I feel like I was very late in discovering the series, but I always found talking about the side content interesting with Re:Zero so I just sort of am doing the same with MT now I've read most of it (I'm still reading Old Dragon's Tale). It's such a great series to get into the details with!

Sieg is the new Death God by the end of Jobless Onlige, yes - I just didn't mention it in the video because I didn't think it was necessary to explain who the old Death God was and so on (given anime onlies looking for spoilers won't know any of that) in this video just summarising all the kids' lives.
I'm personally feeling very validated by all this attention it's getting. I originally read the WN years ago before the LN even started, tried to get a few friends to read it and they hated it. I thought it was doomed to being an underappreciated hidden gem, and I'm so glad I was wrong.
Sylphie is only 1/4 elf, making her kids 1/8 elf. I think it was mentioned that Sylphy ages at 3/4 the rate of humans so I don't imagine her kids will live that much longer than humans.
Elf blood will effect there longevity even if it’s only slightly. It affected the mom so by default it should the daughter

No its actually a bit more distant as Silphy is Clives niece making Lucy his grand niece (is that a thing?) and Clive her grand uncle.

I do love how this story is so intricately woven that almost every aspect of it would fall in the "this would fit in it's own video" category, what a great series.
And also EVERY GREYRAT KID would be perfect for their own series! All of the stories would make for a great anime in different genres is so amazing.

Lara/Ars: Adventure (each has different kinds of adventure)
Sieg: Seinen
Lily: Science (it can work in a 'Spice and Wolf' kinda way)
Chris: Shoujo
They could all have their own series, but the one I want to see is Lara getting isekai'd into our world and basically becoming Komi-san.

Special mention: Julie the adopted daughter (or slave if want to be specific) of Zanoba and Rudy.
She is a Dwarf and one of the only people who can use voiceless incantation (mostly on earth magic, since Rudy and Zanoba just wants her to make dolls)

All of Rudeus's children are also proficient in voiceless incantation in several schools of magic
Voiceless magic is basically a standard class for most magical schools for when rudeus to die.
I know everyone loves Sieg's story and would love more from Lara but... Christina, man!
I would love for her story getting its own complete series, complete shoujo manga style! Would be awesome if the author could even just partner up with an experienced shoujo author to adapt that part of the story just like what happened with the Roxy spin-off. A fairly lengthed one-shot would be fine too.

Nah, sometimes they're good. Kumodesu, Tanya the Evil (kinda - I mean it's a dude reincarnated as a little girl), Villainess and various others are good female lead isekai, and from other genres there's stuff like Vivy, 86, The Promised Neverland, Made in Abyss, Madoka Magika... I don't think it makes any difference to how boring or interesting a show is, I just think when it has a female lead it needs to be because that's a good character, not just to have a female lead.
One thing about one of Rudeus' great-Grandchildren,Ars's granddaughter, is she is a virtual clone of Eris in looks. So much so that an Elderly Rudeus thought he had gone back in time when he sees her on his death bed.
Isn't she called Ferris, as well? I can't really remember off the top of my head but there is one called Ferris. Which is obviously very close in sound to Eris.

I think if they do a sequel Lara would have done her own journey already and focus more as a mentor/veteran to the protagonist kind of like Ruijerd. Revealing bits of her own journey in flashbacks and stories for the protagonist.
Wasn’t it implied that a more generic isekai protagonist would be summoned? Either Silents boyfriend or best friend?
I always imagined that Lara would become the mentor of that boy.
It’s also kinda funny how Rudeus is basically that character that exists in every fantasy lore, who has done and has had connections to everyone.
Which led me to think that it would be cool if that Isekai protag would become infatuated with the idea of Rudy and a desire to reach his impossible heights.
Might even be what leads to him seeking out Lara for mentorship.
@@frankwest5388 actually how it ends with silent’s boyfriend being the one summoned he might not be the protagonist or the sequel instead he’ll be added in. Because no matter what happens he is summoned and gets killed a few days later in I think battle or training can’t really remember that bit. So in the new alternative version which will be the sequel it’s either the boyfriend saved by Lara and continues from there or someone else from Rudy’s family tree and they find out about silent’s boyfriend or the time girl.
I do wonder what Sylphy and Roxy will do, during their remaining life-span, when Eris and Rudeus have past away?
The final chapters of the Web Novel have a Biography on Rudeus Greyrat and have a list of the people he was closest to, Roxy ended up as the Director of the Ranoa Magic University, Sylphy had a quiet life.
Slyphy probably won't live that long because she's 1/4 elf and was already in her mid 40s when Rudeus died

