Subbed to 2.0. Just finished Fallout 3, and I'm not prepping New Vegas to play. I have to fix a lot of issues with mods. Can't way to see you guys on the new channel :). Yey for game playthroughs!!!!

@@M4TCH3SM4L0N3 You can really see where they pulled plot threads from the various games. There's plot elements of all the games they riff off, but never directly copy.
The writing over this series has been absolutely phenomenal. Not since the I haven't seen such tight writing with such a richly complex internal structure of subtle foreshadowing and well-executed callbacks since the _Back to the Future_ films.
I like how the show actually writes Cooper as an immortal character who has all the time in the world. The Ghoul´s never in a hurry, never rushes a thing.
I've watched the series, and a bunch of reactions. Only now has it occurred to me that Lucy and Maximus were in Shady Sands at the same time, as children. There's a very real chance that they'd met before.
I watched this last episode by myself at, like, 3am and when the New Vegas reveal happened, I legit stood up and raised my arms in victory like I was Rocky and just made it to the top of those iconic stairs. I was already stoked on the show but knowing that New Vegas is coming next season...? Sign. Me. Up.
Yeah, the fact that New Vegas become a canon make me shout "YEAH!!!" I kinda suspect this at the time they show Riot Gear at ep.7, But then final confirmation at the end just perfect. *chef kiss
I don't care what anyone else says, this should be used as a masterclass on how to not only make a good video game adaptation but also how to make a good show. One of the best examples in recent times of how to do the mystery box trope correctly. Almost everything comes back in full circle, and the plotlines that don't get you interested for the next season. Some people hate on Maximus but he's the character I'm most interested to see more of.
That it is. This is the first tv show I've been interested in since Battlestar Galactica from the early 2000s. Being a big Fallout fan, I was a major skeptic about this show until I watched it and thoroughly enjoy it.
I agree with you with the one codicil that this really only applies to video games that do not have established main characters that you follow. (Last of Us did a good job with that). The writers here had a blank canvas for characters. Writers working with established characters need to operate by different rules that take those characters into account.
An example of amazing subtle writing, last episode Luzy returned the fusion core and she said "if my father found out i destroyed a civilization to save him, he would be heartbroken" and then the writers flipped it on this episode and she finds out her father DID kill a civilization just to selfishly get her back. AAA writing
There was so many little things like that making it so amazing. I also think when Cooper talked about Bakersfield meant something as well that we will find out in season 2. Bakersfield in game was home to vault 12 which intentionally had a faulty vault door allowing radiation into the vault, which turned all the inhabitants into ghouls and became known as necropolis. Perhaps Cooper became a ghoul in vault 12.
Also when the Ghoul (in this episode) specificly said "YOUNG Hank". One lived and aged the 237 years and the other just as old, but only LIVED a fraction of it.
We knew it was coming (bc TV show) but I really liked seeing the change in Coop's treatment of Lucy at the end of this ep. He went from using her as Gulper bait, constantly taunting her Vault-iness, cruelly pushing her to contaminate herself with surface-dweller attitudes (and water) like him, and selling her to organ harvesters for drugs to finally truly becoming a party member and talking to her like a partner at the end ("Are you coming or what?") as they set off on a quest together instead of him either going solo or basically abducting her like before. Also, I liked the symmetry/full circle moment that happens in that last scene: In the "Ghouls" episode (iirc), Lucy was horrified when Coop shot Roger (the ghoul who was turning feral), not realizing that he was doing Roger a kindness and not just killing him for ass jerky. Although Lucy goes on to shoot the newly feral Martha at the organ harvester place, it's just a last resort in self-defense. In this last episode, though, a much-evolved Lucy makes the *decision* to shoot her mother and put her out of her misery -- finally realizing the kindness in that act -- taking her even further down the path of understanding Coop and becoming a little more like him (in a good way). We kind of always knew they'd affect each other and bring each other a little more towards the middle -- like any good partnership does -- but I'm glad we're there now and I'm looking forward to them truly working together next season instead of always being in opposition.
Look at Maximus' face when Dane holds up his arm and praises him. To me, he looks as though his disillusion about how the Brotherhood truly is rather than how he thought it was, and now his anger and need for revenge for why he was left as a survivor from Shady Sands.
Yeah, I feel like Max has been getting increasingly disillusioned ever since he saw Knight Titus for what he was but, you're right, in that moment with Dane, it really felt like he was finally fully done with his dreams about the Brotherhood. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if the show gets some mileage next season out of the fact that Lucy left him there (despite her reasons being good). I'm interested to see how they'll play it. Will he think she was taken and is in danger and go on a mission to rescue her? Will he feel like she abandoned him, making him feel betrayed and therefore cling MORE to the Brotherhood for a while? Or maybe a combo (he goes to "save" her, only to discover that she left him there... and then he becomes a mini-antagonist for a couple of episodes)? If they go the "Max and Lucy are in opposition for a few episodes" route, I hope they don't spend too long on it. I always hated that in The Walking Dead when, every other season, they'd make Rick go too far down the "you have to be heartless in this world" path and make him a dick to everybody all season (and, the seasons in between, they'd make him too soft and trusting of everyone, but rarely if ever allowed him to land in the middle and just be a likeable main character). Once was okay, but they literally just had him alternate between extreme ends of the spectrum each season, and it got old real quick. Now that trope has become super tiresome to me and I kind of hope Fallout avoids it. I'd rather see Max feel trapped in the Brotherhood and search for a way out (and for Lucy) while still trying to seem loyal so they don't kill him. That's way more interesting to me than a trope-y misunderstanding that makes friends into enemies for a season before they eventually sort it all out (bc main characters).
it also shows character growth, as early in the show, you would have expected him to take credit himself. to lie about what had happened, but instead he says no, it wasn't him.
