I love Nugget! I love how he comes right over to you and Jason whenever you're in his area. He's so curious about everything! Where you're going, what you're doing, what you're wearing, everything! 😄 It was funny watching his head pop in and out of the shot as you were talking. He was emu photo bombing you! 😂 He is such a character! 💗 Have a great week!
Good morning Brooke. If your family would not enjoy the emu eggs could you collect them and add them to the dog's food or the pigs?? That way they would not be going to waste??? Hugs from N.C..❤
That would be a good idea.. that way and I agree, it would be better than letting them go to waste.
She wouldn’t even need to cook them. Raw eggs are actually healthy for dogs or pigs.
I was just thinking the same. Gus and Loretta would love eggs!
Actually, my vet said she didn’t want me to give my dog raw eggs when I told her I added a raw egg to his food. She asked me to cook it first which surprised me, so he got scrambled egg on top of his food every day.
North Carolina ❤here too!
Scramble them up and give them to your dogs. Your dogs will love the eggs.
Great idea!!!
Giving the eggs to your dogs is a good idea, if you didn't want to eat them.🥰
Or your chickens too
Brooke I love how Nugget follows you and looks you in the eyes. He loves you so much 💞💞
Good morning. A fun little eggsperiment you had there. As for the pond clean up, could you not confine Nugget and Goldie to the pasture near the barn for a limited time and allow the goats some limited time (perhaps even supervised) access to that area allowing them to feast on any young trees that might want to pop up as needed.
Great idea! Goats would have a feast and love it. The bonus would be the answer to Brooke's problem.
Jason’s face when he walked in. 😂That made a lot. ❤️🙏
That was interesting! That really could feed a lot of people. Something to consider.
Time to freeze dry emu eggs
😂
You can drill a small hole at one end and another, a bit larger, and blow out the white and yolk. Rinse the eggshell out and let it dry. You can then decorate the eggshell or use it to make an egg-shaped candle.
I was going to comment the same as you did about keeping eggs. I thought just keeping them. Love their color.
I’m with you on that. I was going to suggest it before but then Cathrine started incubating them. They’d make gorgeous decorated eggs. I’m sure you could google some examples!
I would be willing to buy a couple eggs for carving/decoration/craft purposes. Thanks. Prayers for health and safety.🙏❤️🙏
I fell in love with the colour of Goldies eggs and always thought I would dremel a design on one & make it a lamp.
I used to work with a lady that used chicken, duck and Emu eggs and made so many pretty thing with them. Just have to remember to wear a proper mask when doing a lot of drilling on eggs the dust can settle in your lungs and make an issue for you down the road.
What a great idea! I would eat them. If you could gather as soon as you knew she laid to ensure freshness, I’m sure there would be other families who could use them to feed their families. Can you imagine using one for a pound cake? 😮
Emu eggs perfect for your favorite dessert creme brulee. yummy. Loves
So glad that you and Catherine made the trip to that emu farm and come back with more information about sibling emus. Enjoyed the video.
When I was young and lived on a turkey farm , I had never had a chicken egg . We always ate turkey eggs . If I had Emu I would be eating those Emu eggs !
I grew up on Goose eggs which always grossed my friends out. I never understood why!
Good morning Brooke… chilly here in UK…an egg is an egg and food is food xx
My cousin had Emus and gave me an egg one time. She told me the emu eggs were stronger than chicken eggs and it is best to make it into an omelet or something. So I fried up some ground sausage, onions green peppers and tomatoes and scrambled the emu egg up with som milk salt pepper and creole seasoning and made 8 to12 breakfast burritos. (I can't remember how many, but it fed my family of 6 with leftovers.) This would be great to sell to breakfast restaurants.
This video surprised me, Ms. Brooke. I truly appreciate your "practical nature". My Mother's Mother was a back yard gardener; one of her sayings was "Waste not, want not!" What you just taught us takes strength from her saying ! You have impressed my life with all the videos that you and Jason produce thru Cog Hill Family Farm. I see you all living your lives in /on your little "piece of Eden." Blessings, Graces and Peace to you and yours.
