- In this video, I discuss the power comparison between Broly and Gogeta in the Dragon Ball Z movies. This has been a debated topic for many years, and gained more attention with the release of the Dragon Ball Super movie a few years ago. However, I also explore the hypothetical scenario of Broly and Gogeta being original characters from the Dragon Ball Z series.

Narrative is most important. Whether you can sell it or not is the question, but fiction can break its rules if they aren't well established, and powerlevels are anything but; usually they're just there to add shock, and hold no actual narrative substance.
The statements themselves shouldn't be the default way of scaling the movies because most of them are as you said inconsistent and are really only made to hype up the movies themselves
Its a no brainer that Gogeta bodies Z Broly. Considering the fact he did the same to Janemba, whose mere existance distorted heaven and hell (each of them the size of the living universe), who also bodied SS3 Goku (eho shook heaven and hell jsut by transforming).

Another thing to keep in mind the concept of "The North, South, East, West Galaxies" isn't just a single galaxy like you said. *The universe of Dragon Ball is divided into 4 sections, those 4 sections are the entire living universe*

Another thing to keep in mind is that Broly never actually destroyed a galaxy, all he did was go from planet to planet wiping out civilizations and destroying one planet after another.... Raditz or Nappa could literally do the same exact thing lol... so it's not an impressive feat in any way whatsoever...

I mean attack potency believe it or not goes to GOGETA *Broly is the one with better speed feats*
You could have brought up that the only reason Broly was brought back for two more movies was because he *lost* in every single appearance. The first movie proves that with enough energy condensed into one attack, you can effectively one shot Broly. The second movie shows that Broly is still affected by an attack's knockback, and a combination of that and the _sun_ is enough to break through his defense. The third movie actually adds an extra weakness, he can now be defeated by plain seawater.
I think Gogeta definitely scales above "Extra Energy Goku" and the Family Kamehameha, simply given Goku's increase in strength over the course of the movies. In the ending of Bio-Broly, it's even implied Goku subdues the afterlife version of Bio-Broly, though that could've been with Pikkon's help. So I think you could've used this information to give your video a more definitive conclusion lol
The movies are considered different timelines and have their own power scaling as stated by Toriyama and the movie directors

Pretty sure Goku in fusion reborn shook the entire afterlife which is basically its own universe. Ssj3 Goku alone in fusion reborn is stomping both Broly and Extra energy Goku.
Fusion Reborn Super Saiyan 3 Goku is easily Ssj God level. So Z Gogeta would scale WAY above Broly.

Cooler didn't move faster than Instant transmision. he was using also instant transmission as Goku stated in the movie(The One that is showed in the film of Cooler that only take you to a different dimension that Shortcuts It).
Even Supersaiyan 3 contained Goku from manga could reach Kaioshin realm as in the anime, which is indeed a greater Feat than the other. He just surpassed Goku speed inside the Instant transmission dimension from the film.

So that’s a clear example of how someone can be faster than instant teleportation. In this case with goku and metal cooler we could use that same argument.

Didn't Koyama recognize he was biased towards Broly? The guy also contradicted himself by saying Buu (who knows which form) had a similar power level to his character, even though he also said Broly would solo everyone. Besides he suggested foes get stronger as the movies go on, and Toei blatantly stated Janemba was the most powerful villain in them. Then Gogeta wiped out Janemba in a few seconds lol

Not a debate at all. SSj3 Gotenks was far more powerful than SSj3 Goku, and while he probably could have won if he had tried properly, Buu was nowhere near the state Gohan left him. Gohan showed up, called him a retard and bet the everliving fuck out of him all while literally just walking and punching without any additional momentum.
Buu then went "Fuck this, this guy is literally going to tear me into microscopic pieces over and over again for fun, I need to absorb more powerful people to fight him." and even then he had to absorb Gotenks out of fear Goten and Trunks separately wouldn't be enough.

I thought it was established the movie verse take place in the same reality, I didn’t know that people thought they were completely separate: I find that hard to believe considering how there is a lot of statements that speak about the characters getting stronger linearly through the z movies and the fusion reborn showing the villains

They're about as closely related as Heroes is to Super. Yes, certain events are shared but there are huge differences with some that can't possibly fit into the canon timeline (ex: Lord Slug, Broly, Fusion Reborn).
@beanking3426 GT is an alternative universe where all of the events from the movies take place due to alterations in the timeline which can easily be marked based off some form of distortion.

It's pretty clear that Gogeta in the fusion reborn movie is far more powerful than Broly in the 8th dragonball Z movie. Goku at super saiyan 3 could beat Broly during the 8th dbz movie. Also, the Cooler feat is due to Cooler also being able to use instant transmission.
Yeah, I never really got this debate. Gogeta completely obliterates Broly. Broly in the first movie was taking on regular Super Saiyans and then got taken out by Super Saiyan Goku having been empowered by everyone's energy. Second movie? Not much different besides fighting Gohan who had no experience in keeping up with his training, thus Broly obviously had the edge. The Family Kamehameha was still just a bunch of Super Saiyans with maybe Gohan being SSJ2? Correct me if I'm wrong on that. Janemba in his perfect form made a joke of SSJ3 and that is far beyond Broly already, much less Gogeta shitstomping Janemba who is leagues beyond anything Broly had in Z for feats.

no the movie timelines are completely different from anime timelines and so is the power scaling, for example when toei made movie 10 they thought gohan had trained the full 7 years and wanked his power to insane heights way higher then the buu threat at the time