Lucy killing her mom as a “mercy” parallels The Ghoul doing it for his friend, and her being horrified. Shows her growth and the understanding that, even if you’re “happy” and “naïve” you also can’t grasp the concept of “mercy” if you don’t do something that in one persons perspective is “negative” for the benefit of someone else
What I like is that in Episode 7, Coop was telling Muldaver "The secret to a good villain is that they don't think they are a villain. Then we find out how much it applies to his own wife.
It also very much applies to Moldaver. A lot of people think she's the "good guy" of this story... How easily they forget that she's readily admitted to being a hypocrite, and that she doesn't mind using Vault-Tec's methods herself, if it gets her what she wants; not to mention that she happily led a bunch of psychos to murder people in Vault 33, a lot of whom had nothing to do with her Vault-Tec corporate enemies, and whose great-grandparents weren't even conceived when she started her grudge. With the possible exception of Lucy, there are no true "good guys" in this story.....
@@quwykxz I agree but I still think Moldaver is clearly the lesser of two evils, at least with what we know to date (Season 2 could show us more about her).
Ive seen alot of people say it doesnt make sense she wants to save humanity but she killed a bunch of people in the vaults- Then they completely forget that she said that to cooper, she knows that if she went into the vault and just kidnapped Hank without violence she wouldve lost- I dont agree with what she did but in this post war fallout world being 100% a good guy doesnt get you very far, even Lucy had to change to survive
@@quwykxz yep... exactly like the games. You never know how screwed up the story will be until the end and then everybody sucks and you have to pick the one that you dislike least ;)
I'm hoping we get some of that stuff as flashbacks in Season 2, it would also be a way of explaining how the heck Moldaver was still around. Generally most things in the show have a hint as to the reason they happen, but that doesn't have any explanation at all, other than the assumption thay she may somehow have had access to cryo tech and been somewhere safe.
@@Scyth0r She was rich and had dealings with Vault Tec who bought her out so there is ample reason to think she got a prefered slot in some vault cryo program. Hell maybe she was in the empty tube in 111. Only one cryotube is unoccupied when you wake and the institute KNEW about the facility so Enclave would as well.
@Scyth0r Well the reason is she was technically a part of vault tech - her work was bought out by vault tech, but she was likeley still workimg on cold fusion. If vault tech was gonna start humanity over - they're gonna need power. Heck Moldaver might have been in the management vault too.
"You want another autograph young Henry?" Is such a cold ass entry line. He stands out so much in every scene. Not even just looks but his presence and delivery. You both have awesome reactions to everything. Subacribed to the 2.0 channel and looking forward to future reactions. Arcane season 2 later this year 🙏🏻. The only other show that'd be an amazing ride with y'all that I would love to see is Peaky Blinders. Keep up the amazing work.
"He's like the Grim Reaper, man!" I love this comment because there is actually an ability in the games called the Grim Reaper's Sprint, which allows gunslinger characters to chain kill enemies in a fight. I gotta tell you guys I've been watching you a long time now and this series has been my favourite of your reactions, your love and passion for this series is clear in all of your videos and its been a fantastic journey. Can't wait for season 2!
theres a lot of perks from the game that can be seen in the show, Maximus is likely Idiot Savant even :D The Ghouls DEFINITLY has Bloody Mess equipped...
I watched the ep for the first time yesterday morning and Lucy's mum haunted my thoughts through the whole day. Getting some sleep helped put the thought a little on the back burner but that reveal was utterly heartbreaking. You could almost hear the very moment Lucy's heart shattered
The brain on a rumba is a simplified version of the Robobrain which is a fairly common robot in the Fallout world. You can even have a Robobrain companion in Fallout 2. Those robots are larger and have 2 tubelike arms with hands allowing then to use normal guns.
@@OfficialMediaKnights Have you guys seen Justified? He was exceptional in that, along with Timothy Oliphant, two superb actors at the top of their game. :)
Each of Lucy's "Okie dokies" have a different tone to them. The first one is one of a bubbly, happy-go-lucky person. The last one is from someone who lost hope and faith in everything she thought she knew.
She's dead inside, her life was a lie. Sad seeing someone who was optimistic end up like this. The Ghoul has been where she's at and hopefully he can help her on their travels.
The whole season is full of internal foreshadowing , as well as game references. A couple of favourites: EP1 - Lucy's inspirational poster "Don't lose your head". EP1 - As Dane talks about how they were injured, you briefly see the guys have gone back to bullying Thaddeus, foreshadowing what he says in EP3. EP2 - "All ten fingers, huh? Must be nice..." EP4 - Lucy metaphorically absorbs on a bit of the Wasteland via a finger. EP6 - The Ghoul absorbs a bit of Lucy's humanity via her finger.
Of the many questions this show managed to keep us guessing about, the fact that it was actually Dane who put razors in their own boot was one of my favourites. I’ll admit, I was sure it was Maximus
The score was so good. Goggins’s performance as Cooper Howard is freaking haunting in the finale. The final song, “We Three” by the Ink Spots, was a nice choice and really fits Fallout’s musical vibe. I’m excited to see Mr. House play a bigger role in season 2! The Hollywood sign being sponsored by Nuka Cola is an excellent last little Easter egg to cap off the season.
My Dad had a Vinyl Long Play Record of INK SPOTS that I didn't really appreciate until I was 16 years old. I really got into The Blues then & still love it.
"We Three" was a nice choice in general but I also love how it fits with our new party of three -- Lucy, Coop, and Dogmeat -- heading off into the next part of the adventure.
Have to give Norm props solving a story line by doing what no player has ever done playing the games. He actually read what's on the terminals. Going back a few episodes, when Betty says that she helped Hank bury Rose, she technically wasn't lying. She likely believes Rose was buried in the rubble after they nuked Shady Sands.
I wouldn't say "no player has ever done". I'm a terminal geek. :p But yeah, would be nice if more people read terminals instead of bulling through the game. To each his own, I guess.
