I bought the WS-MCR and have been happy with it. I think Canadian gun owners absolutely need to buy Canadian made firearms. It's a whole lot easier to close the border than to shut down a company and fire its employees. If we don't support Canadian made guns, we will lose all of our guns.

It’s amazing to see these Canadian companies working hard to develop and produce firearms where the gaping hole from our somewhat recent government regulations.
I recently picked up the WK K9 and it is a fine 9mm carbine well worth the money. Perhaps there is a little light at the end of one of these tunnels.

I have the GEN2 and I put around 1400 rounds through it before breaking the gas piston rod. Only break I had with this rifle. No issues with anything else. Kodiak Defence was incredibly quick to send me two spares at no charge. I hadn’t cleaned the gas piston rod for at least 1000 rounds so not sure if I was at fault or if that was the known flaw. I am getting the TNA upper upgrade today actually so that should take care of the piston rod issue I hope.
Over all, for my first semi-auto 556 rifle I am still pleased with it.

I’m not sure about other provinces, Quebec requires larger than .240 however Ontario regulations state “Center fire rifle) that’s it.
I don’t think it’s the best option of cartridge to secure an ethical kill however, I did shoot a 4 point with 75 grain .223 Hornady Black and it went 25 yards max. I hunt in very closed areas with a couple of openings near the stand that are max 80 metres, it was very effective given that scenario.
I have some American buddies that hunt deer with .223 all the time in OK and TX not sure if their deer get as big as some of ours.
I also shot a monster of a 10 pt last fall with 7.62x39 similar setup for shot and it went 15 feet and dropped.

I have the gen 1&2 Kodiaks, the BCL SRV Siberian and just got the Lockhart Raven 556. The Siberian is definitely far better quality than the Kodiak 180's and the Raven. The price is an extra $200 to get a Siberian from the Kodiak and worth it! When I got my gen 2 Kodiak I paid $1400 and paid $1700 for the BCL. You get a far superior product with the BCL! It's probably my favorite to shoot and I've never had any issues with magazines or feed issues.
I received my Lockhart Raven 556 in FDE on August 28th, a week ago today. I was extremely disappointed! At almost $2800 ($1100 more than the Siberian) I noticed right off the bat that all around the magwell were deep scratches. On the right side along all the high spots were drag marks and raw aluminum showing. After dismantling to clean I noticed bubbling in the cerakoting on bothe the lower and hand guard, now it's all flaked off. In the order I purchased 2 gen 3 pmags, instead I got janky cheap Duramags that don't cycle the rounds. I drilled out the gas hole from 5/64 to 7/64, a requirement after the upgraded gen 2 bolt carrier which the rifle came with. I don't know why they would send out the rifle with the new bolt carrier and not drill out the barrel when they know it has to be done?
I installed new BCM stock, rear sling QD under the buffer tube nut, grip and fore grip along with a new Eotech EXPS3-2 with a Stike Industries Rex Riser. I went with a Vtac padded sling. Everything in FDE or tan color.
The next day(Tuesday) I went to the range to break in the barrel and sight in the optic. The best I could get was a 10" group at 36 yards shotting 80 rounds. Again I was super disappointed given the money spent on and the money put into the rifle.
Wednesday I spoke to a gunsmith that is known for his custom AR builds. He said he could squeeze me in so Thursday morning I dropped off the rifle to get rebarreled. I went with a BCM SAM-R barrel with a SureFire Warden flash hider/gas regulator. He recommended I keep the Lockhart adjustable gas block. I put 500 rounds through it both Saturday and Sunday. Seems to ok after replacing the barrel. It's a bit heavier with the new barrel but the balance is better now. Thursday night I ordered an Eotech G45 x5 magnifier with another Strike Industries Rex Riser.

I’m glad that Canadian companies are providing us with some product….the demand is certainly there but they need to wake up and deliver with some quality.
Hope it works out for you, I’m kind of looking into a wk-181, I have a thing for the Soviet round 😏.

I think the Raven will be ok now functionally. The cerakoting is junk but I'm not as concerned with the looks as much as the performance. Rather than bring it to parliament for debate they have back-doored changes, holding us in a quasi-temp/permanent limbo.

The gen 1 and 2 both have the same overgassing issue. The aftermarket adjustable gas valve helps, but is undersized that gas just blows by when closed and still is overgassed. The best remedies I've found is to either handload lighter rounds (snore), or build your own adjustable valve that fits and actually works as an adjustable valve.

@@theguywithbeardgunsandgear that usually comes down to people not making sure their gas keys on the bottom of the barrel are tight, and then the gas block shifts and whack, goes the piston out of alignment, which causes breakage. I have a gen 1 and have never had an issue. Clean your rifles and check your screws people!

@@campbell0162 yeah I think people think they’re buying a Canadian AR-15, reliable and torture tested.
      These WK’s want love and they’re a bit needy😁

Just weld your own deflector on it.

I think at this point the gen1 is competely irrelevant in our current gun market with the amount of better and nicer rifles available

True there has been a few releases since these firearms. I thought it was good to compare the two generations. Still though shoots straight and cycles well.
      Thanks for watching.

valid point. i think the gen 1 still has relevancy because of its low cost for the type of firearm it is

Nah I don't think the gen 1 holds any value at all. Better off spending an extra 500 and getting something much better

They are just so hideous. Like they are affordable but I for some reason can't get by the boxy look the 180's all seem to have. Reliability has gotten better over the years with the release of new models but, they so ugly I don't think I could bring myself to own one. I'd probably go for a type-81 instead. If they hadn't of screwed over ATRS I probably would of purchased one of their rifles.

I think the Gen 2 looks every bit the part. It’s far less blocky IMHO.
      Maybe the Gen 3 🤔

Fitted to the body for body mechanics and also streamlined for less friction 🤪

Kodiak wk180c gen 2 is a cheap pos. Don't buy it you'll regret it. Get a different rifle.

While I agree that it is not a perfect firearm, it seems all the AR-18 platforms have one issue or another.
The passing of bill C-21 will not help us, we are very limited as to what we can have when it comes to 5.56 semi-automatic. There are no perfect Canadian products, reliability depends on how you use and how well you maintain it.
Of course there will be some issues but it is what it is😕
