20 years ago when it was built the North Face trail was quite entertaining and fun. These days, now we're used to the winch and plummet style trails elsewhere in the UK and world it's a bit boring and old fashioned. I'd like to see the local trail organisation push for an update and new, longer descents be routed into the area.
@@blueleaf04 Yeah, I don’t think anything has changed on that trail since it was built. Well, apart from the forestry teams removing the fallen trees after the storms. The place definitely needs a refresh and complete update.
You'd think it would be worth their while to build some new trails with interesting features. Especially when you look at what Bike Park Wales has and the number of people that pulls in. They must get loads of revenue from the passes, cafe, uplift and coaching. It really feels like a wasted opportunity. It's a huge area with great terrain.
@@Allsystemsaredown 100% correct. Updating the style of trails would help with footfall (tyre in this case). I guess Grizedale isn’t as steep as BPW but surely it could be expanded to make trails that last 3 or 4 minutes. Possibly even an official link to Whinlatter would improve the overall experience in the area.
Theres a whole lot of trails in Grizedale that aren't TNF, and are full on winch/terror plummet. And I do mean terror. Some of the hardest tech stuff I've tried, especially in the wet.
Feel your pain! Had a mechanical the other day on me wheelbarrow! Was going along in the van, heard this massive bang from the back! normally can identify the mystery noise? Opened up the back to find the tyre had blown ! The beans only diet is what I use to be able to afford essential non essentials like bike stuff and barrow wheels, flatulence being the only downside👍
What’s causing me to break wheels is the coil shock. With it having no ramp up, on big hits all the energy goes straight into the wheel. May go back to air
@@TrailFindernew rock shock MY23 coil has a hydraulic bottom out. Great coil. Looks like yours in the older rockshox. I also upgraded from that to the MY23 and would recommend.
@@andrewleighton472 thanks for the tip mate. Love the coil and don’t want to go back to air. My weight should be 500lb spring. I’ve got a 600 one on. But huge hits it just blows straight through, resulting in 2 carbon wheels destroyed!! I will defo take a look at that thanks
@@TrailFinder haha glad to hear it 🏀🏀 . I did a similar route there last September so now i want to head back up and use your route . Grandad, dad , dentist is always a superb descent 👌🏼
Chin up fella .. it must be the area .. Im a Garmin missing from a ride on Parkamoor , also did a new tire and then had to cut the weekend short as my wife needed me home as she was ill. Add to that half way down Walna on the same ride I went otb and damaged my wrist ... Stay int Dales its safer .
@@docspuddin problem is the coil shock Steve. I’ve smashed 2 wheels now. With there not been any ramp up at the end of the travel like an air shock. Gutted for ya pal! Nice wheels them sixth element ones arnt they, ive had a few sets myself, sixth element arnt doing them anymore tho your right, but ive just ordered some of the exact same wheels from a company called light bicycle, ive had purple hope pro 4 hubs on them.cheaper than sixth element too! I think this company supplied sixth element with the rims. Just thought id let ya know incase you were wanting some more 👍🏼 love the vids by the way 👍🏼
Was it not your camera or chin guard (if a full face) which hit the garmin? Probably better with an out front one. I ran mine on the top tube briefly right behind the stem but would hit it with my knees
Don't give up pal just a bad day at the office!! Another great ride though, one question - On a ride of this length with so many climbs, what's your eating plane Pre, during and post ride?! Ta
I was just sulking mate, not giving up just yet 🤣. You maybe disappointed with me here. But it’s McDonald’s breakfast on the way. Jelly babies during. And maybe McDonald’s again of Burger King on the way home 😋
The drops not to bad. It’s the coil shock that’s the problem. With no ramp up at the end. It blows through its travel, and all the energy goes through the wheel . Glad I’ve only 1 bike to maintain. Like you said. Costs a fortune does MTB 🤣

Andy if you look at 1.49 of your video there is something not right with your drivetrain chain looks very slack and the derailleur doesn't look right eather maybe why you have gear issues

Giving it a branded name makes it sound like there’s regular investment in its enjoyability… but once you’re on it, nope

I've got Nobby Nic's on a retro Orange Clockwork I use for gravelly riding. They roll so fast!
I use them for everything. They performed amazingly in the alps at morzine
Bloody hell! That’s one hell of a day that! Hope your Ghoolies are better!
Fingers crossed the repairs aren’t too bad!

Had similar tire/rim combination problems myself. I'm going to try the Vittoria tubless insert, see if that helps.

Oh i forgot..FSR gradient wheels are similar too and fairly cheap 👍🏼
Looks like a great ride, can you skip the North Face stuff to cut down the ascent? Doubt I’ll have the legs for 3.6k ft and 24 miles.
Not really. May as well do the north face stuff so keep off the fire roads.

It was the force of the bottom out that did it mate.
Good ride. Can’t believe the tress have been down that long and not been chopped back ! What do you use for navigation mate please ?
The trees down are from the recent double storms we had in just one week. Most were off trail so was lucky

Is the 100cc one up pump with the tool inside
Could feel your frustration 😮
Tell me bout it. Looking back though it was a good day
What a bummer mate, have you sorted out a new wheel now?
Got an alloy nukeproof. Going to just stick with that. And it’s actually lighter
Bloody expensive drop that!
Sure was. Usually hit it no problem. Was slightly off line I think
Once you enter that frame of mind it’s best to put the bike in the van and head to the nearest cafe/pub 😂
Yep you’re right. Wish I had. Although I didn’t moan as much as it looked in the video. Was a good ride really and worth doing
Been pretty lucky with the trees.....😅
A lot down but the trails we did were fine. That last tree pissed me right off though 🤣🤣

Bad language warning "oh, he's going to be swearing at John isn't he"
🤣 it’s usually him. But at my self and the bike this time
Anyone else ducking while watching? 😂😂

Usually wait all the swearing out. But think it needed to be kept in for the story on this one