I’m pppppppppppppp😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
BEAUTIFULLY Stated, and it Takes a Lot to Empress Me, just an FYI❣️And I Fully Agree❣️And I Pray 🙏🏻 We ALL Find Our Piece of Eden Someday❣️🥹
For the Hill LET THE GOATS CLEAN THE HILL UP ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Nuggo was taking in every word you said Brooke lol he was making me laugh, he is so inquisitive, one of favorites along with Mooman and Mootilda and the gorgeous Pookie
Can't forget sweet Mildred, too. Such a gentle soul. ❤
Loved Jason’s first reaction when you told him Emu egg 😂
Brooke you need to make a 10 egg pound cake!! I'm gonna email you the recipe and you can make it in a video!! I'm so invested in the results.
LOL, Instead of ten eggs she could use ONE emu egg!!
😂Nugget is listening carefully 😂
It is so cool to see MaryCarl’s pigeons flying in your videos.
Goats on the hill? 🐐🐐🐐
And chicken eggs in my tummy. 🐓🐓🐓
goats love Christmas trees so good idea!
Keep your emu eggs and cook them up for the pigs !
#
Thank you Brooke for this very informative video.
Brooke, that was a very interesting and informative video. Not that I have emu's but I loved this video. Sometimes I think we just used to certain tastes. Thanks for trying the egg Brooke and Jason.❤😊
Glad your honey is feeling better
Thank you. You are a fabulous teacher. ❤
you can also use the eggshell, dried, crushed and add to your garden.
@just_ducky_acres7561. ... A Pharmacist friend of mine advised she ran egg shells through a small food chopper (the type used to chop nuts and such), to make calcium for her family. Sometimes she portions it into capsules (for travel - after TSA thought her RX bottle of white powder was an illegal substance), but mostly she adds it to smoothies, soups, etc. It's a fine powder and has zero taste. As thick as emu eggs are it would be enough for a her family of 8 for many months
@@galady8632There's probably additional mineral content in the outer green part, too. Maybe copper or something.
I'd love to see an analysis of the nutrients in emu egg shells- I'll bet plants would go crazy!
Or crush it and offer it to the chickens for calcium... or do some kind of art with it. 😊
1 egg and a great pound cake which usually takes 6-8 eggs! 💕🇨🇦
Yes... use it in baking
yes! it also makes amazing meringue with the egg whites
or bread pudding. That takes a lot of eggs too
Liked all the comments about letting the goats on the dam bank. Of course not if there was stuff on there not good for them! Wow on the emu egg!! Ya’ll were brave trying it. Good ideas from your Cog Squad about giving it to your animals if you didn’t want to eat them. Looks good to me! 😋
You and Catherine learned a of of good information on that trip. And that was one big egg! It could feed a family! 💖💖💖
Always fun learning with you!
Oh Brooke- this was so interesting to watch! I’m just fascinated by the emu eggs: size, color, shell etc!
So glad you found that information out for nugget and Goldie 💜🙏🏻
I would put them on the farm stand. I bet that people would be curious. Also, freeze dry them & add to recipes.
Freeze dried is a great idea
I said the same thing about the farm stand! I would leave them in the shell for the farm stand, though. Those shells are so beautiful people would buy them just for the novelty and beauty of that shell. Not to mention all that deliciousness inside.
Maybe blow out the delicious contents of a few and decorate the shells to decorate the farm stand - and to give people ideas and encourage them to buy some for the shells. It would become a Christmas tradition for some people, I can almost guarantee.
Thanks for sharing the fun video!❤😊
Really good video. Entertaining and educational.
Good morning, Brooke!
What about a controlled burn to get rid of the growth on the bank, Brooke?
...do not forget the roots of the pine trees are the real problem...
Jason discussed that in an earlier Vlog...To wet for the equipment to get in there for control....
Great eggs-periment !!😂❤❤❤ Hope the Cog Squad is doing GREAT today!
