Matte Paint Play: Watercolor paper vs Canvas in Art Journaling

- In this art video tutorial, I delve into the world of mixed media journaling with the versatile Dina Wakley Media Journal. Exploring the differences between watercolor and canvas pages within the same spread, I experiment with Blick matte paint and various stencils to create dynamic compositions. One notable technique I employ is the use of a silicone spreader instead of traditional paint brushes, adding an element of spontaneity and texture to the process.

Dina Wakley Media Journal - Looks like this one is gone - you might google this journal to see what is still available. I heard it was a discontinued journal and the craft journals were the ones currently being made.

I thoroughly enjoyed today's painting. The first stencil reminded me of river rocks balanced on top of each other. The black added drama and emphasis. The silver goes with the purple, but played more of a supporting role, something to surprise close up.

I so love the spread paint - makes me think of Venetian plaster. I bought the Blick matte paints so I’m going to try this. Also, I wonder if your thick bottle of Purple Matter maybe would be good for stenciling? You regret not having your camera on for your first pages…I regret not getting that art journal. 😂