@@jaeladarlingtrailersI wish there were more terminals in game. I always read every terminal possible and get upset when I see one that says terminal corrupt.
I always read the terminals (though I'm not always happy about it when there are a lot of them in a short time) because I like lore. That being said, I like when games are designed so that different types of players can play however they like. You like to immerse in the world and know all the lore? Here are some notes and terminals with info for you to explore. Just want to sprint through every scenario, twitch-shooting everything that moves with no interest in the world or the lore? No problem bc the lore is just an extra bit of icing on the cake, not at all critical to winning.
I usually read the terminal entries if for nothing else to acquire more info about whatever quest I'm currently on or to get info about another site, weapon, item, etc...
I read everything there is on every terminal. It's generally interesting, and if you don't do it, you have no idea of what happened in the area you're exploring (especially vaults.)
Keep in mind the Flame Mother also should be dead if 200+ years passed. Soooo keep in mind she’s lying too. There’s a part of her story not adding up either.
Moldaver KNEW Cooper's wife, even bragging to him at their first meeting that she knew a side of her he didn't. The only way that happens is if Moldaver was part of VaultTec. She wants to subvert them and their insane designs on destroying and rebuilding humanity, but doesn't have the power, so she worked her way into their midst and went into cryo with the rest of "management" when the bombs dropped. That's got to be the only way, and the reason Hank said she was just like him.
@@meadmaker4525she said vaulted bought up every company she worked for. They were trying to stop her cold fusion work so it's obvious she was part of vault tec.
@@Milner62 Yes. She was at one point. But a junior exec had more authority than she had, which was why she had to kidnap him. So she wasn't with Vault Tec at the end. So it seems like she shouldn't have been in a vault or at least not a good vault.
She is not lying about the general story (because the bits we see of her in the past are through Cooper's eyes, and he is not an unreliable narrator)... but her motivations and how she managed to survive all that time, that is open to debate (considering the different ways people have extended their lives in the universe of the game). Also we don't know when she realized her investigation was going to be shelved, if she realized the true extent of what was coming, what other allies she might have had, if she was close to Vault Tec members that were ignorant or not on board with the vault plan... The bits of her story that don't add up are because we have +200 years of conspiracy to fill just for her character :P.
10:00 "Freddie-Boy, you could lose money running a casino." isn't just a subtle and funny little easter egg. It's also kinda sad, if you know the tragic backstory of New Vegas' DLC "Dead Money" and you finally realize who this "Freddie-Boy" really is.
So excited for your Fallout 3 playthrough. It was my first ever Fallout game. Even though most people agree New Vegas is the best one, i think 3 has the best atmosphere
New Vegas was fun but I never put the same number of hours into new Vegas as I did in 3. The Mojave wasteland was way too cluttered with POIs it felt small and there just wasn't as much variation in map it was all desert. In 3 you had biomes that just wasn't there for new vegas.
I've loved all the Fallout games since Fallout 1 and have always cited it as my favorite game franchise, all-time. I def loved New Vegas but -- and I know this isn't the majority opinion -- FO4 is actually my favorite. At one of my previous game jobs (I was a designer with Activision, EA, and several other small studios for 10-ish years), I worked with a guy who would go on to be a producer on the Fallout games and we used to talk a lot about FO3 and New Vegas. I always load my Bethesda games with mods (100+, usually) and I was obsessed with the settlement building mod (the name of which I can't remember) and would constantly talk to him about it, tell him how I wished it was part of the main game, etc. Although he was more of a Skyrim fanboy, he started playing more Fallout and playing with that mod. Anyway, he left our studio to work on Fallout 4 and, when it came out and had the settlement building in it, (1) I knew he was at least partially behind pushing that to be in, and (2) I LOVED it. I know it wasn't everybody's favorite aspect of that game but, man, it just added a whole 'nother level to the gameplay for me. The constant "Your settlement is under attack" messages when I was in the middle of a quest halfway across the map did get a little annoying (and probably could've been avoided by having that message/event not fire if you were in the middle of a critical quest moment elsewhere) but, tbh, was easily solvable by setting up the settlements to be able to defend themselves. After doing that, I could just choose to ignore those messages if I was busy, knowing my people would be fine without my help. Anyway, yeah, I agree that FO3 has great atmosphere and New Vegas has a fun, slightly silly vibe, but I feel like FO4 -- especially the beginning -- is closest to the look and feel of the show. If somebody was looking to dip their toes into a Fallout game for the first time after watching the series, I'd probably suggest playing FO4 just because I think it would feel more immediately familiar, vibe-wise (plus you get Codsworth right outta the gate, and that's a fun connection to the show). But, really, it's hard to go wrong with any of the games. They're all good.
So, what's really awesome is that last scene. That's what's left of Las Vegas, or "New Vegas". Also, each character around the table in the pre-war segment is a character mentioned in the game (except Cooper's Wife). Basically, the mustachio'd guy is Robert House who was incharge of RobCo, a robotics company in the Fallout universe. He also pretty much runs Las Vegas. The heavier guy sat next to him was his competitor, Sinclaire who ran Big Mountain, a research facility in Big Mt, Arizona. He also made a casino named the Sierra Madre. The guy in charge of WestTek isn't named, but the company sure is. They did some real messed up genetic experiments. Each vault they mention is one from the games. The hallucination one is 113 from 3. They pumped a gas into the vents and caused the occupants to go crazy. The competing one is actually a lot, but references a fanfic about Vault 2, where the occupants are all sports stars and literally bred to compete. The story is pretty funny too, like when the raiders try to get the vault but meet a grisly fate. WestTek's "super soldier" program is also where we get Super Mutants from and the Mariposa Military Base from Fallout 1. There's even more messed up vaults than the ones from the show, like Vaults 68 and 69. 68 has 999 men and ONE woman. 69 is the opposite. There was also a vault that had a single occupant and a box of hand puppets.
