This is more of a Lucy, Sieg, and Ars problem, the rest was fine. They misunderstood that he had no expectations for them while in fact, he just wanted his kids to do what they want without his influence. Lara knew his intention and loves him, Christina was a daddy's girl since birth, and Lily who simply didnt think much abt it.
Funny enough, this was what happened to Norn, because Rudeus never told her what to do, she thought he had no expectations in her, it served as a contrast to his relationship w Aisha. Inferiority complex runs in the family huh, Rudeus w his past life, Roxy w her body/disability, Sylphy w her hair, n Eris w, well, Rudeus.
in my opinion, Lara treats Rudeus as well as Chris, except that she herself does not like to show emotions and show them to others, which is why many peers could consider her strange and mocked her, however, for example, in volume 19, her affection for Rudeus is very clearly visible when he was about to go to Shiron
I think the problem with their relationship is not the lack of affection, but the inability to translate said affection to closeness, they’re not good at communicating with each other(one has terrible communication techniques and the other is a kid) so whenever they ended up conveying their view on each other in near uncontrolled situation
There also Lara kin is rarely show emotion cause they can share thoughts directly so Lara rarely shown it

2 very different things. A parent who wants to always protect their family does not always hv to be very close to their family.

Lucy misunderstand him not becoz of his work, it is becoz of how Rudy expect from his kid, normal parent would want their kid to become something they(parent) want or think but Rudy knowing the burden of expectation, choose to not say anything about what he think of so that his kid will have a free choice of their own life.
In a way Lucy was correct, Rudy have no expectation for them but it doesn't come from Rudy look down of his kid seeing them as not good enough, it from Rudy wish for them to live freely however they want to live. (His work is also part to blame for this misunderstanding ofc)
On that topic, Lara seem to be only person that figure this misunderstanding out the soonest, it likely thanks to having telepathy and just her being smarter than she look. Lily on the other hand is just completely airhead so it didn't affect her much

Lucy is definitely not dumb as you can see her thought/perspective in chapter on her first day to school, she definitely more mature than her ages suggest, especially as her being the eldest sister, so she definitely smarter than average person as she is very perspective since young age. But her talent is only slightly above average in everything, which normally is good enough but in Rudy family where most people is very talented, cause Lucy end up like Norn where she did develop a light case inferiority complex. which later fuel the misunderstanding and Rudy not home enough to talk to his kid properly.

On Lucy talent case, i said slightly above average coz i was considering only the fighting group of people (which usually fall around intermediate to high rank) for her combat ability, not including all commoner. And when i said talent, i also mean everything else, not just only her combat and magic talent. I view Lucy as more of a jack of all trade level of talent, which mean she is still above average but not actually talented at it so that why "slightly above average".
Imo Chris is like Norn, her talent is only average but she work hard which do make it seem she is slightly above average. But unlike Norn, Chris inherited that Eris attitudes so luckily she didn't develop any inferiority complex like Norn or Lucy

You know why? Ars fought with teeth and blood for his relationship with Aisha (though fair Aisha kind of groomed him), Eris even fought against Ars, ending in Ars' arm being chopped off (was healed later).
At the end Ars was kicked out along with Aisha (they reached an agreement), so Ars would live with Aisha and become a responsible father to learn the consequences of his actions. (Aisha thought Rudeus would force her to abort it and heal her womb with half baked healing magic so she couldn't conceive anymore but of course Rudeus would never do that)
To be honest it is good the author gave the only "seemingly flawless" character a flaw as big as that.
The chapter was kind of weird considering it was the FIRST time Rudeus was the "morality" man, and though he wasn't exactly in the wrong... It was weird coming from the guy who have 3 wives, worships female underwear as divine relics, started a fan club for his own sister, commited kidnapping and sexual assault numerous times.

He works for Orsted to manipulate events around the world, so that Orsted can eventually win against Hitogami
Orsted is giving him missions where the goal is to manipulate events. The purpose is to manipulate the events that will favor them which will happen in the sequel of the story in the far future, when Laplace is revived.
Honesty, no one can blame Aisha.
She couldnt get the one person her mother told her to serve in all possible ways since childhood, so she went for the second best thing, a spicy copy one step removed.
