    Just here to say thank you again to everyone who watched my crappy stuff during the last 4 Years xD.

    Great video. I'm starting from the opposite end of the scale to yourself! I have the van and solar powered pc but am now starting on my coding and art journey. No desire for a career in industry, purely for enjoyment. Keep it up and the van will be yours soon enough!

    • @LionDev
      @LionDev  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Sometimes the internet is crazy to be honest. I mean what are the odds of me uploading a 6 minute video about gamedevelopment mentioning the thing about the van at like minute 6 and you come across the video and watch it until that point where I mention this😂
      I went to Scotland this summer with a friend and we lived out of a van for like 4 weeks and it was such an awesome experience. That's where my interest in all that came from so it's even cooler to hear from someone who has actually done the stuff I dream about (Solar powered Pc in a Van)

      @@LionDev haha yeah! Crazy that I'm currently in France watching your videos too. Tiny world since tech got so good. Scotland is amazing, we did the same thing! Hope you turn that dream into a reality. The UK is a nightmare for vanlife, as soon as you sampled Europe in your van you will be spending months out here like us.

    I'm starting Game Dev right now, and I'm afraid of this path knowing that almost everyone in this industry keeps failing for years before making a good game, keep it up.

    • @LionDev
      @LionDev  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah it's a bit scary for sure. However there are a few ways to limit that risk of taking forever to create a good game. I feel like the key really is starting small. Do some game jams, try out different engines, find the tools you like the most and maybe you stumble across an interesting game idea while doing this. Defenetly learn your tools before trying to go into big projects.
      Could be wrong here but that's what I've learned during my journey.
      Hope it helps and thanks for the comment 😉
      If you want you can join my discord server and we chat a bit about it. I was thinking about a small challange maybe just to get something going.
      Edit: Wait you already got 2 videos that are doing quite well. You might not even need my help at all xD

    How could you say no or not yet? Unless you are giving up on game dev entirely you are still a hell of a lot closer to being the developer you want to be because of the experience you have gained thus far. Without those four years you would inevitably make the same mistakes you already made and probably not have any more success than what you have already accomplished

    • @LionDev
      @LionDev  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah that's true but i corrected that statement in the end of the video. Wasn't the best choice of words in the beginning ;)
      The only think i would say "no it wasn't worth" is actually project mind since it was a real timewaste. Didn't learn a lot but took an incredible amount of time but your point is defenetly true.
      Thanks a lot for the comment

    Keep up the good work! As someone 10+ years older than you, trust me that you're just starting your journey, and you still have a lot of time to figure things out. Even if you'll spend another 10 years working in some other field, nothing will prevent you from getting more gamedev experience. I started getting into graphics programming only a year ago, but I'm still excited for all the new possibilities. And you have already achieved so much more on this path

    • @LionDev

      Thank you that's awesome to hear but are you kidding me? Just checked out your videos trying to find things to improve and as a first impression you are doing pretty good stuff. The only problem i could thing of might be the titles or the thumbnails but i don't want to give bad advice since i don't know your analytics.
      In my opinion you should be able to improve your content a lot by looking at your analytics the right way.
      Just a few examples:
      - Retention after 30 seconds lower than 60% -> Try out a different kind of hook in your next video to get between 60%-70% after 30 seconds (all my videos above a few hundred views lie in that range)
      - Clickrate bad -> Don't be afraid to change your Thumbnail or Title
      Also just cut the crap. If you see in the retention graph that viewers leave your video consistently it might be because of to much talking around. I actually had that with the original intro of this video. Only 49% were watching at the 30 second mark so i decided to cut it in TH-cam itself. Turned out as a good decission i guess xD
      Anyways neither do i know what your analyitics look like nor am i a TH-cam expert (with 900 subs after 4 years that's kinda obvious) but i hope i could give you some useful information.
      Just don't be too hard to yourself and don't compare your success to other peoples success. I did this a lot in the 4 Years of Game Development and it's defenetly a unhealthy habbit.
      Don't compare but learn from others how to do it better and if you want to learn a bit more about that i made a video called How to succeed as a self taught gamedev where i go over this a bit more detailed and this was just a short summary.
      Hope that text is understandable and doesn't contain a lot of spelling mistakes xD
      Anyways thanks again for your comment because beeing an inspiration for someone is always great ;)

      @@LionDev Thanks for the advice! I realized my thumbnails and titles are sometimes too short so I've tried replacing a lot of them and it's turned out pretty good. I've never thought of just fully cutting out the bad parts in yt and I might actually do that with one of my videos. I still have a lot of time for my channel to get popular so it's just onward with the grind!