@@johnplaysgames3120 Ironically, it sounds a lot more fun than it actually was. According to the fic it came from, the man met a horrible end where he was essentially kept in a medically induced coma and milked for procreation.
One thing to keep in mind in the Fallout universe, the Unreliable Narrator is supreme. There's always a swerve. It's still possible that China dropped the bombs first and that it was the Brotherhood that took out Shady Sands. And we have no idea what Moldaver was up to for all that time. Anyhow, just a couple of thoughts that crossed my mind while rewatching this awesome adaptation of the game's universe.
I agree... Hank was awfully capable in that power armor... like he's worn it before... and i kinda doubt the smug younger Hank war it pre-war. He might be Brotherhood himself. So rather than Hank blowing up Shady Sands singlehandedly, it may have been the Brotherhood... theyve fought against the NCR on many occasions.
I don't think that it's Vault Tec that dropped the first bombs, even if they intended to. They caught the ghoul's family by surprise. His wife would have been aware of the time of the attack, and they would have been safely in a vault, not having a party in a suburban area.
The writing over this series has been absolutely phenomenal. Not since the _Back to the Future_ series have I seen such tight writing with such a richly complex internal structure of subtle foreshadowing and well-executed callbacks. Honestly, this isn't just the best new sci-fi and the best video game adaptation I've seen in years; this is one of the best shows that I've ever seen in my life. I can't wait for Season 2.
End is what's called New Vegas (the rebuilt Las Vegas, yes). And the moustached guy at the 'table' who jabs Fred about running a casino, is the Robert House, owner of the Lucky 38, itself a casino and a grand hommage to Howard Hughes. In New Vegas he's still alive, via cryo-pod-ish thing.
Im back in the Wasteland, level 148, with my JetPacked X-1 Power Armour painted red with hot rod flames, shooting critters and stuff. Bring in season 2!!!!
And now you can think back on Vault 32. "We know the truth" "Death to management" When Moldaver broke into 32, she revealed the truth to them, about Shady Sands, and about what the overseer of their neighbor vault did. Some of them couldn't handle it and self deleted. Others tried to get into 31. This was over 2 years ago, and Moldaver just waited for the next tri-annual exchange to get into 33.
I don't think we have any reason to believe Moldaver is the reason Vault 32 discovered the truth. She hooked up with a band of raider Jet-fiends because she expected needing to fight her way through. If she had come from outside and told them the truth, I think more of them would have left, rather than died trying to claw their way into 31.
Yes, it's heavily implied the fall of Vault 32 wasn't Moldaver's doing. That happened on its own (and, apparently, as part of an experiment introduced to that vault; the hint is the video speaking of how mice behave when famine strikes). I haven't paused the episode where they learn it was Miss McClane's pip boy the one that opene the vault's door to see if there is a date; but in their little expedition Norm and his cousin realize the Raiders got access after the Vault dwellers of 32 massacred themselves. The timeline will need to be clarified further (just to set dates more accurately), but it seems like this: Shady Sands gets nuked; Miss McLane's pip boy stays in the surface (if Raiders knew how to use it to open the vault door right away, they needed to figure it out first or the device needed some repairs, that's unknown and a part of the story I'd love to see expanded); after that, and two years before the events of the series, the dwellers of Vault 32 discover something about "management" and violently revolt until none stays alive (we still don't know if this was a discovery on its own or it happened as a result of a second blight that spiraled out of control, potentially as a continued experiment in the vault); after Vault 32 falls, Moldaver gets access to the vault (to make some sense why McClane is not suspicious something happened in the vault, it's easy to assume Moldaver impersonated for a while the communications of the vault, just as Norm briefly pretends to be Betty; how long that game lasted, we don't know). Eventually, when Moldaver gets enough confirmation of what's going on and how to get easy access into 33; the wedding scheme starts (McClane, being the selfish individual he is, has had no reason to check how they are in the "still functioning" Vault 32, has no reason to question the recurrence of sick crops in the Vault and, even more so, has no reason to remember who Moldaver is; considering he nuked that problem all those years ago).
@@DocuzanQuitomos TBH I don't it was an experiment. 32 & 33 were a breeding pool to create a middle-management class, not a typical experiment, they actually don't want to cause problems for them. Either the blight thing was real and caused societal breakdown which also revealed the truth, or somehow the truth came out and they all went nuts with the existential horror of it.
I really don't think Moldaver would bother waiting for two years. If she had, the raider who talked to norm would have known something about what was happening. No, they figured it out on their own somehow, or something went wrong. I suspect we will learn in the next season, but i don't think it had anything to do with Moldaver.
@@DocuzanQuitomos Or they tested the crop failure on 32 to see if they would kill each other as their studies showed. Remember they had the vaults separate but 31 could have got them new seeds in a second by calling 33. They had coms so that means 33 and 31 decided to let 32 fall or 32 fell so fast that the overseer never got to call for help.
This show is a brilliant example of flawed greedy corporate thinking. Vault Tec wanted to stop the fighting by getting rid of the factions but then outsources their vaults to other corporations thereby creating new factions. Interesting fact is that Shady Sands was originally founded by vault dwellers from Vault 15 and yet Hank goes and nukes it because he thinks it's a threat to his vaults plans. This is one of the best shows I've seen in ages. Great reaction and commentary, keep them up.
What I love this episode being a veteran myself is the look on Coopers face realizing the freedoms he fought for being erased and by all of the the people the woman he loves. Such pain. And I love his dynamic with Lucy. Yes he is hardened but he still has old Coopers heart and soldier nature. Shit he is better father than Lucy's he cares about deeply about family.
