thank you for the show, but why we can't use quadro fx 4500 on mac pro 1.1 or 2.1 anymore? after the upgrade de system, nowaday people are looking for the solution all over the internet, but non could go back the look like old days, even use the original rom, while the card is still performence today, it's really a pity.
TH-cam's been very strange with notifying me with my responses. I guess the difference with Mountain Lion is you get certain things like iCloud and the new Messages app which syncs with iMessage. Also, going back to your previous point, the Mac Pro hack doesn't give you graphics acceleration, an untenable situation for OS X ML which depends so heavily on them. NVIDIA are the ones who stopped providing driver support for that old graphics card. So, this isn't Apple's fault.
I bought one of these in 2018. The OS was locked so I couldn't do anything with it, so I tore the machine apart and built an ATX system inside. If only I knew I could wipe the drive and do a fresh install from a USB drive, I would've done that instead. I regret putting a beautiful machine in its grave.
I just looked it up again, you're right, they only go up to Lion. The 2008 one officially supports Mountain Lion. Oh well, still a good run, 2006-2012 being officially supported.
How much extra did they charged for the Quadro 4500 x back then? I think it has reached the 3 k € line with this upgrade. So that would be just 400 $ less
@bathellfire no chance of new imacs or macbook pros(at least design wise) they upgraded the processors and my thoughts are it will be all about iphone and ipad. im excited to see the 4.0 on ipad
I always used Apple Macs because they worked beautifully and they were ahead of the game, but know they care more about the iPhones than the rest of their products and now their new Mac books are using slower SSDs and the same old keyboards. Apple now care about profits and using the same old designs year in and year out. hopefully like Apple of old, there will be a new Steve Jobs and his friends in there backroom working on the next cutting edge of design and Apple will be the next IBM and Blackberry slowly fading from their golden age of experience and design for there customers and be just another computer hardware company trying to be famous again.

Bought one 7 days ago fully loaded, 16gb ram, 2gb harddrive, upgraded video card, Mac OX 10.6.8, for $100. I time traveled, I now own the world's slowest computer that is fun to drive.
"our products are more affordable, the myth that apple products are more expensive is just a myth we are going to bust".... wish that stayed true for the latest mac pro :
It is still true. The Mac Pro 2019 starts at $6K while the HP Z8 G4 costs above $8K. At the high end, it costs only $53K while the HP Z8 G4 and the Dell Precision 7920 cost over $100K.
Watching from my Mac Pro 2009 :)
Is the new MacBook Air’s low watt cpu is faster than this dual core Xeon cpu?
thank you for the show, but why we can't use quadro fx 4500 on mac pro 1.1 or 2.1 anymore? after the upgrade de system, nowaday people are looking for the solution all over the internet, but non could go back the look like old days, even use the original rom, while the card is still performence today, it's really a pity.
It’s crazy that phones today can outperform these machines. Then again, they were released almost 20 years ago.
So, this isn't Apple's fault.
...and 3 years earlier in 2003, Steve was hawking how the PowerMac IBM G5 ran circles around the Intel Xeon dual core. ...
10 years later theyve fallen back upon their old ways
I bought one of these in 2018. The OS was locked so I couldn't do anything with it, so I tore the machine apart and built an ATX system inside. If only I knew I could wipe the drive and do a fresh install from a USB drive, I would've done that instead. I regret putting a beautiful machine in its grave.
4:48 comparing this system with the iPad Pro i am typing this on right now is astounding.
I just looked it up again, you're right, they only go up to Lion. The 2008 one officially supports Mountain Lion. Oh well, still a good run, 2006-2012 being officially supported.
Pshh, I’m on Big Sur on mine right now hehe
Hey. The standard one had the graphics card - that with our other PC- we had to buy separately about a year later!
i have it today with a GTX 760 and i can say u that this computer is fcking immortal and powerful again today
I wonder if that Mac Pro can beat an i3 9100f or i3 10100 in 2020
How much extra did they charged for the Quadro 4500 x back then? I think it has reached the 3 k € line with this upgrade. So that would be just 400 $ less
Phil just can't capture the magic the same way Steve could. Even back then
I know. Especially since these particular Mac Pros are STILL very much supported on OS X Mountain Lion. Support for the G5s died a while back. :P
Watching this in 2020, I chucked 1 of these in the skip last month because it would no longer boot lol.
Can it work with RTX 2080Ti GPU and 16GB RAM?
up to 64gb ram and can take any nvidia gpus, but slow caches in pcie, cpu and ram will make games to run only 30fps or so XD
Please look up on the net what the difference of Geforce and Quadro is.
@bathellfire no chance of new imacs or macbook pros(at least design wise) they upgraded the processors and my thoughts are it will be all about iphone and ipad.
im excited to see the 4.0 on ipad
7:30 first time on an apple event the people are happy about the price.
