    The troubleshooting in this video was thorough and started with the most common, minor issues first instead of jumping into analyzing the dishwasher parts. Awesome and practical. Thank you!

    Wayne, thank you so much for your help and step-by-step guidance. My young son and I just moved into our new home. I freaked out when my fully loaded dishwasher would not start. Thanks to your video we determined it was #2. My son yelled, "Mom, it wasnt plugged in all the way. Try it now!" And low and behold, the dishwasher started. Thanks Wayne and Sears for looking out for families. 👍🤗👏

    I had a power surge yesterday, and today, the dishwasher wasn't showing any power. I checked the circuit breaker and turned it on and off. I checked the power cord and it was firmly plugged in; however, I pulled out the plug and plugged it back in anyway. Unplugging it reset the dishwasher. It's working now! Yay!!!

    Thank you. It was not any of the points that were mentioned but it gave me a method to debug. For me it was the switch that is turned on, by being pressed inward by the latch ( the latch that locks the dishwasher). This is an old model. I am impressed how long this has been running. The housing of the switch broke off from the inner panel. I taped the housing ( of the switch ) with duct tape after making sure it is lined with with the latch. Now it works.

    Hahah, within 29 seconds you helped me out. I just moved into this house from another one and it has a switch above it that turns it on or off. It was off and I couldn't find out why the dishwasher wasn't getting power. My dishwasher at my old house didn't have a switch.

    I was about ready to open up the control panel to change fuses like the other videos and then this fine man tells me to check the switch on the wall which was off. I felt like an idiot but he save me a lot of time and energy thank you

  • @Jake-wk9mh
    @Jake-wk9mh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The plug-in under the sink was sticking out about a centimeter, and was likely knocked loose by the weight attached to the spray hose attachment, since it comes into contact with the dishwasher power cord. Never knew they plugged in under the sink! Thanks for the tips!

    My issue was the door switch not making up when I closed the door. At 2:11 minutes into this video, he talks about the user interface control wire harness. This is where I found my problem. There are several videos on TH-cam that show replacing a fuse in this harness/control panel. My fuse was okay but the door switch is inline just before the fuse. The door switch was okay but had become misaligned to the point to where it wasn't doing its job. Just going through the process of taking things apart and putting them back together, I tightened and realigned everything and when done I had been successful in restoring power to the control panel and was back in business. Lucky me. 😃

    If you had a problem with the vent cap on the door falling off then your problem is likely the user interface board inside the door. My cap kept falling off and allowed steam/moisture in the door and fried the board.

    • @Richiban40
      @Richiban40 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      where did you find your thermal fuse? I had a multimeter to test the fuse but could not locate it in the control board area.

    • @Dc423holly
      @Dc423holly 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Richiban40 , if your facing the dishwasher, its in the control board area a bit to the right side of the door . I cant post a photo on here or else I would. If you just enter "dishwasher thermal fuse" into a google search engine, there are plenty of videos on how to find and replace it. I'm a DIY amateur and I found the fuse on mine. The funny thing is that I watched another you-tube video on here and the guy said take the fuse out and bang it against something hard like a concrete floor, or hit it with a hammer... so I tried it and put it back in and it worked just fine! No need to replace it, although I found one on Amazon for $7 so I ordered one for back up just in case.

      Dale Carns I saw the same video and from what I was seeing on my circuit board, there was nothing that resembled a fuse, I’ll check again this week, thanks in advance for tips. I’m dreading to replace this dishwasher!

    • @Dc423holly
      @Dc423holly 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suggest closely following any wires you see because two wires have connectors that slide right onto the fuse. The fuse is about the size of a dime with spade terminals coming right off of it that wires hook to.

    Shouldn’t a repair person, with 43 years experience, know to check to see if your dishwasher even has an electrical switch (as I’m told some dishwashers do and some don’t have that switch)? I just paid $200 to my warranty company to find out that there was a switch for the dishwasher underneath my kitchen sink that was accidentally turned off. I had made a claim for my dishwasher not turning on. So, the repairman comes and checks everything out….doesn’t turn on. Then he hooks up is own electric source and it turns on. So he says it’s not a dishwasher problem, that it is an electrical problem and I need to call an electrician. Ok, so I put a claim in for electrical wiring. In comes the electrician and within 5 minutes she finds the switch underneath my sink and switches it on and boom, dishwasher works! So I had to pay two $100 deductibles to find out that the switch was accidentally turned off. So I called the dishwasher guy and let him know what the electrician found…his response was “in all my 43 years of experience I have never seen a switch for a dishwasher”. So now I’m in negotiations to get reimbursed one of those $100 deductibles.

    you left out the most common solution to the problem. 1.Turn breaker off 2. check Fuse/s with an Ohm meter. (No live voltage check to do so) and what are the odds the wire harness inside the door could possibly get unplugged? Dishwasher gremlins maybe? Bad fuse - call the service technician who will most probably replace the control board ($80-$220 on average)

    Here is a mystery. We had a thunderstorm. Day later the dishwasher won't start. I unplugged the dishwasher cord under the sink and re plugged it. Nothing. I finally flipped the garbage disposal switch to the "on" position. Power came back on to dishwasher!
    Mind you we don't have a garbage disposal. If we did, the garbage disposal would be running all the time while the dishwasher is running for 2.5 hours.... So WHY is the dishwasher now all of a sudden connected to this obsolete garbage disposal switch? The switch was always in the "off" position before.

    • @searspartsdirect
      @searspartsdirect  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a mystery that only an electrician may be able to explain. Many homes have a light switch for the dishwasher beside the light switch for the garbage disposal. Although you assert that the switch was always turned off, there is a possibility that it was in the "on" position. Because the dishwasher now works with that switch in the "on" position, you'll likely be able to continue using the dishwasher and you can ignore the mystery. I hope this helps.
