When a movie makes me so horrified to a point in which I am offended for the treatment of humanity by a heartless killer, I KNOW that’s a movie placed in my list of favorites. House of 1000 corpses, Hostel, The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The original Carrie.
I saw this a few days ago. And really enjoyed it. This is one of the first movies I’ve seen in a bit that’s really stuck with me and the longer I sit and think about it the more I appreciate it I didn’t care for the ending at first but I can respect some of the choices made there. I think I’ll have to change my letterboxd score from a 4 to 4.5 😂
"The last time we got to see Jason on the big screen was that horrible remake we got a couple years ago" I hate to break it to you bud, but that remake was a little more than a couple of years ago.
I think this movie will do well, but $100M? Sadly, I think the type of things that I have heard make this film better than most slasher films will also mean it won't make quite as much as them. A lot of horror fans LIKE jump scares and music, and I think many of them won't have the patience needed for this type of film. (Note: I have NOT seen this movie yet.)
@@Kid7EVEN Yes! That would be great! I'm always looking for constructive criticism to get better. I have no background in movie making besides watch movies. No editing classes lol nothing but it's something I fell into after recording airsoft video's. I hope you like it and please if you have any advice it would be much appreciated 😊
This movie blew me away. My imagination made a way more graphic and visceral picture than what the movie actual gives you. The kills are gruesome but not torturous which I can't stand. I was extremely worried about the log splitting scene but even that was executed in a way that was surprisingly digestible for me. And that ending, I don't think, truly, a horror movie ending has ever had me on the edge of my seat like this one did. The way it conveys the feeling of trauma is just unbelievable. So glad I took the risk and saw this in theaters. Will definitely be purchasing a hard copy when released. Bravo🤘
I haven’t even seen the movie but I just saw the trailer and your review is exactly what I thought, so I won’t be seeing it 😂 I love Friday, the 13th . I don’t need to see a remake
The movie started off good, the stupidity and unrealistic character choices made me hate the movie by the end. While I sat there yelling, "WHAT THE F0_0K!" By the end of the Movie. I was not genuinely scared at all while watching this movie. I was entertained by the gore though.
It's not doing well because word of mouth is that it's boring as shit. It may be beautiful and gory but it looks completely uninteresting. I'm not supporting it because I don't feel like watching an hour and a half walking simulator.
The only reason people wont support it is it isnt made for the modern adhd idiots that need constant stimulation. The amount of scenes of johnny just walking will have them reaching for their phones. Only the purist horror fans will love this for what it is. A real look at friday the 13th from jasons perspective. Something ive always wanted. It goes hard on the kills in a main stream movie industry thats gone soft. You see the latest evil dead rise? After watching the 2009 remake and all its glorious brutality, how could they go so soft on rise? One of the biggest let downs ever for me. This movie however, has that brutality in spades and im here for it. Next up, terrifier 3! Cmon santa Art!
I do not understand the insanely, exuberant hyping of this movie. Even the ‘big yoga kll” was comical to the point of being more like a parody of horror movie violence. He punches a hole through her like Gandhi II from the movie UHF after she pauses to consider the risks of running down a 45 degree decline
Damn, awesome review. Summed it up perfectly. I really enjoyed this movie. I think despite the gorey killings, it had a phycological twist. Something about the slow, methodical, almost machine like steps, followed by human/ animal like killing, really had me on the edge of my seat. Unlike most of the others in my theatre, I think the slow progression actually helped set the physiological stage. Anyways, as said before, great review.
This movie is not well written. The actual dialogue that happens, especially around the campfire, is very bad. No different than any low budget slasher from the 80's or 90's. To quote you, "cringy." Cinematography and practical effects were excellent, but you absolutely cannot say it was well written.
Trash of a movie. All it was was a film shot as if it was a video game…third person, over the shoulder. Aside from that, painfully slow scenes, unrealistic reactions to impending death, one annoyingly long round robin scene, a pointless car ride conversation, and a poop of an ending.
How are u going to say this movie is original,it’s literally a complete knock off of Jason n this idea is played out.this movie was alright at best.theres literally more walking then anything else.its like playing a gta video game.literally the whole theatre was disappointed when it ended, never seen a reaction like that from a movie from a crowd
Do you realize what you said? You asked why this movie is not getting more crowds. You answered your own question. The people sitting to your left walked out in a killing or horrific scene, and the other guy gagged. It’s because people these days don’t like brutal horror. They cannot handle a movie that has no feelings for human life. People these days want to see a movie with relatable characters, sensitive heartwarming scenes that EXPLAIN about feelings, address human emotions, and EVERYONE gets along and love each other in a diverse cast. I LOVE HORROR! I love a movie that is offensive and makes me gag. But soft, modern society will cancel it!
@@gbear2253It’s really unique but like you said with modern society? I really hope it does well so we can actually get decent creative ideas like this one
@@Kid7EVEN me too 🙁!! Believe me, there are several movies that I WISH received more credit. Brilliant actors. Unknown actors with tremendous talent, making me feel as if the horror is real. I really feel that GREAT movies need to get much more support. Just because you mentioned it, I’m GOING to watch this in theatre with my horror fan fam LOL
This looks great I fear I missed it in the theaters. I would disagree Jason vorhees and Michael meters are the dumbest shallowest genuinely stupidest horror characters of all time. Not even scary for 12 year olds. Not even one dimensional. I hope this is better.
It's not surprising that younger audiences will hate this because you guys's idea of horror it's just lots of blood guts and violence. You don't appreciate the uncomfortableness of the stocking of the predatory nature of what an animal is. This movie combines the fact that reminds people we are animals. John Carpenter would be proud of a movie like this just like Wes craven. This is horror this is what horror is supposed to be not just go vomit gross but more than anything and unsettling feeling that builds up from just the darkness and something being their haunting you is what we get out of ghost stories. You don't understand what you're saying and doing because you're too young to appreciate it
Instant sub. Feels like I'm watching Ralph from back in the good old days.
as in ralph the movie maker?? THE GOAT???
I loved it. I hope we get a part 2.

hopefully 🙏

Yea a few moments were pretty stupid but i at least felt interested by whatever the filmmaker wanted to say with the ending
yea, very true but possibly done to add the cheesy effect of slasher movies you know? like a little irony to it