That was great! You guys have been some of my favourite reactors who haven't played the games! You catch onto things really quickly and are huge proof that people can just watch the show cold! Definitely gonna keep watching you guys! ❤
First off, I didn't even make the "Barb" connection until you two pointed it out. Second, there's a great gag with Bud that's kind of subtle but still great: in-setting it's long established that people can in fact have their brains put in "Robobrain" bodies that are either human-sized (albeit clunky) robots or floating Mr. Handy style bodies (like Snip-Snip). But even though Bud set up a pretty effective plan for Vault-Tec to "win capitalism", the company still wouldn't spring for a full body for him and just stuck him on what's basically an RC car. Thirdly, I'm glad you're going to be playing the games but when you get to New Vegas I'd recommend looking up the "Viva New Vegas" modding guide; NV is pretty buggy out of the box, so you'd want to mod it so it's stable and adds in some QOL features.
Agreed about the mods. Every Bethesda game I play, I usually end up with somewhere in the neighborhood of 100-ish mods. Not all of those are critical, obvs, but the QoL stuff is def recommended and, presuming your computer is not a tater, I'd probably suggest some of the graphics mods too just to update the look a little. It's a great game but it's an old game and, y'know, looks it. Better graphics are not make-or-break but they definitely help with immersion if you're playing in 2024. Loved your observation about Bud, btw. I thought it was great that he was all about being one of the people in power post-apocalypse but, in reality, he ended up in a robot body that could be defeated by a mop handle blocking his path and was too small and slow to even stop Norm from slowly walking in to discover the vault's secrets. Bud became the opposite of powerful and that's awesome.
Also, from Max's POV, he doesn't know that Lucy chose to leave. The last thing he remembers, her Shady Sands-nuking dad was in power armor and knocked him the hell out. When he woke up, everyone was gone. For all Max knows, Lucy's power-armored dad kidnapped her and she needs to be rescued.
This episode is crazy good , I also like how they pieced everything together at the end to give the full story on why the bombs were dropped I wonder if that guy (Big MT) the guy that said in the vault Tec meeting about overcrowding the vault so that people have to compete inside it to survive , is what happened in vault 32 and maybe he was in charge of vault 32 , because I remember Norm and Chet went to investigate Vault 32 and they found deleted bodies and they found 2 corpses that were choking eachother
Question would be if it was only Hank who did it. Betty said they buried their mother together, implying it wasn't only Hank. It might have been them 2, or it was an order from higher ups. If shady sands got too attractive then Rose with the kids was just an extra trigger for Hank to push management to wipe out the unwanted new society
@@killerbas40 Especially since Moldaver mentioned that Shady Sands was living the post-vault dream and was actually thriving on the surface. That took me back to Norm's comment in the first episode when he tells Lucy that Betty and the others didn't want to go find Hank because then they wouldn't get to be in charge anymore. If Shady Sands succeeded and this rogue group of former vault-dwellers actually restarted civilization properly (before "Reclamation Day"), then Hank and Management wouldn't get to be in charge anymore.
The thing is, that whole concept is just a lie. VaultTec don't actually want the Vaults to succeed independently. They're all just experiments, built for the Enclave to swoop in and take over the best ideas. I'm betting that is what Season 2 is going to lean into, with Cooper's wife getting instructions from that shadowy figure.
I wonder where they would have gotten the nuke from. mini-nukes are common enough, but one with a tonnage to make a crater that large would be a bit harder to come by. assuming he even did it. my first thought when I heard what happened was Lonesome Road.
I binged the series when I got around to watching. By the time I got to finale I was well into my second bottle of red. Thank you so much for reminding me of the bits I missed. Love from Fermanagh
Awesome, amazing reaction, as always!! I was so stoked when I saw y'all were reacting to Fallout. I've been watching your channel with great enjoyment for a few months now, and this was one of the reactions I was most excited about. The show is AMAZEBALLS, and I cannot wait for season 2 (and hopefully beyond). That said, y'all leaving out Lucy's final 'Okey Dokey' is practically criminal. :p :) The final shot is, in fact, New Vegas. The show is set JUST after the events of the game, and it'll be interesting to see which ending they went with as the canon going forward with the show. And yes, every reactor I've watched (and I've watched LOTS) who's played the games went absolutely APESHIT when Hank walked over the hill and saw New Vegas in the distance. I know I certainly did too. Fun Fact: The guy who talked about casinos in the big Table O'Evil Bastards scene is, in fact, a MAJOR part of New Vegas (and I'll leave it at that, cuz No Spoilers!! :D ).
Loved, Loved,LOVED this journey of this show with ya'll. Insightful and honest reactions, giving props to things from set, costumes, effects, acting, and storytelling. Can really feel the passion as the show moved from episode to episode. Glad you took a change to do a series with THIS series. Also excited to see your gamin channel! Props!
Lucy's dad ended up escaping to the city of the second 3D game of the entire series Fallout: New Vegas the sequel to Fallout 3 I believe six years after?
The other channel doesn't have any videos yet. :P The intro cinematic of Fallout 3 isn't the only reference song. Pretty much all of the songs in the show are in the games. When you get access to radio stations in game you can listen to them. Other than Fallout 1&2 the games are only really linked by setting so checking out cinematic between them won't really spoil anything for the other games or the show. Each game is mostly self contained because it takes place in a different part of the country and a different year. Other than groups like Brotherhood of steel who have branches all over the country so show up in all games each game has it's own factions fighting for power. The Brotherhood are tech horders that seek to gain old world tech for their own use. Some branches of the Brotherhood are more accepting and willing to help than others so their role and your interaction with them changes from game to game.
All those knights never thinking to turn on their headlamps while the Ghoul wastes them. 😂 Fallout’s stormtroopers Fallout 3 was the first game in the series I played. It was an experience to finally step into the heart of Washington D.C. and witness its post-war state. I’d toured the city in high school, and I looked around for some of the same landmarks in Fallout that I’d seen IRL. I’ve already subscribed to your new channel, and am excited to see your own reaction to this incredible game to launch your own journey into the series!