Eggs-cellent idea for a large family or possibly donating the emu eggs 🥚 to the local homeless shelters!! ❤❤❤
I truly enjoy this video and seeing the taste test. Thank for sharing this
Wow I can't believe how much the pond has dried up
Thank you Brooke, that was very interesting. I so enjoyed that, yall are brave too try it!! Sound like yall are warming up like we are. Enjoy the rest of yalls day❤❤❤
Tarp the hill
Morning Brooke. I wait every day for the cog hill video. Your weather looks lovely. It's freezing in Central Scotland ❄️
Good morning Brooke and all. ❤😊
Good morning! The experiment with the eggs was absolutely interesting! Wonder what the emu egg would do in baked goods??? ❤
WOW!!! That was amazing! 😮😮
Good morning Brooke, looks like a beautiful day in Alabama. That was interesting thoughts on the Emu. 🇨🇦
Interesting. 😊
Thank you for sharing
✌🏽💖🤟🏼✨️🧚♂️
I just absolutely love love nugget.❤❤
Brooke is so pretty
Jason is so handsome
Both are so inquisitive and intelligent
They are the Cat's meow. 😻
The emu egg is probably good for baking giving baked goods a lighter texture, kind of the way duck eggs do.
Good morning Brooke, thank you and Nugget for sharing the warmth of Smiles, your viewers up North will take all the Warmth you can send our way. Nugget is a very Special Individual he doesn’t say much but the Love he dishes out is endless, always ready for some interaction and sharing. So inquiring minds wanted to know and you have literally stepped up to the plate for us, imagine how fluffy they would make a cake. 😀👍👍👍
Nugget really appears to be interested and listening to your talking! So cute! I know the pigs and the dogs will love those eggs!
This was great fun.❤😊
Thanks Brooke for sharing this information. Always learning more and more about EMUs from you. ❤😊
Good Morning Brooke I hope you have a great day 🫏🫏🐱🐓🐣🦃🦆🐖🐖🐖🐴
That was interesting to say the least. Thanks for sharing that information on emu eggs.
Great video, Brooke. Hope the dogs enjoyed their breakfast!
At first, when you think of eating an emu egg, it does seem kind of wrong ....I suppose because Goldie and Nugget are pets, but if they are not fertilized, then it is sort of like your chicken's eggs, who are kind of like pets, too. An egg is an egg; I say eat them. Just think of them as a great way to save a dozen eggs of your chickens.
Also, think about maybe putting your goats in the pond area, if you can. I think those goats would clean out that area pretty quickly. You may have to continue to do it from time to time, but that would be an easier way of cleaning the area of the vegetation. Glad you're feeling better, Jason. Great job, Brooke !
A large amount of protein... Dehydrate them Brooke...I buy powdered eggs (for my emergency food pantry) 😊
The cooked Emu egg scrambled looks like when I put a tsp of half & half in my scramblers.. fluffy
Have fun figuring out how and where you can use them..
🩷🙏🏼👩🏼🦳🐈🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐕🦺
Freeze dry them
BROOKE, Sometimes aftertimes a really good rain, you can glove up and pull them up. This is what I do, and it works great! Try it and how it works for you. I do believe this will be a great solution for you.
I do this with my Rose of Sharon! They grow EVERYWHERE!
Hi Brooke. Thanks for sharing your time with us all and updates on the farm. Remember Lester saying the ostrich eggs were pretty tasteless compared to chicken eggs maybe emu being smaller taste better to an ostrich. Glad Jason is feeling a bit better. I watched the video of C and G farms and your visit it was so interesting what she had to say about the process. Least you now know. No more sitting for Nugget. Have a wonderful day take care and God bless 💕🙏
Could the goats help with all that mess on the damn? You have portable electric fence if needed no? Just a thought.
I was thinking the same thing.
Brooke had said that she wanted to get the pine tree out of there with roots. The roots grow straight down . Sounds like she may wish for a way to mess the roots up.
