So cool. You drew out every part down to each and every bolt even. Shape and ratios look cool as hell. Even the music "doesn't suck," and kind of got me pumped up on the real. It feels good to be able to call out each part/system as it goes on. This is kind of like a cool set of flashcards in a way. Thanks 🤝
@Nanakiyami. I absoluteley agree. One thing you forgot to mention is the hours of cleaning you have to do. I'm curently doing a 2.4 Duratorq TDDI from a transit, (Identical bottom end and timing gear to this) and that's worse.. due to the turbo and EGR the amount of cr*p you have in the inlet ports is incredible. If they're going to build motors with crappy small ends lacking decent lubrication then they should make them so that you can do it without pulling the lump, clutch, flywheel, crank seal, etc. like we always used to do it.
there's also a 2.3 16v ~170hp I believe they're about all the same just minor differences like on the 2.3 the dipstick inst in front of the intake, it's kind of in the middle of the valve cover. Basically identical engines.
I believe the 1.6 is a different block, but the 2.0 and 2.3 and 2.5 are essentially the same block and design albeit with different injection and head designs throughout the years.
Sweet animation dude! Sure looks easy when you look at this, but doing that whole procedure manually IRL sux royal ass.. Been forced to do this about 4 times at work. Remove the "engine" ((IMHO it's more of an anchor)) / disassemble the whole fucker / change pistons +rings all valves and all that crap... then this fantastic part of getting it back to running order again.. Ya sure learn some stuff, but mostly you feel like blowing the fucker to hell! ^^ +1 for the vid
I used this vid to find the location of the thermostat housing so I could replacement it. Impossible to see when the engine is assembled and in the car without taking the headlamp out!
I have the Duratec 2.3 for my 2006 Ranger, really cool to see how it all works but WHYYYY did they make the PCV valve so difficult to access? (Rhetorical question, I know) I need to change it because I’m getting a lot of oil in my intake and I’m looking at a whole weekend project with my novice at best skills 🤣
and now i know where to start looking for spark plugs :D i reconstructed the engine into and hybrid with Gas and LPG so i have to install better or basically LPG sparks
Im almost certain it is an interference engine. The real problem comes with timing chain stretch and broken guides. Out of time=destroyed engine=interference.
Very cool. I've been doing work on this engine, and can actually recognize some of the parts! Some of which I hate with a passion (pcv crankcase under the goddam intake manifold!!)
TheFoMoCo1903 i wanna say this is one of the earlier designs. I've got a 2.0 Duratec in my 2005 ford focus, mostly the same except it is in fact coil on plug and also direct injected as opposed to port
Hi guys just a question , what’s that part like a metal cover in 1:32 , I see have 2 bolts, mine are broken, anybody knows the name or part number of that cover ? Thanx for your help
Homertoeclipper yes bulletproof indeed, mine has 247k miles on it, brought it with over 150k and used to commute it 30 miles every day, still running strong as hell.
Finish/Done - Did the exact same thing as you, in December I picked up an old 5 sp escape with 159K on it - giving it some love, getting it ready for another 150K. I've had rangers 96 thru 2006, with the 06 (2.3L) being my present workhorse (but out on loan to my #2 son). That ranger will be with me as long as I'm here. I just touch that thing and it comes to life, first kick. The basics will always get you where you need to go. Be well.
what idiot engineer designed those bolts holding alternator ac.....long bolt small hex land..additional 1 inch plus thread on top engineers need to be put in field as they used to be
+Phen0mable Yes, at 2:37 you can see the spark plugs and the ignition coil being installed. diesel engines ignite the fuel using heat from compression rather than a spark so diesel engines don't have spark plugs.
I just got a fiesta 1.4 and seeing it work makes me appreciate it even more. Absolute eyecandy

This was from Ford. Not someone in their free time.
I had ff3 1.6 duratec. And I can say that is one of the best engines ever.
DURATEC HE IV 2.0 uses a timing chain. The belt on the cover is just running auxiliaries such as water pump and alternator.
i enjoy going back over the basics
'Engine Choreography' par excellence.Rivetting to the eyes of a Petrol or Diesel engine enthusiast such as yours truly!
Thanks for the animation now I know why my fiesta goes forward when I push the gas pedal...
This 😂 ☝️
perfekte Anleitung zum Steuerkette wechseln ;-) Danke
Ford Dura-tec 2.0litre engine , one of the best engine ever made,by FORD very well build ENGINE
Epic video!
wounderfull simulation
.1.6 16v Duratec uses timing belt, 1.8 got chain
i love Ford, period.

1.8 & 2.0 Duratec they use the same size of chain?
there's also a 2.3 16v ~170hp I believe they're about all the same just minor differences like on the 2.3 the dipstick inst in front of the intake, it's kind of in the middle of the valve cover. Basically identical engines.
Also coil on pack
so does that mean the 2.3 Desi motor that's in the mazda is also chain driven? that would be awesome
Wow this was great
bravo mattryobroad d'être le millième abo gg
merci mattryobroad pour le like tu est le premier like de mon commentaire GG
No it's definitely a timing chain ! Ford use belts on the mk4 though .
I believe the 1.6 is a different block, but the 2.0 and 2.3 and 2.5 are essentially the same block and design albeit with different injection and head designs throughout the years.
It's interference
The duratec is a great engine
thanks ! very interesting video about engine!
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
Really awesome video. Great job
thank you for video
Does this model also concern the 1.25 12v duratec engines in Ford Fiestas?
1.8 & 2.0 Duractec HE have timing chains.
Do they ever have to be replaced?
Short con rods, high piston pend only 4 head bolts chain drive cams Good points alloy sump main bearing saddle.
Just noticed something. Does this engine not employ freeze plugs? Do modern engines not use them?
the inside of turbocharger is in 2:41
Thanks

