    Thanks bro, your video is very helpful, just bought 16x32GB RDIMM RAM and I put the RAM on the wrong socket, I put it in socket number 1,3,4,6,7,9,10,12 on both processor.
    But thanks to your explanation, now I know it should be on socket 1,2,4,5,8,9,11,12 on both processor.

    I have bought a dl360p with two e5 2670 32 gb of ram 1866 for like 100 euros and i upggraded to e5 2667 v2 (actually less core than the 2660) its more efficient and it has higher speed for 50 euros and upgraded the ram to 64 gb with another 4x8 1866 ram kit form you

      Steal of a deal. Great find. I'd look at some 600GB or 900GB 10K sas. Fairly cheap these days.

    hi bro... can i mixing ram on this server, 8 and 16 gb

    • @cloudninjas
      @cloudninjas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In general yes. If using 4Rx4 or 4Rx8 then Rank Rule comes into play. All RAM will clock down to lowest speed. How many 8GB and 16GB total? What ranks?

    Looking to expand my DL380P Gen8 storage from 8 to 25. Can you give me some tips on what I need to purchase? Currently running 8 SAS 2.5 600GB

    • @cloudninjas
      @cloudninjas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cost of the expansion kit is the same or more than the cost of buying the 25 Bay Chassis. We'd recommend just buying another chassis and moving the parts over. Good luck!

    Hi, I have a dl360p gen 8 with 5 8gb of ram. I have no idea in what order or slots to install them. That is all the ram I need. I am using both proc's so where do I put these memory modules?
    Thanks,
    Ed

    • @cloudninjas

      We recommend putting them in the start of 5 different memory channels. White is the start of the channel. So would all be white slots. Believe this board would be A1 B1 C1 D1 E1. Please let us know if need anything else. Take care! Smash that subscribe. 😁

    Is it suitable to buy one second hand on these days? I believe this server have not HP support anymore right? Someone is offering me this server with 128GB , 1.8TB and 2 processors. Thanks in advance.

      I'd go with a Gen9 personally or Gen10 if within your budget. Gen8 is a bit old but still a great system. If investing today I'd go a little newer. If maintaining a system I'm use I recommend upgrading RAM and SSDs.

    Hello,
    Can dual ranked memory be mixed with quad ranked memeory? I currently have eight 8GB 2x4 in my dl360pg8. I purchased 8 16GB 4rx4 dimms from you but not sure if These can be mixed or if I need to remove the 8GB dimms? Other than size and rank, they are same spec. Thanks.

    • @cloudninjas
      @cloudninjas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Can be mixed but keep in mind the rank rule. Only 8 ranks per channel. Would need 2 x dual rank and 1 x quad rank per channel. That way you don't go over 8 ranks. Hope that helps! Take care.

    • @cloudninjas
      @cloudninjas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually since 16 dimms total, you would want 1 x 8gb dual rank and 1 x 16gb quad rank per channel. And third slot in channel would be empty. Thank you!

    I have 24 x 4gb currently installed. Planning to remove 12 x 4gb from one side of the CPU slot and upgrade them with 12 x 16gb. Will it work? Can, I still leave other side of the CPU slot with 12 x 4gb?

    • @cloudninjas
      @cloudninjas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it would work. Might be best to make them even on each CPU though. 6 and 6 on each CPU. Best wishes! Smash that subscribe! 😁

    sorry to bug you, but i have 8 x 8gb sticks (64) in all the white slot currently installed, but i brought another 5 x 8gb sticks. do i put them after the whites kinda confused, A2, B2 etc?.. thanks Ive liked and subs

    • @cloudninjas
      @cloudninjas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes yes all the white slots (first slot of channel) then all the blacks. I personally recommend an even balance so you might want to grab some more DIMMs. We sell in sets that equal the channels for a good balance. Example 4, 8, 16, 24. I'd get 3 more DIMMs to have 16... that'd be my recommendation. Appreciate the sub!

    Is this still a viable server in 2021? Or should I just build a pc for my homelab? Is this thing just going to chew threw power?

    • @cloudninjas
      @cloudninjas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All good questions. Yes this is a good homelab server, even in 2021. Not everyone needs the latest and greatest. There are different power supply options so you can go with the lower end PSUs to save on power. Building a PC is also a great option. That's the wonderful part... so many good and fun options to play around with. Heck do both. 😁

    I need to add GPU in this server,
    Please suggest me compatible graphics card.

    • @cloudninjas
      @cloudninjas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have never specifically tested any GPUs in the DL360p G8, but a single-width card that does not require any extra power cables should work. We've found this link that contains some information that you may find useful. github.com/bohnelang/CUDA-on-a-HP-ProLiant-DL360p-G8 According to the link, a GeForce GT 1030 or a Quadro P2000 should work. We hope you find this helpful!