Consider the following- Betty was there from day 1. Betty never called Norm out, instead she cautioned him and told him that his voice had meaning. Betty told him about anger. The boy who peed on the wall, and then she said be grateful you never seen what another boy would do when he's that angry. The last boy she was talking about was Hank McClean when he blew up Shady Sands. I will bet a 6 pack Betty saves Norm. We didn't see Norm close out the computer, did we? That would mean that whatever he was looking at last was on the screen when he walked away from it.
Now I think to myself, what a wonderful world. Heartbreaking, plot twist, and changes everything for the Fallout Universe. Now when I think of humans of Fallout, Vault Tec and Moldaver, no matter what they do, It’s Always in their nature to destroy themselves because of their ways. They will never rest until they spoiled the Earth. References to Terminator 2 Judgment Day and Watership Down 1978.
HI! Been watching you two for 4 months & Your "SHOW" & Both of you are AMAZINGLY FUN Video Friends! This "FALLOUT" Series is crazy good! I'm a much HAPPIER OLD MAN NOW-(age: 74)-even tho' I'm not a 'GAMER'. Tried it once when 'CALL OF DUTY' appeared, but kept getting 'pissed off' at getting 'taken out' by all the 'sneaky pop-up snipers' whenever I ran forward to press my attack! So, I surrendered & gave up gaming. My favorite 'Gaming' was in the Mall Video ARCADES & some Bars & Laundry Mats that 'took' all my QUARTERS! TEMPEST & GALAGA were my 'thing' along with 'shooting Pool'. These days I WATCH YOU (& others) play 'for me' while I relax in my sofa. Thank you for all the HONEST REACTIONS & Explanations of your Videos & especially this series "FALLOUT"! "FAR OUT, MAN...(& WOMAN)" You're Cool as ICE ICE BABY!!!
Oh boy, been waiting for your reaction to the final episode! Can't believe some people thought the acting was bad and the script was cheesy! Well that's a first, never subscribed to channel with no content before! Looking forward to your Fallout journey.
So freaking awesome to watch all the videos….i drove back to drs moines from Kansas City and just binge watched your reactions (don’t worry I listened more than watched while driving lol)
Another great reaction, excited for the next season and your guys fallout 3 playthrough. So Ghouls in fallout are basically immortal. But they can go feral. Something I am not sure you guys caught onto, but outside of the observatory, there was a sign “headquarters of the new california republic”. And the survivors in vault 4 call Moldover the flame mother, who will bring back shady sands. It kind of lets who know who she was working for. I don’t think it’s really a spoiler, but the Shady Sands was the capital of the NCR, the NCR could still be around.
Best reaction of this hands down! The juxtaposition of the gorgeous music and the carnage ia part of the game! Her making Max give the power core back because her dad wouldn't be "broken" if she destroyed a community to get him back while he is responsible for the massacre of Shady Sands. The ironic symmetry. Her asking Coop why he killed that ghoul while thinking with one last beautiful memory, and her not shooting him and mercifully putting her mom out her misery. Such great story writing! Played 3, new vegas, 4 and 76. Cant wait to see what they do next!?!?!
I’m so happy you guys are starting a new channel. Consider me subscribed. I’m so glad you guys loved the show and are diving into the games. Edit: I think the Brotherhood is going to take credit for providing power to the surrounding settlements and are going to use it to propagate their numbers and strength. We’ll see Lucy and Cooper follow Hank to New Vegas, and as gamers we might get some interesting answers to the game’s questions.
Damn near cried when I realised that Lucy did actually feel the sun and it wasn't in her imagination, in the next decade people are going to realise just how well written this season was.
Hi guys! Everything's already been said about Fallout by more knowledgeable than me, so... Let me praise you instead. I simply love you, guys! In my opinion, you are by far the best reactors around: you're both very likeable, witty, your analysis and commentaries always interesting and relevant, your editing superb... I sincerely wish I could join or become a patreon but times are hard. In any case, I'm really looking forward to TMK 2.0, which I've already subscribed to, obviously.
I have really enjoyed watching your reaction to the series. I've been playing the games for years, and I was really curious how non-players would react. And I was not disappointed. This was so much fun! I hope to see some videos of you playing the games, or maybe a reaction video to all of the various Fallout trailers. Whatever the case, thank you again. This was a great ride, and I can't wait for season 2.
The city at the end where Lucy' dad was heading is New Vegas, run by Mr.House. He was present at the meeting that Coopers wife was in discussing ideas for the vaults. He actually managed to defend Vegas pretty well from the nuclear strikes by installing defenses before the assault, so Vegas largely survived compared to other cities. The NCR made a huge encampment in New Vegas and the surrounding Mojave.
Yes that city at the end was New Vegas...and yes fans knew right away and people like me absolutely lost it seeing it lol. Also one of the guys at the vault tech meeting was Mr. House representing Robco...a huge character in the new Vegas games that stayed alive from pre war age as well.
Looking forward to the Fallout 3 gameplay! That is how I was introduced to the Fallout World and there is so much to do! Can't wait to see what you guys find!
Such a fabulous reaction to a fabulous (season) finale. I didn't think the different plotlines could be brought together in a satisfying way but, obviously, I was quite wrong! 😉 I'm very anxious to see you playing the game now that you have some knowledge of the Fallout world. I'm already subscribed to TMK 2.0. 😉👍

What a fantastic theme to explore for this season, seriously.

What a great observation! The knowledge of his own immortality affects everything he does and it's such a fascinating aspect of his character!
After all, what is the greatest weapon of mass destruction? Time 😉
Raul is never off the suspicions, the guy knows too much.
I think immortal is the wrong term. He can definitely die and almost turned feral as well.
@@revelation9125 Yes. I meant he can’t die of “natural causes”. But most definitely can be killed.
I've watched the series, and a bunch of reactions. Only now has it occurred to me that Lucy and Maximus were in Shady Sands at the same time, as children. There's a very real chance that they'd met before.
