Just put an R730 LFF into service running Unraid. I want to begin increasing memory for a VM, and was wondering if the two types can be intermixed (RDIMM and LRDIMM). It is currently configured with all slots full at a total of 64g memory. Specifically, since I'm running two cpu's, can one cpu (pinned to the VM) benefit from LRDIMM and thus greater memory? Primary uses are rendering (Davinci Resolve) and Solidworks.

this does not work! I don't have https as an option and dell has removed support for ftp on this server. I download the files but cannot update it from the command prompt. Last effort was to bust out an old xp pc and I can access the iDRAC 7 and when I proceed to update it says fail on every file. .efi, .bin, .exe... everything. Does anyone know how to actually update the r720??????

Scott, Scott, Scott...love your videos and use them all the time to help me "remember" what these Dells can handle CPU/RAM/Drive-wise. BUT: You didn't clean the heatsync! Dude! Clean the heat spreader on the CPU and the heatsync of all paste before reusing it. That's what alcohol/Xylene and a lint-free cloth is for. :) Other than that, I'm a "four corner guy:" Corner screw 1, then 3, then 2, then 4, then back to 1 until the heatsync is fully unscrewed. It's never let me down taking off or putting on. I have three r730xds in my downstairs basement DC thanks you guys and your info. One last tidbit: High power E5-269xV4 take high power power supplies. Might mention that when swapping up on the CPUs.

Please what is the cause of drive failure on hp proliant servers

It doesn't show the create array option, only to change the Smart Array mode (between HBA and RAID modes, I assume). What could be the issue? Thanks.

Thanks for the video. I have a question that you may be able to answer. During bootup my R630 server recognizes my USB mouse and keyboard, but it won't recognize my USB flash drive. I want to install Windows Server and the USB is my only option as the server does not have a DVD drive. I've searched many resources for resolving the issue but I've had no luck. Because the USB drive doesn't display in the Boot Manager, I'm at odds at how to get the OS installed. Have you had issues with trying to install the OS from a USB flash drive?

But now I also want to have GPU in my VMs. Can you please help understand if there are any GPU that can be installed here AND those GPU IS Supported for the GPU Passthrough by the ESXI? (Bonus , and GPU is „possible” to buy now…)