I Was thinking that the goats could help as well. ❤
That's very ingenious, I would not have thought of doing that.
the damn what? 😂
Wow! I was wondering that. Great video ❤ love you all so much! Continued prayers and God bless ❤❤
I think Jason was thinking he was eating NUGGET..... Too connected
Good morning sweet Brooke-Wow! Peacock eggs coming soon. Nugget is on the move-May God give you wisdom on how to clear the hillside.
He is looking at you like he understands what you are saying I love nugget .
Hi 👋 CogHill 🫶🏻
With how Nugget moves up close around Brooke, the motion reminds me of the movie, " My Stepmother is an Alien " with Dan Ackroid.😂❤❤❤
Pine seedlings are pretty easy to pull up when they're little.
That was interesting.
Great video!
Good morning have a wonderful day, from the trucker that looks forward to seeing all your videos and photos 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Omg…I just loved your info. Who new
What a gem Nugget is❤. God bless y'all ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow the Emu egg has a lot inside. Love the taste testing on this.
Interesting video!!
Good morning Brooke Jason and Mary Carl thank you for having me along God bless y'all love y'all
Small trees can be pulled like pulling t-posts.
Best way, IMO.
Less disturbance of hillside soil.
No burn, ashes will make waters makeup different. Weed wack other stuff.
You can always plant a few huge clumps of CONTAINED BAMBOO.
( NON SPREADING )
Andrew's Nursery will have some this year again. Mine is beautiful, been there for 20 years.
( 1 clump with a 12 foot span in width.)
@gafairbanks2434, you might should put this info as a main comment and not a more hidden reply. That way Brooke and others will have a better chance to see ❤❤❤
Thank you for such an informative video.❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Brooke! Glad your temperatures are on the rise. It’s 83 in Palm Beach. Hope you have a beautiful day & we Love Nugget 🙏🙏🙏Blessings
So interesting Brooke. With the price of eggs right now that could feed a lot of people. Thank you
Put a little more butter in the emu egg and a little salt and then see what happens to the taste.
Nugget is so cute emu ❤❤❤😊
Aloha 🌺 Good morning Brooke. Very interesting! Nugget sure is Handsome! 🌺🥰💖
That was very interesting Brooke thanks for sharing.. Always love watch'in thanks for share'in. God bless..!!🤗
Good educational video ❤
Such a bright blue day in Alabama. We’ll have one in April in Upstate, NY. 😉
If u do not eat or sell , u can always take them some place that have food line ups to feed the less fortunate .
Wow! The emu egg was huge. The taste test of the egg experiment was interesting.
Maybe you could give them to Loretta and Gus, I don't know what you feed the dogs but maybe they would like them, instead of just tossing them. Thank you Brooke for sharing this test. Jason hope you get better soon. Love you ❤️ all
Good video Brook. Very informative. Thank you.
Nuggos hair is looking awesome !! Wow. This was a great learning experience. Maybe the emu eggs for your family would be great in a recipe rather than on its own. I’ve seen eggs be great foods for the other animals on the farm - that’s always a possibility for you and those eggs 😍 they are so pretty. I just know there is someone in your community that would love to craft the shells for you. I know I would love to have one. You are one amazing woman Brooke. Love to watch you and the farm. Y’all be good ❤
Are those itty bitty cows on your earrings??!? Those are GREAT!!!! I love them!!
Yes!
That was AWESOME!!! I loved the taste test! I remember when a very very long time ago you did a similar taste test with chicken, duck and I don’t recall was it a turkey egg? I think the duck egg had the 😮richest flavour. God bless.
🥰❤️🍁🇨🇦🙏🏻
Maybe the thing to do is have a three bird egg mix, the way some people stuff a duck with a chicken and then into a turkey? that as an omelette centrepiece to a sharing platter or as a novelty in portions for a baby shower? All sorts of weird, but some would love it
Chicken, duck, goose maybe turkey
@@karencross1964 thanks, I had forgotten goose
So interesting, Brooke!! Thank you for sharing!! 💜🙏💜
Good morning Brooke.
That was very interesting. Thank you for sharing the experiment with us.
Good comparison video I would try the emu egg I bet it would make a great cake proud of Jason to step out of his comfort zone
