GOSH that ocean blue is gorgeous. You can get all of the colors in large, round ceramic individual palettes. I was cheering you towards the Sienna with the Ocean Blue. That looks wonderful! It's my favorite!! Using the scraper for moving the paint and adding texture is a great effect. I've been dipping my water-soluble tools in water before I make marks. They get a bit more dramatic on paper pre-wet.

Denise! You asked where we are in creating, so here I am letting you know! I just finished a few chapters in an Abstract Watercolor book just launched by an English artist this last Tuesday. While she is launching hers, you are journaling here. Neways, I am delighted to know that my gut instinct to collect watercolor and mixed media supplies this last year has panned out. My art studio is prepped, and I have about a half dozen pieces to photograph already - one inspired by you when you did the Daniel Smith Lunar Black granulation piece. Another piece in my beginning bunch is inspired by yet a different English artist here on TH-cam. Soooo, I am "going" and very excited with at least 3 different pieces to perhaps do this next time up. *does a Denise Love excited squeel*. ~❤~

Love both of them! It looks like this set of watercolors has more pigment than the Kuretake Gansai Tambai watercolors, yes?
They seem to be brighter and a bit more transparent. I didn’t really notice a pigment difference though. 😊
@@2lilowlsstudio Have you tried the KISSHO Japanese Painting Paint Horned Face Sai Ayami Ink 20 Colors? Those colors look so awesome....it says they are oil? But they look more graphite-ish which I know is up your alley (mine too :-) ) I may have to splurge for them 🙂
Those look a bit like the Kuretake e-sumi inks - which I like ok.. but they aren't my favorite set to pull out - so I haven't gotten the Kissho ones.
@@2lilowlsstudio Just had to report back...I did actually buy these and the colors are absolutely gorgeous. Wish I could post a photo of my swatches here. I also have the Kuretake E-sumi inks and I think these are actually a little richer. So far, I've only swatched...hopefully they will still be fun when I use them in my painting.
also, on the next page could you put a clear gesso on the burlap( hoping it would not run through but if clear would it matter if you did) so you could paint over the marks from the other side? Hope you understood my thoughts there 🥴
Maybe, but I think the paint would still go through. The burlap is too loosely woven and the gesso isn’t thick enough to fill all the holes. 😊

When you pull out your Kuretake pans, do you put them back in order where they were? I have both sets and was thinking of organizing them to be easier to find in color groups: reds/pinks/oranges, etc.
Mine are mostly in order because I just put them back where I created a hole pulling them out. I don’t try to keep them in order since they are marked on the bottom of each pan what they are 😁
What is the difference between the neocolor 2 and neocolor 1 pastels?
Neo color 2 are water soluble and the others aren’t. 😊
