  • We need to talk about YOUR privacy!
At The Medical Futurist, we firmly believe that patients or users of advanced technologies must be in a position where they can decide how much of their privacy they are willing to give up or share in exchange for a chance for a longer and healthier life.
This is the social contract we need to keep a close eye on. And that’s what we hope we can help you with through this e-book.

Great video, very interesting! With Google acquiring FitBit and thus the health data associated with this acquisition, transparency is necessary from these big tech companies and of course we also need to educate ourselves!

Everyone should have the option of keeping their own records on thumb drive or other device , not having it "online" at all. Medical records were digitized for the sharing and vending of them. Unauthorized sharing is categorized as a breach .

My nephrologist , after mailing me detailed blood test results for 12 years, has switched to online results. This would be OK except only4 measurements are available. Repeated requests for acomplete results either printed or online have been refused.

Is GDPR not responsible for the Health Information? I had a master thesis about privacy of personal information on social media and I searched a lot about GDPR that forced to companies to explain how they will use customer`s data, who will access it, and gives control to customer on their data. doesn`t it apply for healthcare information?

2:33 saying that the information can be re-identified with minimal effort based on a research paper should be more investigated. You should have said for instance what are the data attributes in the de-identified dataset. Because if it contains information like ZipCode, birthdate, and occupation, it's no wonder it can easily be re-identified :) I personally have no issue about my anonymized data being used for research. Actually, anonymized data is the basis of many medical advances.

As for me they can have my lack of trust for them they carefully built. Wouldn't want them to have anything of mine. And when they get your genome, they will know tons more than your digital data can provide.

Needed an institution to protect your Genetic identity, far more important than protecting digital info that can be reassigned. The creeps of the world are after you.
