    The winner should be based on quality and accuracy not nostalgia and commonality IMO.

    Inno64 is the best of the bunch overall, with Tarmac right there. Tarmac has QA issues, though. Aside from RLC, I've completley moved on from HotWheels.

      thats how you can spot a scalper and not someone who truly enjoys an accurate model at this scale lol its like if someone bought a stack of maisto 1/18s from costco and tried selling them at $100+ each. maybe theres a couple rare ones out there but not worth that much either

    I'll have to admit those headlights on the Inno64 are the only ones out of the 4 models that accurately capture the true shape of the GTR32 lights. Amazing piece, not much can be critiqued for a display model. Great comparo👍

    Personally I think MiniGT is the best here because it's sort of an all-rounder within the group that leans to premium, but can roll still like a toy, (even if no one would normally try to freakin run one down a HW track... Without some cushions scattered all over the track) comfortable pricing (for where I live, that is. A premium HW that's scalped often would get too much markups, and both Inno/Tarmac is too much to pay up when compared to the value of a similar MiniGT that's 1/2-1/3 the price), and with some detail safety feature in mind (rubber side mirrors! Detail without sacrificing durability). Sure, MiniGT QC is a bit spotty (had personal experience with that), but just like getting a bad apple or a "common" HW error, the chances are low.

      My first imperfect Mini GT is the GT-R NISMO GT3 (2018 presentation livery), its right signal light dot wasn't centered over the brake light and the wing isn't transversely level. I think I haven't seen an error-free one yet.

The third however was a disastrous one in terms of QC - Dragonsnake Shelby with obvious very bent rear wing, and one wheel mismatched, and missing mirrors. To me this goes:
    1. INNO64. Great attention to detail, accuracy, you can feel and see the Premium, although it's not perfect, it's the best IMO.
    2. MINI GT. Good detail for good price, but that front is ugly and not as accurate as it should be, these was one of their first castings so I get why it is like this. Still very decent.
    3. Kyosho/Tarmac Works. This is basically a Kyosho casting, they are kind of old so it could be considered outdated, that's why it looks like that. I'm aware Kyosho has some really good models, but some are also lacking, this GT-R is lacking.
    4. Hot Wheels. No surprise here, they use a $1 USD casting after all, you shouldn't expect accuracy or a ton of details from a HW, but it is still a good Hot Wheels! The livery is well done, they did the best with what they had. For $5 USD original price, sure! For $25 USD resale absolutely unthinkable and not worth it.

      @@musek5048 PGM is the top brand on diecast, nothing comes close to it. It is expensive yes, but once you have it in your hands you realize it's worth it.
      INNO64, for the price range, is one of the top brands as well. Other similar brands I'd recommend are LCD Models (Pagani, McLaren, Toyota, Honda), Hobby Japan (JDM cars), TPC (although unlicensed, they have good models). I should also mention Tomica Limited Vintage (TLV), their models are great but most of them are also stupid expensive.

      @@eefm99 so would you say there's not much in between inno and pgm? i've seen a newer company called focal horizon but their best models seem to be the r34 gtr's with opening hoods only. i'm leaning towards inno64 as a starting point since they're cheaper but still seem quality but then at the same time i'm tempted to just spend the extra for a pgm with opening parts, just wish they had more variety of cars to choose from like inno64. I'm a sucker for small details though like brake discs and what not so other brands like minigt or tarmac fall short of that even though their models still look pretty good.

    • @eefm99
      @eefm99 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@musek5048 No no, PGM is still at the top, it's unbeatable, only resin models are better (but you lose the moving parts); what I said was that INNO64 is one of the top brands at its price range ($20-$26), but can't compete with PGM.
      Focal Horizon uses TimeMicro's castings. Their models are okay, but the gap they have around the hood is too big, and the wheels are not very refined, also it's not licensed (mentioning this since some people care about this topic).
      If you're interested in R34's, I'd recommend you to save and buy the PGM, it currently has 2 color variants with some more coming next year, it's the best one out there, for other models, go for INNO64.
      I have around 50 INNO64 in my growing collection, and let me tell you they rarely disappoint.

  • @R26Roman
    @R26Roman ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I look back at this video now and although there are better brands that represent the more accurate details, hot wheels stays afloat because it can play both sides of collecting. What I mean by that is it's a toy that toy collectors can enjoy. Nostalgia is what runs toy collecting but also hot wheels has models that certain brands haven't released yet or never will. Using both tactics, Hot Wheels is able to stay ahead of a competition. Not to mention all the other explanations made by you at the end of the video. Great job once again man.

    • @eefm99
      @eefm99 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You mentioned some keywords here, "toy collecting", it is true that most people that are into Hot Wheels are there because of the toy part, they care about the brand and all the history that's behind the name.
      However, there's the other sector that's more into "car model collecting", and these people are a lot more about the accuracy and details more than the nostalgia and how well it rolls or not.
      It all depends on which side you're on, but both sides should be respected.

    • @R26Roman
      @R26Roman ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eefm99 exactly, it's amazing how hot wheels in recent years changed it's model from just a toy company and is trying to associate itself with car culture. I wouldn't be surprised if hot wheels went a step further and tried sponsoring race teams 😂. Anyone who gets into diecast start with hot wheels first and that's all Mattel needs to get a foot through the door of potential buyers. After that hot wheels tries to offer the best experience for accuracy but given how some hw models go up in price, also keeps the more expensive models accurate somewhat. These usually go for more money on the second market and Mattel knows this

    A die cast car's value is only relevant to the owner. A selling price is only relevant is if somebody buys it. I collect premium race cars only. IXO, TSM, Spark and Looksmart in 1/43. Tarmac Works, Mini GT and in 1/64. I have paid way more than i should have for some and paid way less for others. In 1/64 Tarmac Works, Sparky and last Mini GT. Mini Gt and Sparky i like the least due to purc sloppy work and broken parts.
    As a general rule, the more expensive the car the more detailed and most appealing cars. If you collect1/43 race cars. Looksmart make the best and generally cost 100.00 or more. Spark almost as good for only 50.00. IXO next best in some cases for 20-25.00. TSM Have great expensive cars for 50.00-100.00 and crap for 20.00. Also bear in mind that manufacturer brands are licensed and vary from one to another. I have not yet found any race cars in 1/64 and 1/43 with 4 exact same models. Kudos to you, Diecash for doing so and great video.

      collectors in this hobby are looking for accuracy and details since they'll be placing these on a shelf and not playing with them on a hot wheels track. i can't imagine a parent dropping $20-30 on a toy car for their kid to smash into a wall at home, so hot wheels are a great brand for that market. also makes for a great starting point for that kid to appreciate cars as they grow up.