She could live about 100-120 years. I can't remember the timeline given for the reincarnation of Silent Seven Star's friend.
But it is at least implied that Sylphy and Roxy will meet him.
It's going to be tough moving on from Rudeus's story onto his children because he's my most favorite character, I'm not sure if I'll like his children. Hoping they do continue with sequels about his children and gets an animation. Not only that but the connections Rudy made should allow him to be reincarnated or something.
I am a bit sadden hearing that Lara will introduce a boy to Sylphy and Roxy only due to the Eris and Rudeus being human only and will die of old age. Most of the anime/manga I've read never made me experience a character dying of old age, especially if it's a protagonist.
Ngl, hearing he died of old age and leaved his two wives behind dued to old age, i wish Rudeus become a Human-God at the end of the series since Human-God can be replace as when the current Human-God killed the Old Human-God.

About green hair, I have a theory that the fear of it predates the Superds - If you read old dragon's tale, some people of the dragon race already hated Laplace's green hair

Yeah, I'd heard of that (though I'm only reading Old Dragon's Tale right now so I guess I heard of it from someone who'd read it). It's pretty interesting, and like you say, similar to the 'fantasy racism' in Re:Zero.
I think the main reason people fear it is because Laplace is prophesied to reincarnate sometime in the future. So seeing children born with green hair is seen as a bad omen.
Well Humans and Demons are polar opposites in MT so their God and his features are bound to be hated. Also I think that it's explained somewhere that the green hair hatred of Sperd comes from Laplace transfering his own curse similar to Orsted to the sperds.

Yeah OP is talking about Laplace's backstory in Old Dragon's Tale - when Laplace is first found as a child and brought to the Dragon world, they are already wary of him because green hair is already taboo. Laplace himself hasn't done anything yet, he has just been living in a cave killing monsters for food, so he isn't the reason people feared green hair at that time.
I love what you're doing with Mushoku Tensei. One of the firsts and few youtubers to cover it extensively and thoroughly.
I do really wish for a sequel though. The author has pretty much proved his competency with the main series and the acclaim it's currently getting, so I'm confident he can pull it off, especially with the amount of potential set-ups he established...
While I did get closure regarding Rudeus' story, the author hooked me again with Rudeus' children. And now, I just want to see a sequel series concerning their adventure and struggles, especially Lara's. I'm just too invested to stop myself from wanting it lmao

