You are brilliant at what you do. I can't fault you. Obviously, Fx hasn't gotten the gun right if the barrel has to be changed on a brand new gun. I think they are trying to flood the market with too many models. I'd love a dream line classic 177 ,but I don't want to buy a new one and certainly, if it's not accurate. Keep the good work up I love watching your videos and find them very informative and interesting 👍
Learn so much from your videos I couldn't do the machining but understand so much more about how alterations change the shots. Both formats are fine by me.
Both video formats are fine - mix and match and it won't be a problem :-) Good to see the improvement both with the valve tightened and the new barrel. Coming along nicely :-) Thanks for sharing.
Great video on the DRS. Its about time FX ditched the liner system and went solid barrel on all new guns. To me it seems the liner system holds their guns back so much with accuracy. Thanks for posting this video .....
the way the pellets are grouping from one aiming point to the next are pretty consistent, if it were me with my gun i would check my parallax on my scope. Great content.
new editing is actually better. the tooling choice and description is interesting for everyone, old or new. 50yard groups should become an accuracy standard 👍👍👍 DRS shorty !! 😄
I have a suggestion for that FX liner.. If you lathed out a muzzle end, and a breach end enough to make oring seals. Then brazed or silver soldiered the liner to these new ends, you would increase your shot count...and maybe directly support the liner with air pressure. Next video?????
now that’s an improvement for sure . loose stuff on fx guns is not uncommon from what i have seen , really need to improve there QC department. still even when you tightened up that barrel it definitely made an improvement to the accuracy of the gun i would say 👍 but the hft barrel was the icing on the cake . particularly as this is a light gun so not the best for a bench test air rifle . but still put a good stamp in 👌
Off topic and a bit random but….I think you should start making some spring air rifle pistons with Delrin band on each end especially out of titanium for the hw99s and others, they would sell out quickly as your skill level and lathe work is amazing, lots of people would be interested in them.
An interesting video, looks like the effort put in to changing the barrel paid off. I have four FX air rifles of different calibres, the larger calibres have performed better with the original magazines but my .177 was awful, I ended up getting a couple of Carm magazines, these were much more consistent but I don't know why.
Holy shit bro. I just can’t get over how freaking handy you are. I’ve been trying to figure out how to put my Drs back together for 2 damn days, you would have had it knocked out in 10 minutes LOL!!! Cheers from Oregon 🍻👍
Proves FX system is inferior to a solid barrel, unfortunately the majority of people don’t have access to your machinery. Nice job. You need to find a machine shop to knock these out commercially
Certainly made some improvement to the accuracy. Shame you can't get that performance out of the original barrel though. New video format is fine for me, although there was nothing wrong with the old version, which ever style you find the easiest or best to produce.
Your air rifle modifications and machining talents never cease to amaze! Can you please tell me what is the exact carbide tool and tool holder you’ve been using in the recent videos?? The precision and finish produced are exceptional! Thanks.
Another excellent vid Jeff...Wish I had that tooling at my disposal!😁 Question here...I have a cheapo that Ive done some tuning on and ended up with a great gun. Super consistent fps and several brands of pellet and HN slugs 10 13 and 16g shooting accurately and all in mid 11s. The one thing I notice is an oft change in POI on targets 50mm apart. I think Ive sussed some of it being down to a sensitive hold which you wouldnt expect so much on a PCP but doesnt totally explain it. I have noticed it occasionally on some of your targets but they are at 50m...mine are at a lesser 25 and 33! Any ideas? Cheers👍
@@sub12airgunners yes and I suppose we probably make up 5% of the sales so no point in catering just for us, I also reckon they must save a good £80 a barrel on using their liners as opposed to buying blanks from lothar Walther.
Hi , When you drilled the port in the barrel did you drill to the air arms port size or the FX size, I believe the FX port to be slightly larger in diameter.
Great work as always, like the new style vid but the previous one was spot on as well. Just curious, why is the transfer port part of both barrels brass and not steel?
Hi, Do you know if they use a different block on the larger calibres, the back diameter of the transfer port is a little slim if you need to have a larger bore liner running through it.
Good morning, are you curious about a 769 euro Air Venturi Avenge Classic X? Regards It is considered a good quality-price option, it would be nice to see how it performs, please.
A very interesting video and I will be machining up a solid barrel for my DRS in the coming weeks. Cannot see this in the video. Did you machine the internal groove for the breech seal in the brass transfer port. Or was there a gap left between the barrel end and the sleeve to take the breech seal.
Hi, if you use the standard fx brass TP off a standard liner sys it has the O ring groove in already so you just machine a thread on the end of the barrel and screw it on saves a lot of work, you can do them either way it just means you will need to cut the Oring groove and drill the TP hole if your not using the FX part
@@sub12airgunners Just catching up on comments. Than you for the info. Yes I agree with saving a lot of work. Grooving a barrel is a lot of close up and internal work..
that looks like less accuracy to a diana stormrider. if u put a carbon sleave to tension the diana barrel its even more accurate than this fx, the diana outlaw is more accurate than this from factory and those are made by SPA in china. ive seen soo many grouping videos and it seems like price doesnt justify the performace for the higher end guns, they all seem to be not as accurate as id expect for the price, am i wrong for thinking this?? the grouping of the drs on ur vid and other vids i saw seem to be on par with somthing like a umarex notos
just shows FX barrel liners are just not up to scratch. Selling customers a lower end FX with a smooth twist but good news ! you can buy a stx barrel for hundreds pounds extra and still not compete with AIR arms. When it comes to sub 12, FX are scam artists.
Nice work as an engineer myself its great seeing people trying to make things better.👍
thank you
I love the trigger cam. It was so fascinating watching you use it down the range and not even having to look down the scope. Lovely stuff gents 😁

What you FX boys need is the BSA hammer forged barrel fitted to all their guns.
Yes but BSA stopped selling them so it isn't an option for everyone.
funny you should say that i have one ready for the M4 when it turns up 😁 unless they have finely got the liner sys to work in sub 12 😂
check Bagnall & Kirkwood they stock them again now 👍

I bet the .22 strike was from another FX owner mad about fact that they have a rubbish liner in their gun instead of a proper barrel. haha
🤣🤣 it made me laugh i put my targets out of the way and someone still shoots them😁

Ha you beat me on this one. Have an Alfa .22 blank for an conversion like you did. And again an very nice job btw as used from you.

A lot of the time POI shift is down to parallax error or cant 😀

Wow much better why can't fx do it?? Great job 👍
i think the liner sys must be much better in HP so they are not so worried about the sub 12 people
It’s a shame fx don’t offer a rifled barrelled option instead of their liners.
that would make sense but i think they work a lot better in FAC

Hi ,

we drilled it the same size as the fx port, but we did go a little larger when we shortened the barrel😁

Just curious, why is the transfer port part of both barrels brass and not steel?
thanks Dave, ease of machining really brass is easy to work but we have done them in steel before so it can be done👍
Also, Aluminium and steel react so common to use brass between alu block and steel barrels.
Hi,
Do you know if they use a different block on the larger calibres, the back diameter of the transfer port is a little slim if you need to have a larger bore liner running through it.

it a Delta stryker we have to for the trigger cam 😀
