I'm amazed at how calm the instructor was. Usually these racing drivers give constant advice because they are bad passengers. Goes to show how capable Ben is on the track. Very smooth driving, that's for sure.

I did watch a video some time ago of a popular tuning company boosting a gtr to 700hp and various other bits (cant remember the details). Then it was track timed against a nismo and lost by quite a margin. The driver say they felt the power on the straights but it couldn't take the corners like the nismo. I guess a standard one can be tuned passed the nismo if you knew what suspension etc to get.
I believe that the focus should be on the handling. there are several suspension options that will make a std GT-R very near a NISMO. I will likely try that next year
Good review , I’m on my second GT-R, absolutely love them, if I could afford the nismo I would buy it, very rare care and they hold their value well, could be a future classic because of the limited numbers

2017 and 2013 are the best years you can buy for the GTR. I would personally go with the 2017. It's might be the softest of them all but it's the most refined. Plus it looks better
I would take the 2015 Nismo over every model they looked the the best and was also the platform for the N- Attack package that set Nurburgring record ect.. they are like 90-100k used in the states I would love the see the 2015 Nismo go against the 2017.
I don’t think the Nismo is over priced. I just think that because the normal GTR has such a good value for money, it makes the Nismo look over priced. Either way, I’d take a Porsche 911.
I liked the video but perhaps I missed the verdict. Ben said he really liked the Nismo but that doesn't necessarily qualify it as being worth the price difference. What would the cost be to upgrade the GTR to the same specs as the Nismo?

Hé Shmee, or Tim if you prefer. I have a question. You look very confident behind the wheel when driving on a circuit (track), referring to your video with the MC12. And in this video with Ben and the GTR, Ben looks confident too. So I wondered if you and Ben had a circuit (track) training?
For 60 grand you could easily build a “base model” GTR into a beast of a street car or buy the R35 and a R34 GTR as well. I’m a Nissan fanboy and really the new Nismo is only worth it if you REALLY want it and are taking it on track a lot
I have to say, I prefer 'hands-on' videos rather than this sort of almost 'advertorial', I feel like they give truer accounts to a cars feel than these promoted events. I'd much rather see a great channel like this used as a conduit for independent (and much more interesting) opinion. I understand that people will still enjoy seeing the metal, and to some extent I do too, but constructive criticism is where it's at, for me at least.
Interesting comment, isn't this about as hands-on as it gets taking two cars around an F1 circuit? It's not an advertorial per say, there's no payment to say or do anything in particular beyond have a drive and explain the cars.
Thanks for your reply Tim - hopefully it doesn't sound churlish to complain about what is still, of course, great content that must take many hours to create. I just always get the impression that junkets might have an unspoken agreement that criticism (or comparison to other marques) is not welcome or expected if you wish to attend future events. And I *really* like hearing about a cars weak points as much as its features :-) Is my cynicism justified?!

Like the Scat Pack with Dodge versus the 392. $15K more for SRT badging. There is nothing different between the Scat and 392 except the badging.
The nismo is only worth it if you're keeping it stock or doing light modification. Yes the car is stronger, has better suspension, and blah blah blah but that only matters when you dont know what youre doing

A drag race, roll race from 40 and a braking test between the 2 for the viewers would have really shown an improvement between them.

Small note: GTR's do NOT use R-compound tires like most (ultra) sports cars. These are tires made for all types of weather, short of snow and ice.

Ben does some professional racing, and I did a few races, track days and I got my racing licence last year.
Nissan should make a hypercar variant of the 2018 R36 GTR. What do you think, Shmee?