this world building and plot is so FREAKING good it’s legit such a GOOD ISEKAI LIKE OWOWW a story that goes passed the main character and has its own branches AHH ITS SO GOOD
So glad you covered this. I honestly am a sucker for stories which specify what the "happily ever after" for the protagonist means (should they get one) and shows them not only having kids, but being a parent and seeing them as a parent from the kids POV.
What I personally think might happen is that all of Rudy's kids will be more significant to the final battle, though some of the indirectly. I very much suspect Christina's descendants end up ruling Asura and will therefore have a connection to Perugius, while Lucy and Clive are bound to have some influence over Millis by the time Laplace is reborn. Lara and Lily are magical researchers aside from Lara having DESTINY (Witcher flashbacks ensue), and I imagine at least one of them will try to build up on Nanahoshi's research, which seems like it's going to be crucial for Orsted's final battle. Sieg, however, I think will be almost as important as Lara, what with becoming the new Death God and having a really strong Laplace factor (although maybe that's favoritism speaking, since he is my favourite sibling). Ars' descendants are the wild card who could potentially fill any role. Overall, when the time comes to muster both armies and heroes, the Greyrats will be leading a sizeable chunk of both of those.
For your next topic, I would actually love for you to cover Laplace and the Demon Wars, and more specifically have something of a crossover episode where you discuss how Laplace's true history and status could be a hint towards Satella's true history and status in Re:Zero. I had given it a lot of thought before, but since we know there was a lot of idea-swapping between Tappei and Maganote, and since Laplace and Satella are already so simmilar, I think a comparison video is an obvious and interesting topic.
I actually think the Satella of this story is the time reversing Miko at the end...
I'll definitely do a Laplace video, but I need to finish Old Dragon's Tale first (reading that rn).
I think you should have gone into more detail about Lucy's personality and though process regarding her attitude towards Rudeus and her siblings. This includes her complex (has aspects of inferiority complex, but its something different I don't know what to call).
This is just what I remember from the top of my head, I'm not gonna read back to solidify this comment so just take it as it is.
Lucy had this complex where she thought that Rudues never expected anything of her and the other children. Its this mentality where anything they do doesn't matter, whether they achieve something great or if they mess up bad, that Rudeus, being something like a legend, having such talent, power and influence, didn't think too hard about what his children accomplished. In Lucy's head, this was why Rudeus didn't really scold them as much as their mothers did. In reality, Rudeus just wanted to dote on this children since he was away so much, causing him to be unintentionally distant towards them, as he is always putting up a front for them to respect him (which they do).
With how influential Rudues is, she thought someone normal like her was not someone worth expecting anything of, and I believe she taught this mentality to her other siblings as well. I take this from the fact that during jobless oblige, there is a moment where Sieg thinks back on something Lucy told him about Rudeus not expecting anything of them, and in his situation, he starts to agree with it, having thoughts along the lines of "am I just air to you?" when facing his father. This tells me that this is a point that Lucy had made clear to Sieg, so it wouldn't be strange that she taught it to her other kids as well. We see that Lara never actually agreed with this and actually new Rudeus' true nature as a father the whole time thinking something like "it took you long enough to realize" when Sieg finally opened his heart to Rudeus. I don't know how Lily and Ars felt about Rudeus and Christina just simped for Rudeus the majority of the time so I can't be sure of how much Lucy had influenced her siblings in this reguard. I do remember at some point (I think in oblige) the mention that none of the children would come to Rudeus to talk about their problems, or talk about how their day was (with the exception of Christina, plus Lara always understood Rudeus so often took advantage of him by asking for random expensive items for her own gain, though in one Redundancy chapter it was shown that even Lara could enjoy being pampered by Rudeus). This makes it more likely that Lucy really did teach her siblings these negative things regarding Rudeus.
There is also something mentioned like even Lucy didn't understand Rudeus untill asking to marry Clive. It seems something went down where Rudeus at some point had a heart to heart with Lucy and Lucy finally understood Rudeus and opened up to him just like Sieg did (she did this before the events of Oblige when Sieg does the same thing).
I don't know if you did but I don't remember hearing it but I think it would have been good to talk about the Lucy and Papa segment from Redundancy. There is a whole chapter there from the perspective of Lucy when she was 7 (I think) when she is just about to start attending the Magic Academy. What I remember is her talking about her complex again (I don't know what to call this complex, but the closest I can think of is an inferiority complex, but I think inferiority is just a part of the complex as a whole), and also how she actually wants to do her best in all aspects (study, magic, swordsmanship) to get Rudeus to acknowledge her (or something along those lines).

I think if I do a whole video about Lucy I will go into that stuff, but I didn't really include the details of the heart to hearts with Sieg or other characters either - to cover all six of them (well, 5 and a half really as I didn't go into any depth for Ars where I already made a video about that chapter) I just stuck to what happens in their lives and some observations about how they might fit in to the future of the story. You're right though, that stuff is interesting, and does also tie in to the other kids also thinking about Rudeus' lack of expectations for them. It may be something to talk about more in terms of Rudeus' approach to parenting with Lucy as one of the most detailed examples. We see him as a good dad, but the impact he has on his different children is never 'perfect', which is obviously much better for a story like this than if he truly had become a Mary Sue perfect father by the end of the story.

I've been enjoying people making videos about Mushoku Tensei over the past few months. I am glad that other people thinks that this series is something really special. The first cour really got me into reading the web novel non stop from start to finish and it really got me reading other things like the re:zero web novel for example.
When thinking what the sequel could be about or who would be the main character, I had initially thought that maybe Laura would be the one as she is the "chosen one". After some thought and watching this video, I am leaning towards two things: either the guy that Laura is looking for will be the main character (either Laura's husband or bestfriend or companion) or someone who is from maybe the divine continent or someone from another world that got teleported.
Regardless, I am very hopeful that the author will start the sequel eventually. I read that he is still working on Orc Hero but I have no idea how far he is on that series.
Keep up the good work on Mushoku Tensei stuff. I will be anticipating your videos in the future. (Ive been watching other videos of yours for it and re:zero for a while now but consider me officially subscribe.)

I don't think it would just be Sieg. Remember the last conversation between Rudeus and Hitogami before Rudeus passes on of old age? Hitogami made it abundantly clear he'd be doing whatever he could to cause infighting in Rudeus's family. Since they are the key to his downfall.
Of course, we can assume that ultimately some of his descendants will end up on opposing sides. Not even because of Hitogami, but just because of the nature of allegiances. Christina and her kids will be aligned with Asura. Lucy and her family will be aligned with Milis. Sieg serves Pax Jr's nation.
The only characters who we know for sure will be Orsted's allies are Lara, and one of Eris's descendants who follows in her footsteps (Rudeus sees a red haired swordswoman by his side - probably from Ars's side). Lily likely will be helping in a supportive role, given that she will also live a long time.