Amazing work!
vgoood video.. real life, ford are a plain to fix.. never stop fixing
VANflawless flawlessNIXION sofiene
I used this vid to find the location of the thermostat housing so I could replacement it. Impossible to see when the engine is assembled and in the car without taking the headlamp out!
WOW, loved it.
Designed & Simulated in CATIA V5 !!!
V5 Mondeo 2008 model timming belts and harmonic balancer replacement
Excuse me, is this 1.6 16v 100hp? Or 2.0 16v 145? Or both are made the same way, just the cylinder bore and stroke are different?
Really ? 240p ? dude it's 2020 !
Excellent
Can anyone help me by telling me where high pressure oil feeds from? And if any of those lines feed oil to and from the engine? Thankyou
Is this considered a noninterference motor? Because I have my cams off and 12 out of the 16 valves remain down.
What’s the difference with the 2.5 v6 Duratech?
No balance shafts?
Are the rams hydralic ?
I have the Duratec 2.3 for my 2006 Ranger, really cool to see how it all works but WHYYYY did they make the PCV valve so difficult to access? very good, thanks
is this an interference valve engine or not?
Non interference
and now i know where to start looking for spark plugs :D i reconstructed the engine into and hybrid with Gas and LPG so i have to install better or basically LPG sparks
Is it a non interference engine? Because I did a money shift in mine the rpms went up to 8500 (limiter 6700) yet it still works fine
Im almost certain it is an interference engine. The real problem comes with timing chain stretch and broken guides. Out of time=destroyed engine=interference.

Chain or time belt ?
Ford often uses time belt not chains !
Its very help full, Thanks
good job
Very cool. I've been doing work on this engine, and can actually recognize some of the parts! Some of which I hate with a passion (pcv crankcase under the goddam intake manifold!!)
Pls tell me the software used to accomplish this ?
Most DuraTec engines have timing chains, not belts. Don't know why but this one isn't coil on plug.
TheFoMoCo1903 i wanna say this is one of the earlier designs. I've got a 2.0 Duratec in my 2005 ford focus, mostly the same except it is in fact coil on plug and also direct injected as opposed to port
This is an old post, but no. The 2005s are coil-on-plug, but only the 2012+ are Direct Injected. All prior MY Duratec I-4s are Port injected.
+KiriyaAoi dangit
My 54 plate ka has a timing chain in her.
Como poner la distribucion de monde 2.5 v6

NICE!
The cam profile is _completely_ off.
Holy crap i saw thins in school
I like my ford car because it is high technology.
looks like a steering pomp
Ford focus lore
I think it is the generator.
NICE
@PerlitaHabanera Far from it. Easy when you know what you are looking at.
@racefactory900 -Why do you ask?
this is more complicated than the human body.
How long did this take to render?
I love my ford car
That's a water pump.
Nesecito las imágenes del Diésel motor 2.4
isn`t it from deutz engine animation
look similar to the 2az-fe
at 2:41 is your Water Pump!
@dreamsofhaegum You have a ford duratec engine?
MOST CRAPPED COMMENT!!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😱😱😱😠
fajny obama B)
NOOOO I WANT AN APP OF ENGINE SIMULATION!!😭
@Ritxer DRAGFX BUT NOTHING!!!😭
@Ritxer SEARCHED ON GOOGLE PLAY!!!! AND NO
JUST GUIDES, MANUALS, HELP
ok can you not re-render this video to at least 480p it so crappy can't make out the details should really be at least 720p
1 million bucks to your patreon account if you make this engine into an audodesk fusion 3d cad tutorial
super...
i think its a water pump
Is this engine fuel efficent ?
Tom Jardine yes it is. i use about 6 liter per 100 km in my Ka
And it's bulletproof.
My 2012 ford escape averages 22.5 to the gallon, it's decent.
Homertoeclipper yes bulletproof indeed, mine has 247k miles on it, brought it with over 150k and used to commute it 30 miles every day, still running strong as hell.

power steering impeller
Respekt
Could anybody tell me what is the small wheel in 3:02?
idle pulley or perhaps a tensioner pulley
Yes, that's the serpentine belt tensioner.
Zetec is based on the Duratec but uses a timing belt instead.
The water pump
There is no tining chain. These engins have timing belts !
coolant/water pump
This is Mazda L engine!
Quite right. It isn't a Ford Duratec.
gary miller some engine are from mazda
The duratec is the Mazda l they're the same engine
wasnt it a v8?
Ford engine designed by Porsche and developed by Cosworth in the UK.
water pump duh!
what idiot engineer designed those bolts holding alternator ac.....long bolt small hex land..additional 1 inch plus thread on top engineers need to be put in field as they used to be
This is petrol engine right
+Phen0mable Yes, at 2:37 you can see the spark plugs and the ignition coil being installed. diesel engines ignite the fuel using heat from compression rather than a spark so diesel engines don't have spark plugs.
Phen0mable if you see any igniter then it it is a petrol engine so yes
Hate the plastic Intake idea
+Peter Moniz yea it sucks when trying to turbo it
Hi everone sorry to bother i have a Question about a Ford Fiesta 1.4 16V Duratec that i have is it Chain timing or Belt? Thanks everyone.
.Fiesta is a 1.6 liter, belt.
Ford fiesta 1.4 petrol 16v 85hp duratech uses belt.
FORD Galaxy 2.0L Duratec HE (2009) is it a chain or timing belt?
water pump oops
Ford transit