The galaxy feat has been highballed to high heaven and is inconsistent with every other feat Broly shows in the movie, Broly in the original movie was about the same level as Super Perfect Cell if not only a little stronger. The galaxy we see is slowly being destroyed over time, not all at once, Broly attacked several planets one by one
In the movie universe instant transmission has goku go into an alternate dimension where time isn't moving or is moving very slowly.
A couple things worth noting are: a lot of these statements are opinion based, although they hold a lot more weight when coming from the creators of the characters and movies.
Also, the Gogeta in Fusion Reborn is at either SSJ or SSJ2...thus, that would implicitly be included in the list of characters that Koiyama thinks Broly is stronger than in that statement. However, given that one of the two fusees Gogeta is made up of (Goku) has access to SSJ3, that means that version of Gogeta has access to that form as well as Kaioken, so if Gogeta couldn't defeat Broly in the form he used in the movie, I think the combination of SSJ3 and a high Kaioken multiplier would be more than enough (as long as Gogeta didn't toy with Broly and finished the job quickly before the fusion expired).
Gogeta is naturally stronger than broly, in broly's last appereance he was weaker than base vegetto, so gogeta has a lot of time before broly catches up

Soul Punisher goes brrrr
Instant Transmission is NOT a speed feat. It's stated in a guidebook that Goku uses this technique (in the movies only) to teleport in an alternate dimension without time/with slowed time to reappear in the normal world somewhere else.
Metal Cooler catching Goku is just him using Instant Transmission better or faster, and he even said himself that it's his favourite technique.
Besides, going inside an entirely different dimension just with sheer speed is impossible. Time and space are two different things.
I would like to mention with the metal cooler part. Metal cooler also has the ability to use instant transmission, there is a bit of dialog where he mentions its one of his favorite abilities which is why Cooler was able to keep at pace or even surpass Goku's version of it.

Toaster, there's also the fact that in video games, Broly is always the one given this weird particular ability or stamina or health. Like in most games, whether DBZ or crossover games( like mugen) Broly had this Berserk ability or super armor most notably in DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3. In that same game, when you select destruction points battle mode, Broly's number is 9 same as Gogeta SSJ2 who also has 9. Maybe even the game developers and Akira were tryna tell us something through all this😊
he has unlimited stamina and energy but his health and defense is too limited to hold all that energy thats why when they attacked his weak spot in the og move he exploded into a ball of energy. But Broly's power is determined by both his anger an the power of the opponent he is fighting. His power gain is way higher than any other sayian so when he goes down if you let him up to quickly he comes back way stronger

I'd do ssj4 vs ssg or ssb, I've seen some insane calculation on ssj4 that made me really reconsider how strong it is, unless you've already done it of course
I dont think ssj4 is a calculabe transformation tho, it is more like a saiyan's peak power, unleashing all of their inner saiyan power at the same time. If used by DBS goku, he'd be somewhere inbetween ssjbkkx and ui omen , as ui is not a "saiyan" ability so I'd say it dont count

For instance, the Author of Ben 10 for instance says that the universe in Ben 10 is infinite, yet we have an episode where the full extent of it's size is shown, and with it next to a neighboring universe.
He also has a deleted post of him saying that Alien X can survive timeline destruction, which is in contradiction to what was said in an interview by the writers where celestialsapiens can indeed be killed by this unless they form groups and agree to combat it (which is made consistent in the show)

Think the amp for fusion in fusion reborn is just too much for Broly. I am totally on board for Gohan in the second Broly movie being super strong since he trained but I doubt he comes close to a later movie's fusion of Goku and Vegeta. It would probably go similar to the dbs movie except the fight would become one sided once gogeta went SSJ instead of SSJ blue. To be completely honest, SSJ3 and possibly even 2 Goku could be stronger than Broly on his own. Really depends if you high or low ball the movie power levels compared to the canon power levels.
SS2 goku or vegeta would be more than enough they overrate the hell out of broly power it make no since.
maybe Koyama only meant that Broly is the strongest villain, therefore, Gogeta is not a villain so its not contradictory to assume he is stronger

Koyama’s statement is irrelevant since his claim is contradicted many times throughout the movies, unless you think the Goku with like, the energy of 3 people is stronger than Janemba. Also, Cooler doesn’t have immeasurable speed, he was using his own Instant Transmission to intercept Goku, that’s pretty blatant.
If my memory serves right, it was stated that Janemba was the strongest villain to ever appear in Z (or Z movies, i don't rmember clearly). and he wasn't even worth Z Gogeta's time.
I feel like broly will win against anyone in dbz if they let the fight drag on long enough.
If they destroy broly quickly gogeta can win but if that fight drags on cz they like playing around they'll lose.

@@Kenshinbtt buu is weaker than broly. Snd every form of buu too not just super buu. Same with gogeta and possibly vegito. Its stated by takao koyama(the screen writer for all the dbz movies that also helped direct the anime) that broly is the strongest being in the dbz animes original run. Including vegito and buu. The only questionable part is vegito since he kicked away buus universe ending attack pretty easily but then again broly is already multi galaxy while just being suppressed. People bring up how broly got beat by ssj goku but dont realize that goku doesn't scale to the anime versions via being from the movies where the characters are much different. Plus that goku was amped from lots of ki which we see that even ki from normal humans can kill a guy like kid buu.

I mean, if Bio-Broly is canon to Fusion Reborn, then Gogeta should be stronger. At the end of Bio-Broly, Goku was tasked with taking down Broly in Hell. If we're to assume that Goku took down Broly with the help of Pikkon, then Gogeta should have zero issues with Broly since Fusion results in a warrior that's multiplicatively stronger than the sum of its two halves.

I'm not sure if it was diazenshuu or the supplementary diazenshuu but these specific 3 villians were put in this order and it makes sense. Broly does have a constant growing pl but without hypothesizing who is to say it would nature grow to that of super janemba without intensive training.
Me personally I never felt hirudegan was all that powerful compared to the z fighters but rather tricky to deal with.
