Believe it or not, after several years, I'm finally taking us back to Chicago's Brookfield Zoo! This time into the North and South American swamps. You're engulfed in cypress trees, fog, moss, and sounds of the riverine forest. Crocodiles, ibises, a giant salamander, river otters and more are placed side by side with hands on displays to not only enhance this thematic attraction, but to show everyone why swamps are one of the world's most important ecosystems.

I went to the Swamp on a field trip one time and as a Chicago native, I absolutely loved this exhibit! Can't stop wathcing your videos!
I absolutely love the theming of this exhibit. I always give zoos extra points if they have a good theme or story that goes along with the exhibit! And thank you for telling people to read the signs at zoos. You learn so much about the animals and their conservation by reading them.
Hey, let's hear it for reading the interpretive labels at the Swamp exhibit--some of the best ones anywhere. How do I know? I helped write some of them, many years ago. Glad to see they're still there!

Aw there used to be alligators. A few years ago, I think 2019, there was a visiting white alligator. I dont remember if he was albino or leucistic but he was very cool either way :)
Thanks for spotlighting this exhibit! The Swamp has had even more amazing animals over the years. For a while, they even had a black widow!

I think this exhibit perfectly blends a historic outside, with a lush and detailed inside, that I wish more zoo's would do.

It’s good to finally see this area being talked about, too bad there wasn’t any mention of the former Matamata turtles that lived here in the exhibit with the Milk Frogs

I love going through that exhibit ever since I was a kid. It gets a little dark in there, but I think they still have the saltwater crocodile in there or they got rid of it? Because I have not been there in 4 years?

Any chance you can come by Portland OR and show the Washington Park Zoo? Just finished phase one of a really ambitious master plan that revamped the penguins, the elephants, the primates, the rhinos, and the polar bears, among other things. Not so big as some of the other zoos you've shown, but it's a good one.

There’s a zoo in san antonio I’ve been there several times as a kid and they have several great exhibits. For example some personal favorites of mine is there bird house and hippo exhibit.

Sad that this was themed like the Southeastern United States and but turned out to be more like a typical South American exhibit.
To be fair, as a regular visitor it DID used to stay closer to that theme when I was a kid, with alligators, an opossum, and even a green anole in the water monitor’s habitat.