Remember that time Rudeus told Sieg "I will do everything for my Family even if it's against the world" There are many "theories" about this. also Laplace named Perugius and Perugius named Sieg. Perugius sealed/killed Laplace and I think Sieg is gonna kill Perugius Laplace just for the sweet sweet poetry of this amazing novel

One thing to add about Lily is that she ends up inheriting most of Rudeus' research and study.
I would very much like to read a dedicated chapter of Rudeus' direct disciples featuring Juliet and Lily; written like a non-fiction of about these great historic scientists, that led to the development of their modern era, in the possible sequel.
I mean, Rudeus and company's influence on the world sorta sets up for a possible industrial revolution happening. I can see Lily finally making it happen.

Mushoku Tensei is one of those series that has been in my radar for years… always just outside the ‘realm’ or “this is next”. I can’t say if it was the initial character introduction in the manga…. Or the desc, but I put it off endlessly until a couple years ago.
While I’ve read the manga, and watched the anime a couple times… your video here has me titillated enough I might find myself delving into the novel. That said, my library has a great many books ahead of it (thanks j-novel). Bookworms galore! Lol. Pun intended.
One of the nice things I like about mushoku tensei is we can know that our MC doesn’t always push the love interests off “because reason”, instead we see a glimpse of the future with vids like this one. You gave just enough to light that small ember enough that the LN interests me enough to maybe start reading it finally…
It's been a month, how's it gone? The world in Mushoku Tensei is genuinely the best I've seen in anime and the novels prove that. I finished the web novel 2 days ago and the story was on par with Stein's Gate and Clannad (my two favorite anime)
Rudeus is definitely a S-tier protagonist who I think was perfect for the setting of this world. If you haven't yet, please read the novels, you won't be disappointed!

I don't think it will be either of them - I think it will be another isekai'd character (he is explained in my video about the mass teleportation incident if you want to know more about that).

I love this series very much. I'm caught up on the anime and manga, but I don't plan on reading the novel because I'm not a novel person. But listening to this video and other spolers hype me up for the upcoming chapters and episodes of the manga and anime. It might take a while, but I hope the whole novel gets animated. In addition, I think it would be interesting to have different stories of each of Rudeus's children; which will probably look like Fate because of all the different series.
Pauls death caused the roxy x rudy, future rudeus caused eris x rudy , zenith comatose state but shes aware of whats happening around her she gained an ability where she can read thoughts even thoughts of animals, rudy has enterd the 7 ranked powers as a magic god(quagmire) hitogami betrays rudy due to lara’s existence from roxy x rudy , rudy is now considered a hero , rudy is op but balanced , original rudeus failed and had to rewind time due to hitogami’s betrayal

I think a lot of Rudy's children have a sense of inferiority compared to their father. A man who can use chant-less magic, something thought impossible, a man who stood his ground against the dragon god, a man who caused an artistic/magic revolution. There's a lot of expectations with so many achievements. Rudy's children (mostly sieg) misinterpret Rudy as an uncaring father who expects nothing from him when the truth is far from it. He loves his children, he would be willing to fight Perugius if it came to it. It's not the Rudy expects his children to carry the Greyrat legacy, he just wants them to be happy
Yeah. I honestly find it really sad too cause Rudeus would sacrifice everything for his families safety and genuinely wants them to live their best life and I honestly find it really Ironic when it comes to Sieg cause he genuinely seems like he could have been a daddy’s boy if he just find out earlier that Rudeus had no high expectations for him cause out of all the kids apart from Christina he seems the most closest’s to him.
Great video and interesting subject. I do wish that we will eventually get a sequel or spin of to this series since has amazing world and characters

Yeah, I was thinking it'd have the accent if it was pronounced that way, but it's years since I spoke any French (I speak Italian now and there you always pronounce the 'e' on the end of things the way you suggested, so I think it all just gets confusing when you have a few languanges competing in your brain for how something should sound!).

Yeah, accents aren't used at all in English (technically they would be for loanwords like 'cliche', but because English keyboards don't have a key for them and nobody can be bothered to insert the character just to type a single occasional word like that, people tend to just never drop them altogether when writing in English. I have an Italian keyboard because I live in Italy and it does have keys like è é etc, but I never use them in English...).

