    Thank You for this video

    I wanted a new turntable and saw your video here a couple of months ago. I found someone selling this same unit. I thought it needed a new needle because it was skipping, it also would not connect to a bluetooth speaker. I googled how to change the needle and this came up again. Then I saw the directions on here, mine I bought on Facebook market place so none of that was available. I got the speaker bluetooth connected because of your close up of that page. Then realized I didn't need to change the needle!
    So you inspired me to buy this one and then helped me when I thought it needed a few things. haha! Thank you!

      @@StillSpinning3 you got any good places to find old vinyl? Websites and such? I’m looking for some of the Veils on vinyl. And it’s very expensive on eBay.

      It’s a bit of trial and error but yes, try to avoid eBay unless you really really want a specific album you can’t find. Try your local record stores, Discogs, Plaid Room Records online is legit, and check the band’s web store.

      @@StillSpinning3 good call. Checking those places out.
      The band’s webpage doesn’t have it anymore, hence why it’s so expensive now.

    There's one by Best Buy under the brand name Insignia and it is made by the same company that made this Target Hey Day record player and it's just as nice if not just a touch nicer. It costs a lil more but it's worth it, any of them beat the suitcase or all in one players that you see everywhere.

    a lot of people hate on it having a bluetooth feature but it makes sense to me. this player isn't meant for people with massive amounts of money looking to gain the best quality possible. if you're looking for high music quality, spend the extra $20 on an audiotechnica lp60 but this is very much for someone beginning or with not a ton of money but still loves vinyl

    • @StillSpinning3
      @StillSpinning3  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that is normal. You are hearing the sound of the turntable stylus playing the record with no amplification. Completely normal.

    • @xaenon
      @xaenon 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is; in fact, it's an artifact of how a record player actually works. Very early record players, before they had electronic amplifiers, actually used this principle and fed it through a horn so the music could be heard. If it's bothersome, just close the lid.

    Still Spinning - how's this continuing to work out for you? Really leaning towards springing for one this week, but having that raging debate of do I spend $300-500 for "something nicer" or start here on the "mega-cheap but decent" and "upgrade". Although, I assume upgrading is limited to the cartridge and an external pre-amp? My other thought was buying a lower-end, higher-quality unit without bluetooth and going with an amp like you have with bluetooth connected to powered Klipsch speakers. Great review - I have one question because this is driving me crazy. In your video right at 13:35 when you lower the tone arm down, the hump on the tone arm REST is in the way and bumps the tone arm inward so you can’t put it down at the beginning of the record. I have one of these and it’s the same. Do we really need to get a Dremel out and shave that down? (Also, I live in an apartment building with 100 Bluetooth devices nearby so I’m pretty sure I’ll never be able to pair this with my speaker unless I take them both out to an empty field somewhere.)

    • @StillSpinning3
      @StillSpinning3  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching!!
      I'm a little bit confused about the part of the video you referenced where I lower the tonearm. It looks like I am just resting the tonearm on the lift lever then using the lever to lower the tonearm onto the LP. Not sure I watched the right part?

    • @st.g
      @st.g 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right, so... when you place the head over the edge of the album and lower the tone arm, the arm hits the arm rest and shifts over. For me it means it rips across the first few seconds of the album. I’m a few beers away from taking a Dremel to that hump on the tone arm rest.

    • @StillSpinning3
      @StillSpinning3  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah I got it. There are two ways to adjust that: anti-skating and adjusting the starting point of the tonearm on the LP. I am not aware if you can adjust either of these two things on this turntable to be honest.

Recently though it has started doing both on perfectly good and often new records. I assumed it needed a needle replacement, which I got and installed, and for a few days I didn’t have any problems but now it’s back to skipping and looping on records I know are good. The count weight is set to 2.5 like this video recommends, and the anti-skating dial is turned to 2.5. I tried experimenting with different counterweights with the same result. Could it be an issue with the belt then? Would appreciate any insight- this is my primary turntable and I’m so upset I’m having issues. Thanks!

      @@lauracorbett4577 Lmao it isn't. It's been the best Record player in the -100 range for a bit now,, and a great welcoming turntable, but has a load of problems that come with it. It's still a great player, and really a good purchase. But this new heyday turntable really puts the lp60 at risk of losing it's crown.

    Have you had any speed issues with it? And can you adjust the speed like the lp60?

    • @StillSpinning3

      No speed issues. The one thing I believe this table is missing is adjustable pitch. But mine plays fine.

    I just have one question: does the anti- skate help if you're playing warped records or would a weight clamp be the way to go? This looks like a well built player.

    • @StillSpinning3
      @StillSpinning3  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may help but isn't going to solve the problem.

      @@StillSpinning3 I was just wondering because if I were to use a clamp (I have a Record Doctor record clamp) if that would put unnecessary pressure on the motor (I'm not exactly a vinyl expert yet so bear with me).

    Im either planning on getting this or AT LP-60 for christmas, is the needle on this good? will it scratch the records? also, do you NEED a speaker for this or will it also play w/o speaker?

    • @StillSpinning3
      @StillSpinning3  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Needle is better than the Crosley or other suitcase players but also can be upgraded or replaced. Yes you will either need to connect to a speaker via wire or Bluetooth.

    Isn't it counter productive to send the audio over bluetooth when the reason to play vinyl is to get a fuller sound?

    • @StillSpinning3
      @StillSpinning3  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's versatility. More options.
      When the vinyl resurgence happened, one of the big selling points was converting vinyl records to MP3. Why would anyone transfer analog to digital? So they can listen to their LPs on the go.

  • @bellasnyder643

    does the turntable itself release like high-pitched version of the music from the speaker? if that makes sense. i just got this and i noticed that the turntable also makes noise that sounds like the beat of the song playing? maybe ive done something wrong? if anyone could reach out to me itd be appreciated.

    • @StillSpinning3
      @StillSpinning3  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't get any sort of alternative audio. I know if you are close enough to the turntable you can hear the music coming from the groves but that isn't additionally through the speakers and you have to be really close to hear it.

    • @bellasnyder643
      @bellasnyder643 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Still Spinning for me, its not necessarily "quiet." i think its just the sound of the groves, and it doesnt come from the speakers. im sure you know more about this than i do; do you have any idea of how to maybe lessen the audio its giving off?

    • @xaenon
      @xaenon 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bellasnyder643 If you switch off the amplifier, and still hear the music faintly from the player itself, that's actually normal. I've heard that from every record player I've ever owned. It's an artifact of how a record player actually works. What you're hearing is the needle vibrating in the groove. The solution is to close the lid or dust cover, but a lot of people don't notice it because they listen to the audio loud enough to mask it.

    I love this unit also. Near flawless for under $100. Integrated to Sonos throughout the house with Sonos Move outside, it's amazing. You mentioned the ability to upgrade to a better stylus (another thing I love about this). What would you recommend that fits this unit? Something really goo.

    • @StillSpinning3
      @StillSpinning3  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Upgrading the cartridge would require some pretty good technical skills. The unit wasn’t designed to upgrade but can be done with a few tweaks. I would start with an Ortofon Red cartridge if I were to upgrade this unit.

    • @StillSpinning3
      @StillSpinning3  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      May want to contact Google. The turntable doesn't have speakers so the sound you are hearing is the actual sound from the needle and the vinyl.

    • @GrellxSebby1012
      @GrellxSebby1012 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure you can connect it to the google home mini. From my understanding the google home mini doesn't really support bluetooth, you can use your phone to "mirror" sound but you have to download an app for that, so it isn't your traditional bluetooth, which sucks, I'd get the amazon Alexa dot instead.
