My RD400 is a big bore and it's insane. My carbs are TM 32s that are tuned lean for them but not the motor. Nice job on the build.

Great job on the RD engine. I got a 79Daytona I need to get back on the road.

Nice how the clutch is visible, I've never seen that on RD before, Daytona single head. Nice clean engine like brand new. 👍

Glad to see you caught the seal backwards. Another Note: You don't want the resleeve RD aircooled cylinders, You can physically do it but any aftermarket sleeve is totally round and will choke off the transfers really bad losing power. The OEM cast in sleeves are cast thinner at the transfers to keep the ports large.

Thanks for the advice on that let’s just hope I never blow it up and in the mean time I’ll look for a good set of OEM cylinders. 👍

If you need bigger pistons in the future TZ750 single ring pistons "if you can get them" take the capacity out to 440. I know because i did this back in the 80's. Just boring it out was the only modification needed, straight in apart from that.

Thanks Mark, I was a bit disappointed I didn’t record the clutch assembly and primary gear fitting but oh well.

I enjoyed your video. I’m thinking about putting a glass cover on mine also. Can’t decide between black or aluminum colour yet.

      Hi Todd
I’m glad you enjoyed it and that I had some inspiration for you to do the same, I think they look cool myself.
      Cheers.

My question is that did you use Yamaha banshee pistons?

Hi there, yes I did they were aftermarket Pro-x piston kits to suit RD400 but it said on the box also fits YFZ350. Cheers
