I built this a couple of weeks ago. Then the garage got flooded. Just finished it yesterday. I learned so much doing this. Love the way it turned out. Flaws and all. My first build 😊. Thank you!

The first half of the th-cam.com/users/postUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.

I made two of these this week to sit under my windows in my family room. I made one to test my novice woodworking skills and then made a second one using better wood after my confidence grew. I added some wood glue and more screws (less nails) for stability. I also shortened the legs so the height would keep is under my window ledge. This video, while others may not appreciate it, has saved me nearly $600. People complaining because the overall cost is closer to $50 are being extremely petty considering how comparable stands will cost AT LEAST $150 (and MORE if you buy the quality of wood I used that only cost me $60). Thank you, Rehab Life!

Exactly! Console tables are surprisingly expensive!😬 The stain and polyurethane can also be used on other projects. It’s not like you’re only gonna get one use out of them.

I agree. These videos are inspirational. I like the method they use to show the process. If I want to up my novice game and try with pocket screws or use maple, I can do that. I may want a shelf near the bottom and these and their other videos are great for learning.

How do the 2" screws do anything to secure the 2x2" leg board to the shelves? Wouldn't it just barely peek through?

Ignore the small minded people. I have my materials already to build this!!! I like your idea of using screws for more stability.

Just made one this weekend. Took your same designer but substituted the 1×6 for a 1×10. That give me enough room to put my books on the shelves. I also used pocket holes to do all my fastening of the legs. Between that and splurging for redwood for the legs, it turned out very sturdy. Would probably fasten the top with pocket holes if I were to do a similar design again so you dont get any holes in the top. All in all, great video and great design. Thanks!

I love everything ya do, I have all ready created some of your designs, I love them because they are simple, no table saw, no router, no expensive tools needed. Doing these projects bare feet is just another example of how easy they are. My son moved out 2 months ago and I made all his furniture, living rm, bedroom, kitchen table, bathroom cabinet, just using your projects and his friends are so impressed, it looks fabulous and original. Now I gotta make 2 console tables, one for me the other for my son, maybe even one for my mother. Thank you so much for sharing your talents and projects.

Did this table today, I think it came out nice. $30 it did not cost, more like $70, but that's ok, it's still cheaper than the store. Plus I have the satisfaction of building it myself. I would recommend using the screws for the entire project. They make everything feel tighter and a little more solid.

I made a dining table thanks to your video you made a while back. I changed my measurements a bit because I wanted mine a little bigger. My first piece ever! It's not 100% perfect but I love it and have gotten so many compliments from friends and family. Thanks for the inspiration. My next project is this console table and a computer desk! I'm so excited :)

For the folks complaining that the materials cost are not correct and such. Move on! I have been building projects like this, selling them at craft shows for decades and I appreciate that videos like this that give people hope and can get people started learning how to do things. Look at some positives for a change instead of whining about your petty little know it all ideas.

I've done my share of woodworking projects over the years, and had lost interest in them mostly because I ended up overcomplicating things (Too much information on the internet!) and frequently things just didn't turn out how I expected. Saw this recently and it fit a need we had, built it in a day and my woodworking interest feels like it's come back. Your methods are very approachable and I'm super happy with the results. Can't wait to see more!

Your videos are absolutely perfect for anyone who feels overwhelmed by woodworking plans. And intimidated by all the YT woodworking videos that are so far beyond one’s abilities, it seems. I love how you have broken all the steps down and taken the time to show every move. These projects feel attainable. I have a shed full of standard size salvaged lumber and all the screws and nails anyone could want, thanks to my much more able and brilliant spousal unit. I am going to start with a small bench, and who knows? Thank you, and thanks also to your intrepid four legged helper.I have some of those too.

Love this video. I’ve bought all the wood yesterday and am going to try to accomplish this project this weekend. It came out to about $50 in just the lumber, but that is not terrible. Especially since I live in Alaska where everything is significantly more expensive than the lower 48, this project is very affordable and much cheaper than paying a furniture store $800 here for one similar.

Thanks, The Rehab Life for the video. I needed some guidelines for an 8' entry way console that I want to make. The lumber is left over from other projects (as well as the stain, screws, putty) so I will call this my FREE console table. I appreciate your sharing as I needed some fun and a quick walk-through of the process. I am so sorry you have to put up with Chris Parker. Please keep up the good work. And, as you know what he said "It's about credibility and how serious you want people to take you on youtube." PLEASE just be yourself and don't let haters spoil it for us! Thank you!

I was inspired to make this console table due to consoles on the market being so expensive. I have never worked with wood or built anything from wood in my life and thought something like this was only for skilled pros. To my surprise, this was extremely easy to put together based on the simple steps in the video. I am so impressed with results. Honestly, I still cant believe I made something that looks like I purchased at the store! People would never have guessed that I made this.

I built this last night. I was very simple. However, the person at the store did not cut a piece correctly so I have some sanding to do. Other than that, it came out great. I used screws and wood glue just to make sure that everything stays in place. I am going to make the farmhouse table next. Love the videos!!

I spent $76 on everything to include 2 different sand papers, carpenters glue, wood, and wood filler. I already had the stain. I think the price depends on the type of wood you want to purchase.

I think this is a great project! I just think the viewers should know to build it out of properly kiln-dried lumber and also have a more realistic expectation of the material cost. It's impossible to make something with exterior grade lumber that doesn't crack, split or warp overtime. At most Home Depot's or Rona's the stain and finish alone would be $25 after tax.. I'd really like to see a budget breakdown in one of your videos.

    • @clenzyson
      @clenzyson 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

I agree with you Danny M! I went to Home Depot this morning and it would have cost me over 100 dollars to make this DIY project. I guess if I was blonde and pranced around with stretch pants people would believe anything I posted also.

My boyfriend and I are trying this tonight! We had absolutely no supplies at home so total cost of everything (including getting the wood precision cut) ended up being $100. Despite this, the instructions seem clear and easy to follow and we're hoping to get a good sofa table out of this :)

Looks great and the instructions seem clear and simple enough. I'm definitely going to give it a go since I dont have the saw I'll just have the store cut it out for me.

I can totally do this, and it has style! I live in a condo where the mess of cutting would be too much, but these are nice simple cuts I can get at the hardware store. Thanks!

I'd like to see this built using red oak 1X material, pocket holes and glue and more support for the legs. Also with an 1/8" round over using a router on the sharp edges.

This is awesome. I love it. I already finished one TheRehabLife project and this will be the next one! My problem is that I only have a circular saw and the cuts are not that straight. Maybe I will invest in a miter saw.
