You need gutters all around the building. Maybe some in ground drainage in the concrete area around back. Make sure the grade all around is sloped away from the building as well.

    • @ecoalex
      @ecoalex 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

Bingo right on , gutters, proper` flashing, and sealing joints, it's difficult joining a new pour to an old slab. Good grades away are so important for extreme weather. In the north, ice adds another hurdle. I always go more than less on grades for that reason.

Totally agree. Gutters would limit the amount of water that hits that corner of your concrete stab but there is definitely an issue with the stab/building seal.

We were very fortunate and blessed to have only sustained minor roof, gutter and siding damage from wind and debris. So many others lost everything.

Hey puddin. Bob Vila here again. Nice work with your carpentry.
When you reinstalled the door trim and noticed that the contractor had left a space and you put the piece flush to the edge:
The contractor did that properly. That space is a ‘reveal’ it serves 2 purposes 1 it looks better by giving the panel more depth or dimension and 2 since wood moves with temperature and humidity it is impossible to make the trim stay flush with the wall over time. By leaving a reveal you allow it to move both ways without being too noticeable.
You did fine tho only Tom silva and I would point it out when we come over.

Puddin, at the shop I used to work at we had a leak after they resurfaced the parking lot and the driveway. After months of dealing with it we found out that one of the contractors trucks had clipped the corner of the building. We were maybe 3/16ths off of the foundation. Which normally wouldn't be an issue, but the sill got cracked. They tried digging out the area, and coating it with rubberized sealer, using some weird vinyl rubber stuff and 4 or 5 other methods to stop the leak. What they finally did was to call a foundation mudjacking company that also waterproofed foundations and basements. They injected something into the area which stopped the leak.

The exterior wall is missing a Z-flashing that should go up the small concrete wall, over the top and up behind the sheet metal side wall panel. Right now it looks like its dripping on top of the concrete ledge under the side wall panel and on top of the concrete over to the inside. There should also be a foam sill sealer between the top of the concrete and bottom of the exterior frame wall sill plate, it seems like it is not there. that would limit the travel of the water. Good Luck

Only comes in when it rains a certain amount and the wind blows just right. The builder (Amish) came out once and blamed it on condensation and never returned. I had another guy come out and he found multiple loose screws and some where they missed the perlin underneath. That fixed most of them but still get a leak occasionally.

That's definitely because the concrete or grade outside is sloped toward your building rather than away from it. It comes under the threshold of the door because the concrete curb wouldnt have been poured there for the door. In fact they ended the curb on the wall where you found it to start getting wet. Gutters and downspouts directing the water away from the building would also help.
Sika makes good concrete sealers for where its running through the expansion joint.

The outside "grade" needs to flow away from the building and you need over hangs on your building or you will never get rid of water in your building. When my Dad built the house that I grew up in in the 1950's he had 3' overhangs to keep the water away from the house. I noticed in a previous video that you had water running across in front of your new addition and towards the drainage ditch along side your building (if you were standing looking out the garage door, the water was coming up on the cement slab in front of the garage door and flowing from left to right.) You can't have water flowing towards your building, you need to have a ditch or something to divert the water away from your building. Oklahoma, as you know, is in an area where storms can bring an enormous amount of water in a short amount of time. If I were you I would get an engineer to look at your situation and come up with a plan. Good Luck and God Bless.

    Pro Paint Tip.....Use a 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch nap roller for o.s.b. and t-111 👍

as far as your grey paint...go to your paint store and ask them for a thicker nap roller. "sheep's wool" is what we used on concrete walls. Gets into all the voids.

Does it have any holes on the roof where they drove the screw too far or nail into the sheet of metal for the roof or on the side of the building where it's leaking because when it comes to that sheet metal that you use on a building is very easy to tear or drill through

Probably a good job to drill small holes and use a borascope right instead of tearing up the wall

When you were down by the creek, in the background of one of your shots, it looked like the water knocked through what looked to be a hill.

Good call to rip out the wall and truly find the leak. You definitely do not need the walls filling up with mold as a result of not finding the leaks. Hope things stay dry for you now!

That’s why I said have a roof over in the middle because I knew the rains was coming in there is more space to park your vehicle in there away from the rain or if you get delivery for the clothes the cups it be more dry🤪🤪