Yeah as much as I love Naruto I really didn’t like that they made his son hate him for literally the most dumbest reason especially when he knows that his dad is the freaking Hokage so of course he wouldn’t have time to be at home that much and his usually always in the village too unless something urgent has happened.
Rudues usually goes on business trips or missions that are in completely different continents so he may not be home for a long time and you don’t see his kids hating him for it which honestly gives Boruto no excuse to complain at all.
It's kinda funny, but I actually figured out Lara was the chosen hero when Leo went right to her, despite Roxy being "in his way". I always get a chuckle remembering that scene.
Yeah I did too - it was really funny though. Poor Roxy!
One thing to mention is that Sieg throw his Greyrat name, and probably become an opposing faction to the world. Much like what hitogami want.

I always liked Rudeus and his childrens relationship or at least how it’s implied to be.
With the wife’s being the strict parents and him just wanting to dote on his kids and never get angry at them.
Which leads the children to believe that he doesn’t take them seriously and expects little of them.
Which all comes to a conclusion when Rudeus pretends to be a villain for his son to fight. Because he believes that his son wishes to be a super hero.
And then after a heart to heart it is revealed that all Rudeus ever wanted of his children, was for them to be happy and proud.
I think that is just simply adorable.

If it's not her then 98% that position is gonna belongs to that guy Shinohara Akihito. But seriously I don't want this bc it'd be cliché if there was another typical isekai protagonist. I don't want Rudeus' effort to go to another nameless person. Plus, if he was supposed to be OP, there had to be a good reason behind it, you know... However, if the author intended to make that guy the protagonist, it'd be okay, I just hope it's not him.
I hope it is him - because he's completely different to Rudeus in that he's summoned rather than reincarnated, so will have all of the problems Nanahoshi did and will not be able to use magic and become OP that way, so he will be more like a Subaru type of deal, and it would be interesting to see someone like that in that setting. I think he's who Lara is looking for, and Nanahoshi will still be alive, so I don't think he'll feel unconnected to Rudeus or like a new random isekai guy.

If it's not her, I think Akihito as the protagonist is acceptable too. Like, we don't have many choices besides these two characters, do we? But if I have to choose who I prefer to be our new protagonist, that'd be Lara. One reason is bc we have Rudeus as isekai protagonist, so I want something new this time. I've never seen any isekai boys lose the protagonist title so it'd be nice if the author broke this typical path. We saw him broke it by letting Rudeus died of old age.
Another suitable choice is having both as MCs, that's fine too. Akihito would be great as a narrator type of MC, but Lara should be the one who moves the plot forward and defeats Hitogami. Seriously Hitogami fears Lara than anyone else, and defeating the main antagonist should be the Chosen One's job, while the main comrade just does the supporting role. But of course both are equally important to the plot, they just have different roles, like who is the center of all events in the world and then solves it, and who is affected by these but just tells the story, similar to 2 MCs in Vanitas no Carte, or Natsu and Lucy in FT.
Well, the way I see it going is a similar dynamic to Subaru and Emilia in Re:Zero (Re:Zero being clearly a big influence of the whole concepts going on with Prologue Zero, as confirmed by Magonote, who is friends with Tappei so probably knows more about what the underlying stuff in Re:Zero is going to be), so, in Re:Zero Subaru is the protagonist but Emilia is the main character. So, you'd have Akihito as the summoned isekai protagonist, and Lara as the one who the whole story is kind of converging around.

I actually did do some WN readings for Re:Zero but I deleted them just to be safe when I started getting copyright strikes from Kadokawa (which was happening to all Re:Zero TH-camrs), and hadn't thought about doing them for MT because of that... Yes, the WN is unlicensed so it should be OK, but I still feel a bit worried about doing them.

I think Lilly will get the house since she's the only one who stayed in Ranoa due to her work. Don't forget that the family also got another house/mansion in the Asura capital (given by Queen Ariel) that will probably go to Ars. Christina wouldn't care since she'll become the Queen of Asura.

i am constantly crying when i hear these summaries.
We literally watched rudeus growing up, (even if he was and adult from the beginn with) making friends and family. We went trough all of his losses, we felt what he felt and many more. Then hearing about this.. its beautiful but also a bit sad. The story of rudeus was just a tiny portion of the world, his story wasnt even meant to happen, it was a accident.. Now he has children who will grow up and go their own adventures, while our Rudeus story is closed, it took an end. Him dying and leaving behind a prophet, his other children and also his two wifes while meeting his third in the afterlife.... Sadly he wasnt from a long living race.
lets close the book of Rudeus, the man who made the setup for a future protagonist who will appear sometime in the future.

Perhaps I missed it but you never expounded on who you thought the sequel series would primarily follow, you seemed adamant it wouldn’t necessarily be Lara, which may be smoke and mirrors by the author true, but still seems the most obvious choice.
I think the protagonist will be the man Lara is looking for, who I think is the other isekai'd dude (Nanahoshi's boyfriend).
