Will this method work with regular food coloring? I don't have gel, that's why I'm asking. Thx

Hi Christina, I've only tried it with gel. But I would definitely try it with the regular stuff. If you do let me know if it works!

so you don't re mix them to fluff them up after the mircrowave/fridge?

Hi Carly. I re-stir after the microwave to make sure the color is dispersed thoroughly. After the fridge always remix your buttercream to make it nice and fluffy. Otherwise its too firm to pipe. Let me know if that helps you!

After the fridge yes. After the microwave no. After the microwave they should be a soupy mess. You are looking for near liquid consistency. In the fridge the liquid will firm back up. Give a good mix after the fridge to get it back to the piping/ frosting consistency

@@ThePrincessBaker remix, with a mixer, right? Not just stir.

Doesn't work. It makes it a liquid mess and then in order to be pipable, you have to allow it so solidify again, and the color is back to the original muted color it was at the start. Tried it many times

Yeaaaaaaah, doesn't work with real buttercream, unfortunately.
