@marktwained no cell phones, beat they read alot and played cards, saw a picture from a old valley line boat, circa 1952, the captain had a eye patch, and all scared up in the face, one mean looking bastard...
A very nice boat there captain, I love that kitchen, need a small tilt kettle in their for making soup, sauces, and ultimate seafood boil, and beans stew, I'm a hoarder when it comes to kitchen appliances, I'm a retired executive chef.
Wow that's a cruise liner! You take it so easy going. Total respect for what you do. One wrong lever and your dun but you have the experience to just take it in your stride. Keep showing what you do.
Mighty nice boat for a '55. She had some quality rework done. That Galley is better than my kitchen. I've spent time on some boates but nothing that nice. Great video Capt.
@@marktwained It's real easy to spot the rookie pilots when high water is a rolling. I've lived here my whole life fifty four years and have got to watch some major screw ups in that bend at Wolf Creek. Love your videos keep up the awesome work.
This is one fine boat. While she might have been built back in the 1950s, not much of the boat beyond the hull probably remains from that time. At each retrofit, the yards practically rebuild much of the boat. You probably can't tell much of a difference between this boat and a brand new one fresh out of the yard that built it. I am kind of surprised that you don't have an option to have red lighting in the interior spaces like they do in military ships. I wish I had a galley a fraction as nice as this one is. Thanks for the great tour of this boat. A mighty fine boat!
With all those barges, all that rigging, keeping the clean up, and painting.4 men on deck, sometimes 5. Does the crew even have time to sit down and enjoy t.v in the evening??
Looks good to have "partially sank and came to rest on the river bottom with the uppermost structure of the vessel still above the water’s surface" in 2015. I have photos of the Billy Strait and the Charles L. Strait passing Warfield.
hahahaha that is what I was thinking with the cost of a mortgage, utilities, and food then you add in a gym, sat TV, internet, you get cooked for, the laundry is free......hell you might have to toss me off the boat I would be looking to work 6 weeks on, 2 off where I leave stuff on the boat and get a hotel somewhere for a couple of weeks or sleep on a friends couch some and repeat.....needs a foosball table and some old arcade games
Hanes Class boat! Which one was this, it's been so long that I've lost track of the name changes. Valley Transporter, Valley Voyager, A.D. Haynes and a Nilo boat that I don't remember the original name of were the only four. I ran striker and chief on all three of the Valley boats at one time or another, the old girl looks fabulous inside! :-)
I would like to see 3 generators on every boat just for safety. I have lost power on one boat that had a bad battery on one gen and a fuel filter on the other gen that went down. Port Aurther Towing was where that happened on the lower Miss, pretty scary
Looks like y'all pulled up around 110mm. You getting off in Baton Rouge? You ever see Capt Keith Smith on Stone tell him I'm still alive and I'll be back on soon as this broke arm heals. The crew on River Addyson too. Being a Midstream Skipper I've been along side a crazy amount of towboats. Supplies, crew changes, emergency transport on-the-fly out of Vidalia/Natchez. Stay safe....
That was a great tour of the Boat Cap! It makes me really miss it. It's only been about 38 years ago. Thank You Sir. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸⚓
Glad you enjoyed. She is a truly beautiful vessel.
@@marktwainedyou imagine the old hard ass captains and mates in 1955 on that boat..
Different times, but a good captain is always good captain, and prick is always a prick, from my experience.

I know some fellas like that nowadays. Haha 👍🏻
The older boats have class and lots of character beautiful boat !!

The steady crew on this boat takes pride in their ride. I think this is the nicest boat you’ve shown us over the years.
You're right. Just looking at the M/ V William E Strait, you'd never know it's 50's vintage.
Thanks for the tour Captain !!! that is one plush setup !!! safe travels y’all
The old A.D. Haines looks great!
Dadgum that's NICE!!!!!
Very glad to see you've been back at it, VERY happy for you.

That's a nice kitchen.
looks great. Thanks for the tour!
Very cool video. Have you run the Ohio River very much??? My farm ajoin's the Ohio right above Wolf Creek Ky.
I don’t get up that way much nowadays, but I have spent lots of time on the Ohio.
Very familiar with Wolf Creek. 👍🏻

And thank you. 👍🏻
I believe Draco built LST # 903 = my Dad served on her 8-17-44 to 6-11- 46. Great stories of way back when. Thank You for sharing 👍❤️

I found the red light switches, and blue.. the day I got off boat. 🤷🏼♂️

Would love to hear more radio chatter when locking or tow work

No partial about it. She was totally under.
If I was Captain Kenny, I'd never leave. They would carry me off in a pine box.
That's one sweet ride!
For a work boat, I mean... 😉

Beautiful boat, thanks for the tour. I'm jealous though, that rig has more living space than my house.
Beautiful
Very nice and bigger than I imagined.
Hanes Class boat!

If they are properly maintained, as our chiefs keep them, it should not be issue.
They are swapped regularly for general maintenance.

Yall just picked up here. lol. everytime i see a video i wonder if ya here at Zito
Cool👍👍👍❤️
Beautiful refurbish. Was this a scheduled refurb due to age or was this boat swamped? Thanks for the tour, that wheel house is fantastic.
I live about a mile off of the river what are the channels that you talk on or monitor. I would like to listen to the river traffic. Thanks
Marine channel 13
Didn't this boat sink while being refurbished?
How long is the typical deployment / job, away from home port?
Usually it’s a 30 on 30 off, or 30 and 15 for boats that run up and down river
Is this the old Hank T. Aep use to have?
Early on this lady sounded like a train.
How long do yall stay on a boat at a time?
What engine's and h.p. is it...??
I bet this guy has a hot wife.
Smoking hot 👍🏻😉
CApt I know that Boat has been gutted and remodeled over the years, how big a crew do you think they kept on that in 1956?
