What a great video tour! I was a zoo docent for 13 years. Now housebound because of health issues, it’s a real blessing to get to experience tours by video. Thank you so much!
Wow it seems like your editing gets better with every video! This aquarium also looks amazing. Another reason to put Henry Doorly on my zoo bucket list.
As an Omaha native, I feel so blessed to have these amazing creatures near home. This place is amazing, can’t wait for a few new exhibits (I believe some were planned than got cancelled, right?)
Andean Foothills was the only one that got officially cancelled (would have featured jaguars, Andean bears, wolves, pumas and other South American animals) and it sounds like that exhibit is getting replaced with an Alaskan exhibit (bears, lynx, sea otters were all mentioned by the zoos director) in the coming years. There is also plans to renovate the desert dome pavilion and replace the old cat house with something new. Omaha really is an incredible zoo!
Sorry I should have been more clear, they aren't renovating the Desert Dome itself, they are redoing the plaza at the front of it. Basically around where you enter the building they are redoing the paths, adding some new plants, and some new eating areas.
This aquarium is by far the best zoo aquarium I've ever seen. It would be a worthy paid attraction on its own. I always see zoos that call themselves "The _______ Zoo and Aquarium" but Omaha is the only one that I think deserves that type of title.
Bonza!!! Just as I thought! Been there 2 or 3 times! And I think the African Penguins were displayed outside of the Scott Aquarium! Plus, which zoo are you visiting next for Episode 110? Also, try visit the Oakland Zoo, San Diego Zoo Safari Park, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Woodland Park Zoo, Sacramento Zoo, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Sacramento Zoo, & San Francisco Zoo sooner or later! Bubbling Deltadromeus!🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧 And also, 4 zoo trivia questions for you..... 1) What are the names of the 2 rescued, injured sea lions that are brought to the San Francisco Zoo? 2) What animal did the Lincoln Park Zoo used to house years ago? 3) Who was the famous polar bear that passed away from the SF Zoo back in 2016? 4) Which elephant from the Oakland Zoo passed away?
It’s so funny that my local SeaWorld San Diego’s penguin exhibit inspired so many others, because now it’s arguably the most dated exhibit at the park and looks preeeeetty rough lol. Hoping for an update soon on that and the Shark Encounter.
Not sure where you're coming from. Aside from the signage, Penguin Encounter is objectively the greatest attraction at SWSD - and a top three indoor Penguin exhibit in America.
@@ZooTours Oh don't get me wrong, I still generally love it. I live in Cali so I have a pass...the exhibit just seems to have gotten more and more deteriorated since I was a kid. The interior still looks alright but the glass is rarely clean and the signage is, as you mentioned, really dated. The walkway is also very old and slow, and not always working. It's still amazing in terms of diversity, especially the only Emperors in the US, but I think it could use a facelift. I was personally more impressed with Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin in Orlando, but I certainly don't just want a copy of that here in Cali. A nice little update to ours would be fine by me. Shark Encounter is much more in need of a full remodel/replacement. I'm a marine biologist by trade and SWSD inspired me as a kid, so I just would love to see it be as nice/receive as much attention overall as Orlando.
Honestly this exhibit to this day, this exhibit is still hard to beat however despite being a zoo I do find it ironic that the best exhibits from the zoo are the aquatic ones which are the aquarium and the Sea Lion shores which honestly do it better than most aquariums in the country, nonetheless this is the best zoo aquarium and undoubtedly one of Henry Doorlys greatest achviments.
The closest thing to me is Henry doing some clarity of us so we always go to henry Doorly zoo so so I am for granite presidents been there my entire life and peppers and I thought it was a small zoo in her watch this video and we’re gonna go there with my class turn off your days it’s next Monday and it’s so exciting

Thank you for showing our zoo aquarium I live pretty close to it and go all the time
I still miss this zoo after moving away, you did an awesome job capturing it with all these videos. Just wonderful.
I’ve never been more interested in marine life until NOW!
Fairy blue penguin, miss those little guys, we use to visit them all the time when we would go!
You missed a green moray in the tank with the bonnet shark. He's my favorite fish in the aquarium.
The Moray missed me*

So relaxing