Holy crap, never thought of that.
Bruh. 🤯
I suspect that they'll turn out to be siblings.
"Fans of the game probably know what this is..."
And the screams we scrumpt when we saw that final reveal 😂
Apparently this is all set 10 years after new Vegas....BUT since new Vegas had many different endings Mr house could be alive or dead.
I watched this last episode by myself at, like, 3am and when the New Vegas reveal happened, I legit stood up and raised my arms in victory like I was Rocky and just made it to the top of those iconic stairs. I was already stoked on the show but knowing that New Vegas is coming next season...? Sign. Me. Up.
The House always wins...
I shouted "NEW VEGAAAAAAAAS!!!!"😂
Yeah, the fact that New Vegas become a canon make me shout "YEAH!!!"
I kinda suspect this at the time they show Riot Gear at ep.7, But then final confirmation at the end just perfect.

The Last of Us: am i a joke to you?
@@lainwakura Didn't watch it. I stopped caring after you know what.
Agreed. I want the makers to do a bioshock and mass effect adaptation
Lucy: "What are you?" Ghoul: "Oh, I'm you sweetie, you just give it a little time.
Well, he did the same in the Vault. Close Lucy over the others
.. and it broke her heart ..
In my opinion, the story is written so well that it doesn't even bother how often the characters coincidentally run into each other.
12:50 Yep, that's our Betty, not many people catch that at first...
I caught it first time so I was surprised how many people miss it.

"I bet that outfit makes ya'll feel like a big man, don't it?" Is one of my favorite line deliveries in quite a while.
We all knew it was coming, but Lucys heartbreak/loss of faith in her own world was so sad to see. Props to Ella Purnell
@@johnplaysgames3120 I think they might be setting up a Brotherhood Civil War.
it also shows character growth, as early in the show, you would have expected him to take credit himself. to lie about what had happened, but instead he says no, it wasn't him.
One of the Ghouls at the observatory is the same one that thanked Lucy when she freed all the ghouls at the Super Duper mart.
And Hank
Lucy and Maximus probably played together as kids
Omg truee🥲
I'm hoping we get some of that stuff as flashbacks in Season 2, it would also be a way of explaining how the heck Moldaver was still around. Generally most things in the show have a hint as to the reason they happen, but that doesn't have any explanation at all, other than the assumption thay she may somehow have had access to cryo tech and been somewhere safe.
That would be the core of Kdrama
@@Scyth0r She was rich and had dealings with Vault Tec who bought her out so there is ample reason to think she got a prefered slot in some vault cryo program. Hell maybe she was in the empty tube in 111. Only one cryotube is unoccupied when you wake and the institute KNEW about the facility so Enclave would as well.
@Scyth0r
Well the reason is she was technically a part of vault tech - her work was bought out by vault tech, but she was likeley still workimg on cold fusion. If vault tech was gonna start humanity over - they're gonna need power. Heck Moldaver might have been in the management vault too.
"War Never Changes" is the motto, the essence of all Fallout games.
A Universal truth. A sad truth.

The Lucy's mom reveal hit me HARD 😥
I watched the ep for the first time yesterday morning and Lucy's mum haunted my thoughts through the whole day. Getting some sleep helped put the thought a little on the back burner but that reveal was utterly heartbreaking. You could almost hear the very moment Lucy's heart shattered
The brain on a rumba is a simplified version of the Robobrain which is a fairly common robot in the Fallout world. You can even have a Robobrain companion in Fallout 2. Those robots are larger and have 2 tubelike arms with hands allowing then to use normal guns.
In Fallout 4 you can actually make them, via the robot workbench, to act as settlers, provisioners, companions, and they are fully customisable.
The ghoul survived so long beacuse during the nuke he took a lot of radiation that didnt kill him but mutated

So true, her last okey dokey broke our hearts! What a wonderful detail that adds so much depth to her character!
I feel it's a very ominous, threatening, 'vengence is coming' tone. We may see an angry Lucy next season.
She's dead inside, her life was a lie. Sad seeing someone who was optimistic end up like this. The Ghoul has been where she's at and hopefully he can help her on their travels.
@@CollideFan1I wouldn't say dead inside, if only because of the connection she made with Maximus.
It's like Maximus said, Everyone wants to save the world, they just cant agree how
The whole season is full of internal foreshadowing , as well as game references. A couple of favourites:
EP1 - Lucy's inspirational poster "Don't lose your head".
EP1 - As Dane talks about how they were injured, you briefly see the guys have gone back to bullying Thaddeus, foreshadowing what he says in EP3.
EP2 - "All ten fingers, huh? Must be nice..."
EP4 - Lucy metaphorically absorbs on a bit of the Wasteland via a finger.
EP6 - The Ghoul absorbs a bit of Lucy's humanity via her finger.
Of the many questions this show managed to keep us guessing about, the fact that it was actually Dane who put razors in their own boot was one of my favourites. I’ll admit, I was sure it was Maximus
This episode has enough shocking reveals to make a person's head explode.
The House Always Wins
My Dad had a Vinyl Long Play Record of INK SPOTS that I didn't really appreciate until I was 16 years old. I really got into The Blues then & still love it.
"We Three" was a nice choice in general but I also love how it fits with our new party of three -- Lucy, Coop, and Dogmeat -- heading off into the next part of the adventure.
@@CollideFan1 That's because the game was rigged from the start.
That's if house survives in 2291 in New Vegas. The strip looks quite decimated.
Maximus should've remmebered the quote by Benjamin Franklin "Three can keep a secret, if two of them are dead"
27:50 Yeah, we lost our minds.
New Vegas!!!
Cannot wait!
Keep in mind the Flame Mother also should be dead if 200+ years passed. Soooo keep in mind she’s lying too. There’s a part of her story not adding up either.
yeah. I expect to see her in flashbacks next season explaining wtf was going on with her still being alive.
