So excited for this build! I started re-watching your 88 restore because it feels like TH-cam has a lack of CRX content these days, everyone's moved on to other chassis or sedans
I’m another one looking forward to this build. My Blade Silver ‘89 Si is languishing away in long term storage. I’ve got a crap ton of parts I bought that and have yet to install - Fastbrakes big brake kit, rear disc conversion from a ‘90 Si, EX master cylinder, 4040 prop valve, lots of NOS OEM parts. A few months ago I even dug out my OEM louvers and found the original mounting hardware. Seth’s meticulous builds are an inspiration and will eventually force me to get my project going again.
I like the direction you are heading with the level of restoration. I cannot wait to see another successful Crx rebuild and on the road. Glad the out of state buy was smooth and successful. I get very eery about sight unseen and sellers hiding things. Sounds like it was a great out of state purchase on your end. Thanks for being transparent on cost, you absolutely deserve a good profit. You are really helping the EF community.
I've grown up around these cars since I was a baby, I have 3 uncles and they all still have their CRX's to this day, I really wish I could've experienced these cars as an adult keep up the awesome work.
I was a little afraid you would get away from CRX content when you sold the last one. Seeing you pick up another reaally got me excited. I watch you flip Rex's over and over again. keep up the great work.
It being an 89' and making it a B16C is a perfect combo. Color rarity is a plus in a mild restoration for me. Always loved the white 89's with the close ratio.
Looking forward to seeing this series! I am working on a 91 CRX with a B16 swap. I don't have a whole lot of knowledge when it comes to repairs and restorations so your videos are always insanely helpful and motivating!
Looking forward to another series! I learned a lot watching the last 88 Si build. I also bought a Y49 89 Si back in September, and your videos always get me motivated to improve it whenever I can. Thanks for the great content!
This build is gonna hit home for me! Like literally she’s from my home state of Texas! That truck stop she got loaded up at too that loves I used to stop in there all the time when I was delivering beer statewide for a local Fortworth brewery named Martin House. You’re kill this one! Can’t wait! Your videos inspire me a lot! I’m an EF guy till I die 😎🤙🏽
That's a lot of optimism when talking about a Y-49 without even acknowledging the curse 😅 EDIT: ok there we go, you mentioned it 😂 I'm hoping for the best Seth!
Nice find Seth all the best with the build. Love the OEM plus direction and keen to see the what the original colour looks like once paint begins. Enjoy the restoration process.
Glad you got another CRX. CRX Seth. I’m excited for all the videos coming. I lost out on the last one you sold. 😢Once this is all build. I hope for a fair chance to buy this. 😊 Good luck! With the build. 👍
Awesome find bro. Just some advice from a guy who has multiple projects going on at one time. Finish the Type R swap first. You'll thank me later. That way you can not only be able to move it, you'll also have that peace of mind knowing that it's done. Just trying to help save your mental state from getting overwhelmed.
Im really looking forward to the restoration videos for this CRX. I wish there was someone around on youtube with your kind of passion, style, and ability that was restoring 92-95 civics, basically you with eg's instead of crx's. I learn so much watching your videos and it motivates me to get my 93 hatch back on the road.
I feel the same about the EG’s! I would love to do some of those, especially since they seem to be more common. My first car was an EG. Maybe I’ll eventually do one. My issue is there aren’t as many people hoarding and parting out EG’s like there are CRX’s. So finding parts would be more challenging for me. My resources are EF specialized.
@@rgreerjr That's unfortunate. I don't live in an area where I can just go to the junkyard and buy a bunch of parts, unfortunately. I think it'd be cool to get into the used Honda parts business, but I don't have the means.
Looks like a perfect candidate! I’ve got 3 of these in my barn I’ve had on the backburner for a restore for years and years now! Can’t wait to see another build! I may have some parts you need and I’m in southern Indiana. If there’s anything you can’t find - hit me up!
That is like DIRT CHEAP !!! Wow ! Sure, it needs a lot of TLC, but like you said: it's looks to have "good bones". For a good dash, you best look here in Europe, as we don't usually have cracked dashboards due to lack of sun and temperature. Looking forward to see the whole process and learning to know the car more. Great stuff! Love from The Netherlands.

awsome!!! Really looking forward to this build, im currently building 90 si have another 88 that im taking alot of parts from thanks for these vids seth!
You know its bad when the passenger seat has bolster wear haha. That thing is rough but sadly cleaner then most you see now days. It’s painful in the walk around to see things wrong on every side you look at. Leaving it struggling to idle while shooting that was a nice touch
i just picked my CRX up in September and i love it so much, although she's got a few issues she's a good girl. Working on making her better than i got her. Hopefully gonna rebuild my B18 here this summer, we'll see.
Bro im over here stupid geeking for this! Like legit my face hurts from smiling watching this whole episode! The Y49 is my absolute Favorite CRX color! Its sooooo 💥 in your face beautiful like Y56 ITR yellow! I almost died when you said you got this for such a steal at $800! I mean yeah $2k shipped but still you got such a clean example there bro! Ive been wanting one forever! You kno imma keep an eye out for parts for you all day! Man I wish I'd have had the chance at this thing 1st 😂 now im fiending to see this full build now 😫 damn you the man! 💪💪💪
You know what would be pretty cool/interesting, swapping a double d (dohc zc) into it (yeah yeah yeah, its an SI with what appears to be the factory vtec motor). Whatever you do I just gotta say, you are single handedly saving these amazing vehicles from inevitably being sent to the scrap yard to be crushed and thats awesome. Keep making these videos and we will keep watching.
Japanese Si had the DOHC D16... such a sweet motor. But on those rare occasions you can consistently keep it over 6k the B16 wins, (apart from its cost).
Very awesome, congrats on the y49 I have my own project this year, a 96 civic ex. I'm thinking of creating a TH-cam channel for it. Any tips on resource like music or cameras & such. I have a simple little camera I got from Amazon a while ago but haven't really used it
Start using what you have and focus on quality and content. When you feel like your camera isn’t giving you the quality you want, upgrade. I say go for it! I’m always down to watch a rebuild of old Hondas.
That hood is sick! I think you should body kit it to match the hood... period correct of course. And sell tge si wheels or keep em for yourself but the y49 gonna need some cooler wheels
Cool look forward to seeing the progress on your projects. Ever think about getting a b18a/b or b20 block and doing a ls/b20 vtec using the b16? It would be a much better driving experience. Goodluck
I haven't gotten too far deep into building engines at this point. I've always heard the torque increase from the larger bottom ends makes a big difference.
Seth, trying to source a hood for a USDM CRX with a b18c swap. Any suggestions? Obviously there are CF options ... Though it is difficult to determine whether they are JDM or USDM fit. Any thoughts?
I have an original barbados yellow CRX with a B18c in it. Love the paint color but since it’s a single staged paint job the clear on the hood roof and hatch is horrible but overall the car needs a repaint on mine.
