hopefully with some serious sensor testing. As a novice, you might get lucky. However, Check out "south main auto channel" and "scanner danner" to find out how real diagnosis works.
And when I say novice I mean all novices out there and not necessarily you coda. I know I replied to your message but it's for everyone.

I use the BlueDriver Bluetooth it comes in handy especially when you out on the road it also like the one he has it also allows updates for newer vehicles
My experience with FIXd was not good. I had an engine light on my van and repaired the problem. The FIXD app would not turn the engine light out. Communicated with the tech support and they wanted a screen shot of my dashboard. I finally used my other scanner to turn off the light- problem solved. Thankfully I didn't sign up for the premium service. 19.99 was enough to waste on this device.

@@jimmysapien9961 It won't tell you how to fix your car until you pay another $70. It told me to have my 2016 F150 towed to a shop. I installed a bad $19 temp sensor just to see what it would say.
Doesn’t turn light off for you, shows you error code to avoid getting ripped off

What was the obd tool used in your 7.3 service truck where you replaced the ipr?

Your definetly a great salesman! But it is pretty awesome. I dont have the premium membership only the device and it has helped me figure out why my check engine light came on then could clear it as well. It's also wicked cheap for what it does!! I would like to work for the company and promote this item!
I wish he would of put it in a car with a real problem and real check engine light on. That would of made the video 1000% better. I would think that's how you review a product, by using it on a real life issue.
I have friends that have one there junk if your a machinic. I understand for the people that don't no anything about vehicles it might help you but it's not professional enough for me.but u get it

Hey Stephen, I have had my FIXD for about 6 months now. I have only used it once. Well my ABS and the little car with zig zag lines lights came on. I put in my FIXD device in and it tells me no errors. Should it tell me what's wrong? Does it work for this problem? Also can I leave this plugged in all the time?

I have this fixd gizmo. It won't sync with any phone or tablet. I called tech support and they want money. They want me to purchase the premium. Why would I do that if the gizmo won't even sync to any device to start with? I figure if I'm gonna buy another one, it'll have to be demonstrated to me to make sure it works.
Might as well just buy a handheld computer AutoZone sells them or Amazon you don’t have to pay no premiums again everybody wants their hand washed I just go to the bathroom !!
FYI if you agree to getting the premium they say its $5 a month and then they charge 70$ the second your free trial ends
Unfortunately this scanner does not list by O2 or A/F sensors properly so I don't know which data is for which.
Question: do you know why the BLS is showing a decline for automotive techs? they're showing an increase for diesel, but like a 4% decline now for auto techs.

2006 Xterra. Over 137,000m. So, check engine light goes on. Fixd unit states no issues found. TWO different mechanic shops state I need a new catalytic converter. So who do I believe?
I have bought a couple cheap versions out there neither of them worked with my 2000 7.3 L diesel. Would like to know if this one works with Diesel engines. Amend is another top rated one, but they have not put in the diesel capabilities yet.
I think it only works on diesels 2004 and up man atleast thats what ive heard. And on regular cars i belive 2001 or 2002 and up.

What would I love to go with one of these - a diesel + gasoline variant - also - The detailed repair manual "SHOP REPAIR MANUALS" (there's a difference!) of every vehicle type make and model! - One thing that would be nice - a BLUETOOTH APP that works with any version of ANDROID - And if it can do Bluetooth - THERE IS NO REASON TO NOT BE ABLE TO SEND THE DATA TO THE BLUETOOTH TO DO #GRAPHS !!!! These tools are useless if they do not have a #Graph capability.

When someone fights with you because the app said blah blah blah, and you try to explain that it only indicates a problem, but doesn't tell you *WHAT CAUSED IT.* Does it GRAPH anything?

My check engine light has been on in my car since I bought it, if you don't hear any clicking or banging or grinding just drive it tell the wheels fall off lol unless you have an expensive car then that check engine light probably means something

I don't think it really is because any scan tool can tell you what codes are active. Nothing replaces a good mechanic in a shop. That being said I think everyone should carry a cheap code reader in their car. Eventually, the car will also be the code reader and just tell you. That way you can call someone and get an idea whether or not the code is serious.

You know you go in there welcoming even hoping they try to pull the wool over your eyes. That adrenaline rush you get, it's a natural legal way to get high. I'm sure mechanics don't discriminate when it comes to taking advantage. I have no doubt women are targeted more and it's too bad there's not more woman like you out there that could shove back.

You might be a very competent, automotive mechanic. And it sounds like you are. At face value. With a nice smiling delivery. However.
If you tune a car as well, as you do your audio for this video? I shan't be coming to you. And the reason for that is? Your audio is all over the place, high, low, high, low, wide, narrow, wide, narrow. And that's like loud and soft and loud and soft and narrow ambience and wide ambience and narrow ambience and wide ambience. So what gives? Is it your magneto does your points or your capacitors?
You know your audio software has something equivalent to a timing light. It's called Normalize. And you should normalize each clip individually. Before you stick it in your timeline. Otherwise you will be firing on all cylinders. If you follow? Or lead I don't care.
My brother got me the device as a present. I've used it on my 2003 Ford E-150 van and Honda 2007 CRV. And it tells you what's wrong if anything is wrong. It lets you reset your check engine light/lights.
It's certainly not like those professional units. But then I am not a mechanic I'm an engineer dealing with electronic circuitry most. Not much of mechanicals. Enough to get by.
And so if you can get this for $20 US? That's a worthy purchase. For a couple of hundred to a couple of thousand? Only for the seriously, Professional or, OCD DIY. To throw a couple of hundred up to a couple of thousand at a scanner. Not for me thank you. I'm living on Social Security retirement benefits alone. And I've been ripped off enough in my lifetime. Where this device can, give one a heads up. On what your vehicles situation might be? Simply and inexpensively. Only primary vitals, need be checked. And this will do that.
So I give it a thumbs up. It's simply an additional diagnostic tool. Connected with your phone. A small enough gizmo to have always in your car.
The question is are there better ones? Of course there are. Most of us don't need better ones. Lots of folks don't even possess an electric toothbrush. They still do it the old-fashioned way. Why?
I give the, FIXD. A 9, out of, 10. It's a great bang for the buck.