I wanted to replay it but it no longer runs for me. It crashes every time. I am so sad. So I am replaying Fallout 4 instead.
Um... how would a person get a slot in Vault 69? Is there, like, an application process or a waiting list or something? Asking for a friend.
Pretty sure that was vault 106
@@johnplaysgames3120 Ironically, it sounds a lot more fun than it actually was. According to the fic it came from, the man met a horrible end where he was essentially kept in a medically induced coma and milked for procreation.
@@garypeyman932 106, you're right. I forgot the designation. 113 was the Gary vault, wasn't it?
@@johnplaysgames3120 After working with several female colleagues. You don't want to be in that vault, buddy.
...whether you male or female.
So rather than Hank blowing up Shady Sands singlehandedly, it may have been the Brotherhood... theyve fought against the NCR on many occasions.
there is another possibility for shady sands. Lonesome Road.
I don't think that it's Vault Tec that dropped the first bombs, even if they intended to. They caught the ghoul's family by surprise. His wife would have been aware of the time of the attack, and they would have been safely in a vault, not having a party in a suburban area.
You two are the reason why I started watching this show. After seeing your reaction to the pilot, I got hooked and binged it all. Thank you Knights!!!
The writing for Fallout lore is so good. Glad they made the ncr the “good guys” this go through
Frances Turner really killed it in this episode, what a great actress!
I love that every time they show that Maximus Shady Sands flashback, the feeling is different because of the context.
And now you can think back on Vault 32. "We know the truth" "Death to management"
When Moldaver broke into 32, she revealed the truth to them, about Shady Sands, and about what the overseer of their neighbor vault did.
I think Max knows what the Brotherhood would do to Lucy if she was still there when they showed up.
This episode is crazy good , I also like how they pieced everything together at the end to give the full story on why the bombs were dropped
I wonder if that guy (Big MT) the guy that said in the vault Tec meeting about overcrowding the vault so that people have to compete inside it to survive , is what happened in vault 32 and maybe he was in charge of vault 32 , because I remember Norm and Chet went to investigate Vault 32 and they found deleted bodies and they found 2 corpses that were choking eachother
Great writing, great production value, great hosts! Thank you guys, you're awesome.
Hadn't come across you 2 before the Fallout reactions, rewatching them with you was a blast. Such a perfect finale.
Your reactions did not disappoint! Especially the part with “we drop the bomb ourselves” Henry being Hank
Awesome reaction, you guys! I absolutely loved the reveal of New Vegas. New Vegas is one of my all time favorite Fallout games, right next to 3 and 4.
Love the react! Love the insight from you all! Can't wait for the second channel!
Would Hank have nuked Shady Sands if he knew it was started by former vault dwellers? This show should win all the awards.
I wonder where they would have gotten the nuke from. mini-nukes are common enough, but one with a tonnage to make a crater that large would be a bit harder to come by. assuming he even did it. my first thought when I heard what happened was Lonesome Road.
lol yes I called the number too 😂 you’ll are the first TH-camrs to call in a video I love it
I believe Reel Rejects called that number, as well, several days before this video came u on YT. And I'm sure thare are probably others. as well...
yes the season final thanks for uploading guys ❤
Watched this series myself, watched it on another channel when it first dropped, been eagerly waiting for every episode on your channel.
Very excited to see your play-throughs, especially of the Fallout games now that you’ve completed the show! Love your commentary, the both of youse.
The final shot is, in fact, New Vegas.
Props!
Thank you for joining us! We’re so happy we gave this a shot. So much to love! Thank you again for all the love and support ❤️
Lucy's dad ended up escaping to the city of the second 3D game of the entire series Fallout: New Vegas the sequel to Fallout 3 I believe six years after?
Just when you think the nukes in episode one were the most devastating bombs they dropped, along comes the season finale to drop some more.
The pouplarity of this show has really blown up...
The other channel doesn't have any videos yet. :P
The intro cinematic of Fallout 3 isn't the only reference song.
😂 Fallout’s stormtroopers
Fallout 3 was the first game in the series I played.
You guys and the comments pretty much covered everything I had to say, so this comment is for the algorithm. Great job!
Consider the following-
Betty was there from day 1.
Subscribed to the second channel :) as a Fallout fan who has played all the games I am looking foward a lot to see you dive into the games
Bud came up with the 3 vault (31,32 & 33). Barb even mentioned it.
Can't wait to go watch you guys crawl out through the Fallout ...games!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hell yes! Was so looking forward to seeing if you guys were doing a Fallout playthrough! Heading there immediately!

I watched the show and just enjoyed rewatching the show with you guys.
Yes! Fallout gameplay! Subscribed already!
You guys earned my sub with your Tarantino movie reviews, then you earned my love with the Fallout reviews.
Can't wait for content on the new channel. This series made me want to play Fallout now.
Oh man, I can’t wait for you to find out what happens in all the vaults. 😳
Yes that city at the end was New Vegas...and yes fans knew right away and people like me absolutely lost it seeing it lol.
Also one of the guys at the vault tech meeting was Mr. House representing Robco...a huge character in the new Vegas games that stayed alive from pre war age as well.
A great observation I seen someone say was everyone in the end gets what they wanted in the beginning but aren't happy about it
6:01 this is my fav part, if you pause and see his nose, that attention to detail is what i live for
Looking forward to the Fallout 3 gameplay! That is how I was introduced to the Fallout World and there is so much to do! Can't wait to see what you guys find!
Such a fabulous reaction to a fabulous (season) finale. I didn't think the different plotlines could be brought together in a satisfying way but, obviously, I was quite wrong! 😉
I'm very anxious to see you playing the game now that you have some knowledge of the Fallout world. I'm already subscribed to TMK 2.0. 😉👍
“if my dad learned that i destroyed an entire society… it would break his heart.”
oh the irony…
