Yes my favorite zoo exhibit of all time and as a worker of the Columbus zoo I gave this a 1,000,000,000% and now makes this my favorite episode on your channel
Fantastic video! This was my favorite area on my visit a few years ago. Hope to make it back and visit again soon. Looking forward to seeing where you take us next!
I loved your original tour on the Asia Quest, but this takes it up to a whole new level!! Now I'm VERY excited to experience this visit when I (hopefully) visit Columbus in 2023!
I know the backstory of the exhibit. This exhibit did open in two phases in 2006, but before the exhibit was known as Asia Quest, the area was known as the Herbivores/Carnivores, which opened with the Pachyderm area in 1979. This area had not just elephants, rhinos and tigers, but animals like giraffes, zebras, lions, ostriches, cheetahs, kudu, jaguars, anteaters, rheas, llamas, chital deer, snow leopards, secretary birds and Indian crested porcupines. Their setup was similar to the Milwaukee County Zoo's Africa, Asia and South America exhibit, where some of the animals can look down to see their prey. They closed the Herbivores/Carnivores area in 2005.
This amazing Zak! This truly one of the best videos I think you've made! The episode you have been producing lately are soooo great! I hope you keep this style of video up!
I've always loved zoos with great theming, and Columbus had always been the best at that. One day I would loved to see you cover Disney's Animal Kingdom if you ever go to Florida. Gorilla Falls or Maharajah Jungle Trek in particular is amazing in terms of husbandry and theming, while Kilimanjaro Safaris is probably going to be a lot harder to film as they are constantly moving, but is still bascally the largest savannah exhibit in US.
It's a redo! So which zoo are you visiting next for Episode 109 sooner or later? And I've got 6 zoo trivia questions for you. 1) Which one of the 3 Mexican Gray Wolf brothers passed away at the San Francisco Zoo? 2) How many tigers did the Oakland Zoo lose so far when they each passed away one at a time? 3) What new animal moved into the Woodland Park Zoo's former elephant exhibit? 4) What date did Bearizona renovate the otters' new exhibit home? 5) Who is the oldest orangutan that passed away at the Los Angeles Zoo so far? 6) When did Tembo the elephant from the San Diego Zoo passed away?
I’m hoping to make it to the Columbus Zoo this year because my family might be taking a trip down there soon. So many amazing exhibits it makes sense why it’s one of the top zoos in the U.S.
I happened to be on a cross country zoo trip, and stopped exactly in Columbus, on the day Korra disappeared. My dad sent me the article and accused me of panda-napping! It’s been an inside joke ever sense and we always get red panda mercy when we go
Originally, there was a black rhino in the vanishing giants part of Asia Quest, but sadly, I read that it died earlier in the year. The addition of the more geographically appropriate Indian rhino was a good replacement though.
@@TheRandomZooVisitor He was not a Sumatran Elephant but rather a Malaysian Elephant and I am fully aware that he died from EEVH or otherwise known as Elephant endotheliotropic herpesvirus
FYI, I'm not saying its a bad zoo (although its been run by some not so great people). I'm more saying this probably wasn't the best time to release this video. It sounds like most of the zoo was okay, its just there were apparently issues with the animal ambassador program. (The village habitats really shouldn't be acceptable for those animals) So hopefully the can get they're accreditation back in 2023.
Then it's the perfect time to release this video, to show the world the zoo doesn't deserve a tarnished reputation, with one of the best exhibits they have. Adventure Cove had nothing to do with their accreditation loss.
@@ZooTours Agreed! They also knocked off Pittsburgh because of their free contact elephant program which should be a zoo’s individual choice not a decision to be made by a corporation! 🐘🐘🐘
@@ZooTours I've just look at the scandal, and apparently the mismanaged finances costs the zoo's accreditation. Lowry Park Zoo briefly loses it due to this proble as well.

Will you do any remakes of Louisville zoo tours? Because they've added a few things since
My kids favorite section at the zoo, especially the Flying Foxes.
🤫 Even without the Accreditation Columbus ,Ohio Zoo is still one of the fantastic Zoos in America. 😁

Very late to the party but Vampire Bambi would be a great name for a band.
My god those red pandas are adorable I really want to see them
Very well done! I love Asia Quest!

Hey, you should check out the sedgwick county zoo sometime! It is smaller, but has a wide variety of animals!

There most certainly was. For decades.
Great video. What camera do you use?
I love this videos
Shortly after the sun bears died, they had a pair of amur leopards in the current sun bear exhibit
Theres no more White-Naped Cranes in the Pheasant Aviary? Will they bring in another new pair? And I bet Frankie will be BIG!!!
Baloo from the Jungle Book made sloth bears seem silly and friendly. Turns out it's far from it.

Kinda surprised you went with a columbus zoo video right after they lost they're AZA Accreditation
That doesn't change the quality of the zoo, it's still within America's top 5. The AZA is a joke.
